“Revive!”
——( ) ( ) ( ) ( )!
In the Empire, the Fusion Technique Laboratory.
A vast underground space, where dozens of top members of the Royal Sorcerers’ Corps had gathered to witness a historic moment alongside the Empire’s chief steward, Andi.
“Lord Andi, I assure you, this time the fusion technique is positively perfect,” one sorcerer said respectfully.
Andi stood there with his hands behind his back, expressionless, gazing at the dragon-headed monster in the massive incubation chamber.
He said nothing, and the sorcerer continued to chatter on,
“This time, the fusion of the Dangerous Species with the Dragon Race has an exceptionally high compatibility, so both the use of magic and physical coordination far exceed the first attempt.”
Though Andi might not be as well-versed in magic as these professional sorcerers, at least from the looks of it, this time’s Constantine was much more harmonious than the last “weird creature”—
You could at least tell it was a fusion product based on “dragon.”
Noticing Andi’s still grave expression, the sorcerer shifted his approach and revealed the question that was burning in the chief steward’s mind,
“My lord, the newly born Constantine will become the Empire’s strongest biological weapon.”
The strongest.
A flicker of emotion crossed Andi’s indifferent face.
That simple word “strongest” stirred up an old memory.
A few years ago, the Empire had a man who was called “the strongest.”
During the most intense period of the Human-Dragon War, he single-handedly broke the deadlock, tipping the scales of victory for the humans for the first time.
No one would deny his strength, and of course, no one wasn’t wary of that terrifying power.
Back then, everyone thought this legendary battle would conclude under that man’s overwhelming presence.
But…
The Empire didn’t need—or rather, couldn’t afford—to have this war end so quickly.
It wasn’t really a racial struggle, just a giant, complex chessboard.
And that man was a disobedient pawn.
That pawn killed the Constantine in front of Andi and declared that a third player had entered the game.
Andi was ordered to take care of him, but all these years later, that guy was still alive and kicking.
It was infuriating.
Andi’s memories slightly thawed the ice in his expression.
The sorcerer quickly seized this fleeting wave of emotion and continued to take credit,
“My lord, the reborn Constantine will definitely surpass Leon Casmod.”
The name of that man felt like a foreign object lodged in Andi’s throat. If it were up to him, he couldn’t casually say that name.
Fortunately, the sorcerer said it aloud, and Andi slowly turned his head to him, slightly displeased,
“I remember you all went into this fusion technique with the intent to k*ll Leon, but what happened in the end?”
“Leon not only didn’t d*e, but he also blew up all our Heartguard Dragon Scales.”
That was quite possibly the biggest stain on Andi’s otherwise glowing life.
He had worked half his life accumulating Heartguard Dragon Scales, only for that BYD Casmod to blow them all up.
When the king found out about this, he nearly cleaved Andi in half.
If Queen Elizabeth hadn’t pleaded for him, Andi would probably have been banished to some godforsaken place to grow vegetables by now.
So, he had always held a grudge about it.
The sorcerer hurried to explain, “Last time was truly unexpected; who could have thought that scoundrel Leon buried lightning magic in the Heartguard Dragon Scales? We—”
“Enough, I don’t want to hear any more explanations,” Andi interrupted with a raised hand. “This time, without the Heartguard Dragon Scales, are you sure Constantine’s power will be stronger than last time?”
“Absolutely, my lord, because this time you specifically allowed us to use Primal Power.”
The sorcerer said, “That’s a power far more potent than the Heartguard Dragon Scales; for the Dragon Race, it’s a treasure left behind by their ancestors, and no dragon can refuse that power.”
“Primal Power is also a result of the Empire’s years of research and is quite rare. The ‘Sharp Dagger’ trio has already begun experimenting with its fusion.”
Andi said, “So, if Constantine fails again, the Empire won’t have any spare Primal Power for a third attempt, understand?”
The sorcerer bowed, “Yes, my lord.”
Andi shifted his gaze, took a deep breath, and then released it slowly.
He looked at Constantine in the incubation chamber.
The dragon-headed beast had its eyes slightly closed, and bubbles rose rhythmically in the chamber.
The sorcerers were bustling about, adjusting various spells and materials.
After a while, Andi grew impatient.
“When will it be finished?”
Though he applied a lot of pressure to these sorcerers, in his heart, he was quite optimistic about Constantine.
Ah, rather than “optimistic,” perhaps it was better to say “riding on.”
He had practically bet everything the Empire had in high-end resources on this Constantine.
Having lost all the Heartguard Dragon Scales, now he was putting the remaining Primal Power on the line.
If it failed again, even with Queen Elizabeth as his godmother, he might not be able to save himself.
And being in Andi’s position, he was well aware that his power and honor came with risks.
There’s a saying: “Serving a ruler is like being with a tiger.” After working in the royal court for most of his life, Andi knew the weight of that saying.
Yet, if it meant relinquishing everything and returning to being an ordinary person, he wouldn’t agree.
