012. Class Committee
Ning Chu spent the entire day in a daze.
Maybe it was because his head was stuffed with yellow waste from last night, or perhaps he was just overthinking before sleep. Whatever it was, he didn’t sleep well and as soon as he nodded off, nightmares came rushing at him like they had something to prove.
He dreamed he had become a woman, with Wen Yang and Zhang Shaoqing supporting him like he was some prize, left and right.
It was terrifying…
Usually, if he woke up midway through a dream, he couldn’t go back, but last night, every time he jolted awake and fell asleep again, the nightmare picked up right where it left off.
It made for a thoroughly exhausting night.
“Ugh…”
After such a poor night’s sleep, Ning Chu’s mind was nothing but a fog. He hazily wrapped up the day’s military training and drifted into classroom D203 alongside his classmates.
It was just an ordinary room filled with a handful of desks and chairs.
Ning Chu randomly plopped down in one seat, rested his head on the table, and half-opened his eyes to the instructor at the front.
“Let me introduce myself again, just in case some students have forgotten.”
The instructor turned to the blackboard and wrote down his name and phone number: “If it’s a minor issue, ask me in the group; for major problems, just call me directly.”
Han Jingye? Sounds nice! He looked gentle and well-dressed.
But who knows if any shady business with girls has happened yet in this plot?
“Next up, students running for class committee, please come to the stage to give a speech.”
Ning Chu yawned and turned his head, resting his cheek against the cool surface of the desk.
If he didn’t have strange suspicions about Han Jingye, he’d care even less about class committee stuff.
“Wen Yang.”
“Hmm?” Wen Yang, seated at the same table, looked down at Ning Chu, whose face was squished against the table.
After some thought, he continued, “If you get elected as a committee member, keep an eye on the girls who interact with the instructor for me.”
“Ooh? Want to catch feelings? Why does it have to be girls who interact with the instructor?”
Ning Chu didn’t want to get into the baseless suspicions with Wen Yang, so he simply replied, “Uh-huh…”
Then, he didn’t make excuses; he just fell silent, leaving Wen Yang puzzled.
“Why don’t you give it a shot too? Being on the committee could help you grow a bit; you’re a little shy.”
“No way.”
With a tangled mess of his own problems, who has time for class committee duties?
Although he had thoughts about making risky moves to get closer to Han Jingye, he had Wen Yang watching over him for now.
Just as Ning Chu imagined, once Wen Yang stepped up to run for class committee, the result was already a foregone conclusion.
As expected, Wen Yang became the class leader, with a mature and pretty wolf girl alongside him, who charmed everyone, while a friendly dude took on the role of vice-class leader.
Ning Chu was only interested in that wolf girl. Just look at that fluffy tail! Once he found out she became the vice-class leader, it seemed her tail was wagging like a toy windmill. From a few meters away, the breeze from that tail sent wonderful chills to Ning Chu’s face that even a fan couldn’t compete with.
“Being vice-class leader is pretty great, right?” Zhang Shaoqing elbowed Ning Chu, his tone dripping with innuendo, grinning like a pervert, “Look at those abs~ Look at those thighs~”
“Ugh… She could punch me right into next week.”
That little tanktop and hot pants showcased the wolf girl’s figure to perfection, but Ning Chu seriously doubted she could deliver a knockout blow to him.
The wolf girl’s ears perked up as she suddenly turned around, locking eyes with him.
Wow, those ears are sharp?
He immediately shrank back, pressing his face into the desk, ducking behind Wang Jie.
“Don’t be scared,” Zhang Shaoqing grinned playfully at the wolf girl, “By the way, what’s her name again?”
“How would I know? I didn’t catch anything during their speeches.”
He was about to doze off!
Zhang Shaoqing laughed in mischief: “Just had to talk about her behind her back, didn’t you?”
“I was just joking… Plus, you were talking about risqué stuff, too!”
“I was complimenting her figure.”
Luckily, the wolf girl didn’t seem to mind their chatter. Her ears twitched as she continued to wag her tail, chatting with her friends.
Ning Chu finally sighed in relief, comparing her height of over 170 cm and those visible abs to his own frail, non-threatening self.
Not manly at all.
He couldn’t even be bothered to complain about his appearance, nor did he have any intention of hitting the gym to change it.
If it weren’t for the possibility of turning into a girl in this world, he’d just be a lazy fish who goes with the flow.
And honestly, even if he bulked up, being only 160 cm wouldn’t make that much of a difference.
“Alright, the three committee members stay behind; everyone else head home.”
As soon as Han Jingye spoke, the students erupted into chaos, scrambling towards the door.
“From now on, class meetings will mostly be held here…”
Before he could finish the sentence, only the three newly appointed committee members and a yawning Ning Chu, just now getting up from his seat, remained in the classroom.
Ning Chu blinked and dazedly looked around, finally fixing his gaze on Wen Yang.
“Wait up! Let’s go eat in the canteen together.”
“Okay.”
He sat back down, resting his face in the crook of his arm as if taking a little nap, while pushing his ears to the ground, intently listening to Han Jingye and the committee’s discussion, terrified of missing any vital details.
Ning Chu had combed through the plot concerning the instructor last night, only finding one short story about the unspoken rules.
In short: the instructor used scholarships as a bargaining chip to get a brilliant girl to make a move.
The key was these bargaining chips like scholarships…
What a scumbag!
“Tonight, collect students’ information; fill out the forms and send them to me.”
“Starting tomorrow, Wen Yang will take attendance. Report any absences or lateness to me.”
“During military training, buy two boxes of water and bread every day; if it’s not enough, buy more. By the way, I got a sun umbrella; you can grab it from the office tomorrow, so there’s some cover during breaks.”
“…”
Nothing of value heard… In fact, this instructor seems rather dedicated?
“Let’s go.” Wen Yang lightly tapped the table with a finger. “We’ve wrapped up; time to eat.”
“You didn’t sleep well last night? You’ve been all dazed today.”
Ning Chu stretched his arms high, yawning hard, and responded, “Ugh, not really.”
He was juggling Wen Yang’s conversation while subtly watching Han Jingye.
In truth, since the class meeting began, he had been gauging Han Jingye’s expressions, trying to see which girls he seemed drawn to.
But why the heck does he keep staring at me?
Ning Chu stood up, quickened his pace to catch up with Wen Yang, and quietly asked, “Did you notice? The instructor keeps looking at me.”
“Maybe he’s wondering why a girl is in the boys’ dorm?”
“……”
Wen Yang laughed, glancing down at Ning Chu’s clean, youthful face: “With your height and looks, it’d be weirder if nobody noticed you.”
“Good point.”
“Seems like you’re especially concerned about the instructor?”
Ning Chu paused: “Is it that noticeable?”
“Yup… You’re not crushing on him, are you?”
“I… cough! Cough!”
Ning Chu was caught off guard and choked, turning bright red as he regained his composure, finally spluttering an indignant protest.
“I like women!”
Since when did this straightforward Wen Yang start teasing him? Surely Zhang Shaoqing rubbed off on him!
