Chapter 100: Population Expansion
The Kiss Battle 2.0 was a resounding success, and now all that remained was to patiently wait for Mom’s belly to grow.
It was a long process, and the little dragon girls weren’t overly anxious about it either.
In the days that followed, Noia and Moon didn’t come up with any new tricks.
With no tricks to entertain her, Little Light found herself at a loss for fun.
For someone with an innate ability to find joy, Little Light was getting a little bored.
She initially planned to sneak up on Old Man and throw a classic uppercut to spice up their warm and cozy daily life.
But her big sister said Old Man was currently in a weak state, so it was best to wait a while.
Reluctantly, Little Light dropped the idea.
That morning, Little Light wandered around the Holy Temple, bored out of her mind.
When she reached the main hall, she spotted Mom talking to a few maids in front of the throne.
Little Light blinked and strolled over.
“Let’s expand the throne a bit more! Right now, it’s barely enough for two people to sit, and you can hardly lean back for a rest,” Roswiser suggested.
Anna nodded, “Yes, Your Majesty. I’ll find a craftsman to redesign the throne right away.”
“Good.”
After a pause, Roswiser added, “Make it quick.”
Anna was taken aback, “Quick? Your Majesty… Are you in a hurry?”
The queen’s cheeks flushed, and she quickly looked away, “N-No, I’m not in a hurry. I just thought everyone would be returning soon, so it’s best to finish the renovations quickly as a surprise for everyone.”
Anna’s eyes lit up in realization, “Oh, I see! I understand, Your Majesty.”
“Good, go take care of it.”
Anna nodded in respect and turned to leave.
Roswiser sighed inwardly with relief.
But suddenly, she felt someone gently tugging at her skirt.
Looking down, she smiled and bent over to scoop Little Light into her arms.
“What’s up, Little Light? Did you need something from Mom?” she asked.
“Mom, are you going to remodel the throne?” Little Light inquired.
“Yep… this throne has been around for years. It’s time for a makeover.”
As she spoke, Roswiser sat down on the throne while holding Little Light.
Gazing at the empty Holy Temple hall below, Little Light pondered for a moment and said, “Mom, compared to other tribes, do we Silver Dragon Race members seem a bit fewer?”
Roswiser was momentarily taken aback, her silver eyes flickering.
Even Little Light noticed that…
Indeed, the continuous wars had drastically reduced the number of Silver Dragon members.
The Dragon Race had always been characterized by a “few but elite” approach. Sure, this method could mass-produce powerful solo warriors, but once the frequency of wars exceeded the race’s resilience, they couldn’t rebound like humans or other large races in a short time.
And when the tribe faced extinction, most Dragon Kings would choose to disperse the tribe, preserving its seeds for a future revival.
Fortunately, Leon returned just in time; otherwise, Roswiser’s order for dispersal would have made it impossible to gather many tribe members back.
Little Light’s innocent remark made Roswiser realize the gravity of the situation.
As the queen of the Silver Dragons, she needed to address the issue of their dwindling numbers promptly.
“Yeah, we are a bit fewer. But Mom will solve it.”
“How does Mom plan to solve it?” Little Light asked.
“Um…”
Saying it was easy, but actually doing it was quite difficult.
The most common reproduction method in the Dragon Race is egg-laying, which doesn’t require a partner or a ten-month pregnancy.
But the downside is that after using their power to create dragon eggs, the dragons fall into a state of extreme weakness.
At this time, they are vulnerable to outside threats.
The Silver Dragon Race was already in a recovery phase after the wars, and Leon was in a state of emptiness. If some scheming individual caught wind of this…
Well, that would be a real headache.
“This isn’t something I can explain in a sentence or two. If you’re interested in learning about the tribe’s development model when you grow up a bit more, I’ll teach you, alright?”
Little Light’s eyes brightened, “Sure! Thank you, Mom!”
Roswiser laughed and gave her little nose a gentle poke before putting her down, “Go play with your sisters now. Mom has things to take care of.”
“Got it, Mom.”
After Little Light left, Roswiser leaned back in her throne, gazing at the vast and chilly Holy Temple hall, her delicate face filled with worry.
She bit her lip, sighing inwardly, “How can I increase our population…?”
Roswiser mused softly, absently brushing her hand over her belly.
In the next moment, the queen suddenly sat up straight, a smile slowly spreading across her face, “I’ve got an idea!”
…
A few nights later, Roswiser seriously approached Leon, saying she had something important to discuss.
Leon was in her study, flipping through various ancient texts, “What’s the matter? You’re being all mysterious.”
“My Silver Dragon Race needs population expansion,” Roswiser stated directly.
Leon paused, putting down his book and looking up at her. “And? You want me to slay dragon kings, that’s fine, but if you want me to help you figure out how to expand the population, that’s a task I can’t assist with.”
“Who says? You can help with this!” Roswiser insisted confidently.
“How can I help you? I’ve never studied the methods of tribe management, not to mention—wait a minute… population expansion…”
Leon’s brain raced as he pondered over the mother dragon’s words.
“Hiss~~~”
“No way… You can’t be thinking about wanting a third child, right?” Leon asked.
Roswiser was also taken aback. She didn’t answer directly but countered, “Why do you say that? Do you really want another one with me?”
“Are you kidding me, Mother Dragon! I, the Dragon Slayer, having three kids with you is already against the odds. There’s no way I could ever ask for a third!”
Leon asserted firmly, neither humble nor pushy, “I, Leon Casmod, would rather d*e out there than have more kids with you!”
Roswiser chuckled softly, crossing her arms and tilting her head slightly, leisurely saying, “Wanting to have kids with me isn’t up to you; it’s up to me.”
Leon blinked, not getting it, “What do you mean by that?”
“The power to use the anti-conception magic after mating is in my hands.”
Roswiser raised her delicate finger, lazily admiring it under the light in the study. “In other words, whether or not I get pregnant depends on whether I use the anti-conception magic.”
Leon’s mind began to whirl.
He recalled that the reason Roswiser got pregnant with Little Light was because she passed out in revenge against Leon, not having time to use the anti-conception magic.
So she was right; whether pregnancy occurred after their ‘assignment’ was up to her.
“But even so, do you think that gives you the upper hand? Childish!” Leon retorted.
The queen raised an eyebrow with a sly grin, “Oh? So, you’re saying you won’t touch me from now on, is that it?”
“……”
“Don’t want me to light up your dragon pattern again?”
“……”
“Don’t want to kiss my ankles and knees?”
“Enough already…”
“Don’t want to see me put on a bunny girl costume for you?”
Smack!—
Leon slammed the table, “Alright, Melkway! You don’t have to threaten me with this assignment talk. I, Leon Casmod, am not the kind of person who would sell my soul for a moment of physical pleasure!”
Roswiser smiled, slowly walking towards Leon behind the desk.
As she stepped, she kicked off her slippers, revealing her smooth, fair feet.
The skin glided against the wooden floor, her steps light and silent.
When she reached Leon, she bent down, her eyes twinkling, “You… don’t want to, do you?”
“I… maybe so.”
He could tolerate anything, except not being able to see the bunny girl again—that was absolutely intolerable.
In Leon’s heart, bunny girl Roswiser was right up there with Donkey!
Roswiser chuckled, giving his face a gentle pinch.
“Alright, I’m not joking anymore.”
Leon sensed that she was serious this time and shifted to a more serious tone, asking, “So… how can I help increase the number of Silver Dragons?”
“Promotion.”
“Promotion?”
Roswiser slapped Leon’s shoulder, “Yes, Casmod, our union is the best promotion!”