Power is such a seductive thing; how many have fought tirelessly for it?
“My lord, it’s almost ready!” the sorcerer exclaimed excitedly.
Andi’s thoughts were yanked back to reality.
He looked up.
The massive beast had indeed slowly opened its eyes.
All the sorcerers in the laboratory were buzzing with excitement.
“Constantine…is awakening!”
“This is truly a masterpiece, far surpassing any known creature!”
“Come on, Constantine, wake up and let the world hear your roar!”
“……”
As the dragon’s eyes opened, a massive pressure spread throughout the room.
Andi gazed into Constantine’s eyes, which seemed full of impending wrath.
Meanwhile, Primal Power began to flow around Constantine’s body like water.
It slowly pieced together this new body, fully integrating it as a whole.
“Fantastic! Primal Power is starting to take effect!” a sorcerer shouted in excitement.
“Soon, very soon it will be complete!”
“……”
Cheers filled the laboratory, and Andi was swept up in the enthusiasm.
He stepped forward, wide-eyed, slowly raising his trembling hands in excitement,
“Revive! — Constantine!”
The bubbles in the incubation chamber suddenly surged violently.
Powerful energy radiated outwards from it.
Crack, crack—
With two clear sounds, the outer wall of the incubation chamber suddenly showed visible cracks.
Liquid from inside the chamber began to spill out through the cracks.
Andi’s excited expression froze instantly; he stepped back a few paces and frantically asked,
“What’s going on? Is this a normal phenomenon?”
The sorcerer swallowed hard, “M-my lord… I don’t know! Is this part of your plan?!”
A nearby sorcerer responded firmly and clearly,
“Reporting to the master, it is not!”
Sorcerer: ?
Andi: ?
Wang Defa!!
Before Andi could explode, a loud explosion echoed.
Everyone turned towards the sound.
The incubation chamber had completely shattered, deep green liquid spreading onto the floor.
The dragon-headed beast then raised its right leg and stepped out of the chamber.
The overwhelming sense of pressure filled the large laboratory.
“Is it—out of control?!”
“Why isn’t Constantine calming down as expected?!”
Numerous sorcerers shouted in panic, scattering in all directions.
The sorcerer referred to as “teacher” next to Andi forced himself to calm down and commanded,
“We have a backup suppression array! Activate the array quickly!”
For such an important and dangerous experiment, these professional sorcerers had certainly prepared insurance measures in advance.
Hearing this, the panicked sorcerers immediately began to activate the suppression array.
The array quickly lit up, and a deep red light flashed under Constantine’s feet.
The light trapped him within, like an invisible cage.
Constantine let out a low growl, attempting to break free from the array.
But this newly fused and awakened body hadn’t fully recovered yet, with powerful strength hidden inside, it couldn’t erupt.
He began to roar, dragon cries reverberating deafeningly.
A young sorcerer squinted slightly, snorting, “Just a fit of impotent rage; you think you can break free from the array’s control? Dream on!”
The suppression array was indeed strong enough, and since Constantine hadn’t fully grasped his current power and body, this loss of control crisis should…
Be solvable, right?
The array kept compressing, taking away the little space Constantine had left.
It looked like he was about to be forced back into a brand new cage, but Constantine still struggled with all his might.
“Why is he still struggling?”
“Stop howling and give up; become the Empire’s weapon!”
The sorcerers popped open champagne.
But only the ‘teacher’ did not.
He frowned, muttering under his breath, “Constantine’s roar…sounds a bit off.”
Andi looked at him, “What’s off about it?”
“That roar doesn’t sound like anger or struggle; it sounds more like…summoning.”
“Summoning? What is he summoning?”
Just as Andi finished speaking, before the sorcerer next to him could respond, the ground began to shake violently.
“What the hell is going on?!”
Andi cursed loudly.
In the next moment, the underground laboratory began to collapse, stones rolling down.
The sorcerers were at their wit’s end, unable to dodge the falling rocks while also maintaining the suppression array.
At this rate, Constantine would surely lose control again!
But… that wasn’t even the worst part.
Amidst the chaos and destruction, a huge iron-blue figure flapped its wings, breaking through the rubble and scattering the sorcerers.
“That’s…Fair?! The Iron Wing Dragon King, Fair?! How is he even here?!”
Having found a safe corner, Andi looked at Fair in dragon form, utterly perplexed.
The sorcerer teacher beside him suddenly realized,
“Turns out Constantine’s roar was calling Fair… my lord, this isn’t an experiment gone wrong.”
“What do you mean?”
“They plotted this from the start… this is their plan!”
Realization hit too late.
Without the sorcerers maintaining it, the array was easily shattered by Fair.
He swiftly dashed to Constantine’s side, who raised his right hand to grasp one of Fair’s claws.
The iron-blue dragon took Constantine and burst through the underground laboratory, heading straight for the deep night sky.
Under the full moon, burned a true fire of vengeance reborn.
