68 Response
The final line of the play directed by Noia, As Love Sinks, was naturally unforgettable, especially for Roswiser, who had a particular impression of those three words.
She had thought it was just a line Leon came up with for dramatic effect—love for the occasion, and then forgotten afterward.
But who would have thought he would bring it up himself now?
Doesn’t that mean… it wasn’t just a last-minute improv?
Maybe there’s a little bit of that dog man “fishing in muddy waters” kind of sincerity involved?
It’s hard to say, really hard to say.
Roswiser smirked, crossing her arms theatrically, and coyly remarked, “Which line? I don’t remember it at all.”
Leon froze for a moment. “You’re only a couple hundred years old, and you’ve already forgotten?”
“Gasp!—”
Seeing the dog man was not catching on, Roswiser got a bit flustered. “What I mean is, with so many lines, how could I possibly remember them all?”
“But you definitely can’t have forgotten the last line.”
“Well, I just didn’t remember it, so what?”
Roswiser was classic in her smirk of indifference, and the most painful part was that Leon had no real response to her.
Not because he was afraid to reason with Roswiser, but because…
When the Mother Dragon refused to reason, there was a certain… charm reminiscent of a sulking teenager.
It was rare for her.
Leon clearly had to cherish this moment.
“Well then, if you forgot, you forgot.”
He shrugged, played with his nose, and turned his head away.
Roswiser raised an eyebrow and nudged his shoulder, “Are you going to d*e if you say it again?”
Going around in circles, she just wanted Leon to repeat those three words.
After all, everyone knew what those so-called “last words” were all about.
But how could he do that?
It had to be word-for-word, or else it wouldn’t mean anything.
Roswiser looked at Leon expectantly.
She thought, since the dog man already hit it out of the park once, couldn’t he take another swing?
Please, please?
“I won’t say it.” Leon pouted like a stubborn mule.
The Queen frowned, displeased. “Why not?”
Leon stammered, not directly answering Roswiser’s question.
But Roswiser knew he had his reasons for keeping quiet.
And this reason seemed unrelated to his usual “stubbornness.”
Because Roswiser could tell that Leon wanted to express some feelings to her, but for some “reason,” he chose to say nothing.
“Is it… awkward?”
Roswiser asked, “What’s there to be awkward about? It’s just us here, and what you say only I can hear.”
Her tone softened.
The Silver Dragon Queen rarely coaxed others into saying things.
But it was worth it to hear those three words come out of the dog man’s mouth again~
Leon shook his head. “No, I’m not awkward. I didn’t feel awkward with hundreds of dragons present, and I certainly won’t now.”
“Then why won’t you say it?”
“Because!— Because…”
“Hmm?”
Leon lowered his head, fiddling with his fingers. “Because it’s been a week since the play ended, and you still haven’t responded to that line.”
Roswiser was taken aback.
She never expected that would be the reason.
As he said this, she could even hear a hint of grievance in the voice of this dragon-slaying powerhouse.
This guy always considers himself a “macho man” but has such a delicate side.
Roswiser lowered her gaze, gently placed her hand over the back of Leon’s hand, and slowly began to speak,
“I… didn’t mean to ignore it. I just thought it was merely a line from the play… I didn’t realize that was—”
She bit her lip, a blush creeping up her cheeks, “That was something you wanted to tell me.”
Leon shrugged, remaining silent.
Roswiser looked at his profile, a sense of indescribable loneliness filling the air.
Her silver eyes trembled slightly, and after a moment of hesitation, she reached up, resting her hand on Leon’s shoulder, and leaned in closer.
The softness of the Queen’s bosom enveloped his sturdy arms as she leaned close to his ear, her breath warm and ticklish.
“Leon Casmod… I love you.”
Her whisper was enchanting and tantalizing, sending shivers through him.
Before Leon could even react, Roswiser followed up with a gentle kiss on his cheek.
She grabbed his chin, slowly turning his face to meet hers. Looking into Leon’s eyes, Roswiser softly said,
“I’ve responded to you now.”
Their eyes met, breaths mingled, and they could even hear the escalating rhythm of each other’s heartbeats.
For two stubborn, prideful souls, saying “I love you” so bluntly was a shock.
But when it came to feelings, what words could surpass those three simple ones?
As for this response, Leon was at a loss, and so was Roswiser.
What do a couple like them know about this sort of thing?
After thinking it over, it seemed that stubbornness suited them better…
After a long silence, Leon sighed,
“That doesn’t count.”
Roswiser raised an eyebrow. “What doesn’t count?”
“This response doesn’t count.”
Oh boy, this dog guy is getting even bolder?
Roswiser tugged on his ear. “Why doesn’t it count, hmm?”
“Y-You let go!”
“Only if you give me a reasonable explanation will I think about letting go. Come on, why doesn’t it count? What makes it not count?”
How could this Queen, after two hundred years, be saying “I love you” to a man for the first time?
She thought it would bring forth grateful tears, but instead, this little captive had the audacity to push his luck!
If I don’t hear a reasonable explanation, Casmod, we’re not done here!
“Because… because I said it in front of so many people, and you only said it in private; how can it compare?”
“Hey, you…”
Roswiser wanted to argue but didn’t know how to start.
It kind of makes sense what Leon’s saying.
Saying it in front of a crowd packs a lot more punch than in private.
“So what do you want me to do? Gather my maid squad and guard team so that I can respond to you in front of them again?”
Leon grinned widely. “That’s exactly what I want.”
Roswiser, feeling a bit irritated, pushed his head lightly. “Go d*e. You should just be grateful I said those words to you. Remember, just this once.”
“Oh? Just this once?”
Roswiser nodded firmly. “Yes, absolutely no next time.”
“And if there is?”
Roswiser shrugged. “What could I do?”
Leon blinked, utterly confused as to what she meant.
But the next second, Roswiser suddenly grabbed his collar, pulling his face close to hers.
“If there’s a next time, you better reciprocate just like I did, got it?”
Wow, what a bossy, cool lady~
But Leon wasn’t falling for that.
In a flash, Leon grasped Roswiser’s wrist, and with a smooth motion, he pushed her against the headboard in a classic wall slam.
“I don’t get it, Your Majesty. Can you explain in a different way?”
He breathed in the fragrant scent of her neck, stoking the flames of his rising desire.
