111 Have You Ever Thought About the Ending?
Donkey is quite the tsundere.
After a little tug-of-war with Leon, he naturally trotted over to him to join in the fun.
Rebecca hopped on Donkey, and with Leon leading the way, the trio set off for a delightful jaunt across the grass.
The crazy gal flailed her arms around, declaring herself a “daring dragon knight” on enemy territory: the sea dragon’s domain.
What can you do? She’s used to it. Back when she visited the captain’s house, she adored playing such role-playing games.
Roswiser and Claudia stood a short distance away, quietly watching the scene unfold.
After a moment, Roswiser couldn’t help but smirk, saying, “It’s been a while since I’ve seen Leon this happy.”
“Well, with Master out of danger and reunited with his beloved wife and Donkey, sure, the journey had its hiccups, but the outcome is good. Who wouldn’t be happy?”
Claudia paused, then asked, “Wait a minute, is it possible that your married life with Leon… is actually… quite stifling? Is that why he seems so happy now?”
“Not at all, Senior! My married life with him— cough cough, I mean our agreement includes ‘get along well and be good parents.’ There’s no way it’s stifling.”
The term “married life” was something Roswiser often threw around with Leon, but when it came from someone else’s mouth, it sounded a bit strange. So, after some thought, she stuck with “agreement.”
It indeed reflected their situation: a promise to ensure their daughters have a complete and happy childhood.
Claudia looked at this younger generation, who had only a few hundred years less experience than herself but somehow became the Dragon King. Despite knowing all sorts of social tactics and etiquette, whenever emotions related to Leon came up, she turned into a shy little girl.
Neither admitting nor denying it, and if you pressed further, she’d blush and change the subject.
Roswiser’s social anxiety mostly showed in this area. Before meeting Leon, she had no experience with romantic relationships and didn’t know how to handle such situations.
Even after five years of marriage, they still played the “contrast attribute” to the max— out in public, it’s “Me and my wife/Not really close,” but the moment they’re alone, it turns into “Honey, I want to see you in a bunny girl outfit.”
Claudia withdrew her gaze, lazily leaning against the fence, looking out at the grass, and said, “Actually, Charlotte told me about your ‘agreement’ a long time ago. Oh, it was Taige who told her.”
At this, Roswiser raised her eyebrow, not too surprised. She blinked and suddenly thought of something, “So the script for Little Helena’s When Love Sinks was really based on real life?”
Helena had some literary skills and could write a full script by herself. But the plot of When Love Sinks from their last school play was obviously beyond what her age could conceive.
Helena had said it was guided by Mom Claudia, so Roswiser and Leon didn’t think too much about it.
But after a brief chat with Claudia, Roswiser got the gist of it.
Claudia showed no intention of hiding it, smiling lightly, “Yes. When Charlotte first told me about you two, I was also… incredulous. I was thinking, how can there be such fantastical developments in this world?”
Discussing this, Roswiser simply shook her head and chuckled. “But…”
“But?”
Claudia’s smile grew wider, “But when you think about it, every unforgettable love has an unexpected encounter, don’t you think?”
Roswiser’s cheeks flushed, and she quickly looked away, “What unforgettable love… Senior, don’t tease me!”
She would never admit it openly; but the idea of “unexpected” was something Roswiser could no longer deny.
The Empire’s greatest Dragon Slayer proved through his actions that he truly deserved the title.
“You and Leon have gone through so much, from meeting, getting to know each other, to falling in love—”
“Senior, do you have to use such mushy words?”
“It’s my job to translate and classify ancient texts, so being meticulous with my language is a professional quality.”
“…Alright, go on.”
Roswiser thought she would’ve to hear a recap of their epic love story, and she braced herself for an audience-d*ath-inducing wave of cringey romance.
After all, having been tortured by the Vice Principal so many times at Saint His Academy, she had developed a bit of social-dying resistance.
However, Claudia didn’t do what she expected.
Instead, that blue-haired beauty’s voice turned somber as she turned to Roswiser, carefully studying her delicate profile.
“After all this, have you thought about your ending with Leon?”
“Ending…”
“Yes.”
Claudia continued, “Taige and Charlotte’s ending is already predetermined. They will accompany each other through life in this vast ocean.”
“But you two are different. Roswiser, you and Leon have infinite possibilities for the future.”
“The human and dragon clans have countless crises buzzing just beneath the surface; not stirring the pot doesn’t mean trouble won’t pay you a visit.”
“Everything you and Leon have experienced since getting married has validated my point.”
“So… have you thought about an ending?”
“One that matches this rollercoaster journey.”
Claudia described this “ending” question in detail.
Roswiser fell silent for a moment, her gaze dropping as she quietly contemplated.
Claudia didn’t rush her, patiently waiting for an answer.
Soon, laughter from Leon, Rebecca, and Donkey echoed over the grass.
Roswiser slowly lifted her head, looking in their direction.
Her silver eyes fixated on the silhouette of that man.
After a moment, she offered a faint smile, “I haven’t thought about it, Senior.”
“Haven’t thought about you and his ending? Why not?”
“Because we’ll keep moving forward, so there will never be an ending.”
Claudia gazed at Roswiser’s profile, her pupils flickering slightly.
In those steadfast and sincere silver eyes, she could only see Leon.
“Whether it’s a rollercoaster of ups and downs or a smooth sail, as long as Leon and I aren’t separated, that’s enough, isn’t it, Senior?”
Her answer was short, almost simple. But in those simple words lay an unwavering, composed affection.
Roswiser never excelled at talking about her relationship with Leon in front of others, but Claudia’s question about “ending” did spark some introspection.
Compared to the so-called “eternity,” Roswiser cherished fleeting beauty more; and when it came to “endings,” she preferred the process of reaching the conclusion.
So if you were to ask her if she had thought about her ending with Leon, her answer would be this.
It felt less like a promise and more like an established fact.
Claudia slowly shifted her gaze, savoring Roswiser’s response before letting out a soft laugh.
“If Leon heard you say that, he’d be even happier than he is now, right?”
Roswiser froze up for a second, then hurriedly said, “Senior, you absolutely cannot tell him what I just said!”
She got a little too invested, spilling out all sorts of surface-level mushy love talk.
This could NOT be known by Leon.
Whether he’d be happy or not, Roswiser wasn’t sure. What was certain, though, was that he would clasp his hands on his waist, proudly spam “Haha, Mother Dragon, so you like me that much! Oh ho, never saw that coming!” balabala.
Claudia raised an eyebrow, “Oh? Why not? You two have been married for so many years, what’s wrong with a little mushiness?”
“Just promise me you won’t tell him!”
She was getting desperate.
Claudia chuckled, “Alright, I won’t tell him. This can be our little secret.”
“Mm…”
The little secret about the “ending” would have to wait.
Claudia squinted at Donkey and suddenly said, “Donkey has always had quite a stubborn temper and is very wary of strangers, but you just calmed him right down.”
As she spoke, she looked back at Roswiser, “Are you already able to use ‘Soul Judgment’ so skillfully?”
