Trapped in Paradise – Chapter 78

078. Dull kn*fe Cutting Meat

At 8 PM, Ning Chu pushed open the door to the dormitory with impeccable timing.

He didn’t bother to enter, instead turning to watch Wen Yang, who was heading next door to play basketball. After a brief moment, he felt satisfied and stepped inside only when Wen Yang emerged.

Even in a boys’ dormitory, caution was necessary!

Although the rules expressly prohibited any females from entering, Ning Chu had seen his fair share of girls around the building.

“What are you waiting for?”

As soon as Wen Yang entered, he casually peeled off his sweat-soaked short sleeve, causing Ning Chu to inadvertently fixate on his tanned skin.

With arms raised high in a stretch, his toned waist was no longer hidden, revealing a set of abs gently peeking out with each breath. The defined “mermaid lines” tracing down his sides sculpted a V-shape, and his broad shoulders showcased clear deltoids.

His physique was something else, the kind that made any girl’s legs go weak.

d*mn, I’m so jealous!

Ning Chu quickly tore his gaze away, as if zapped by electricity, feeling a twinge of envy.

He chugged half a bottle of cola he’d left on the desk and casually asked, “You shower first, or should I?”

“Together?”

“……”

Having spent enough time with Zhang Shaoqing, Wen Yang had picked up the habit of teasing him. The once upright Ning Chu was starting to show signs of being “corrupted.”

Fortunately, Wen Yang was close enough that he hadn’t turned into a harem protagonist, even though he hung with the likes of Zhang Shaoqing.

Teasing as it was, with no answer from Ning Chu, Wen Yang continued, “Then I’ll shower first. Ten minutes.”

He walked over to the wardrobe and grabbed a short-sleeve shirt and shorts as makeshift pajamas, casually asking, “You look a bit under the weather. What’s up?”

“Just a slight headache, probably from not exercising for too long.”

He’d figured out the pattern of punishments associated with the plot. Whenever he disrupted Little Emperor Wen or prevented Zhang Shaoqing from going full villain, the consequences were severe—one time a sharp stomach ache and another a lingering fever that lasted half a day.

Other less critical plot points resulted in only mild discomfort, akin to a little cold, which was nothing for someone like Ning Chu, who had dealt with chronic gastritis before.

The more crucial the plot, the harsher the punishment.

Ning Chu couldn’t shake the feeling that some powerful force was a tad too angry at him, which was oddly amusing.

As Wen Yang stepped into the bathroom to shower, Ning Chu suddenly jumped up from his computer, lifted his shirt, ripped off the Band-Aids he’d been using as makeshift chest pads, and tossed them in the trash, throwing on a thin coat afterward.

He always felt something was off with those Band-Aids on.

But leaving the room bare seemed embarrassingly reminiscent of a girl going commando.

Before long, Wen Yang walked back in wearing only his underwear.

Ning Chu glanced over nonchalantly and noticed Wen Yang’s face turning visibly red.

What are you blushing about?!

Wen Yang hurriedly rushed to his desk and threw on his shirt and shorts, finally calming his embarrassment.

It suddenly occurred to him that he had started to see Ning Chu more and more like a girl.

No surprise, considering Ning’s doll-like face and, more recently, his chest that had transformed into little apples. Plus, there was that subtle, undeniable feminine charm he exuded.

He distinctly remembered Ning Chu looking like a boyish brat just last semester…

He mumbled to himself until he heard the sound of the balcony door closing, prompting him to look up.

Ning Chu was now in the shower.

In the next instant, Wen Yang’s mind conjured an image of Ning Chu showering in the buff.

“I’m not really gay, am I…” he thought, nervously searching online, before calming down. “Good, I’m not.”

Nan Tong only liked real men, and wouldn’t bat an eye at pretty boys like him—he was merely… unique.

He sighed in resignation. How could he not go a little weird living with such a pretty roommate?

He wondered what Zhang Shaoqing and Wang Jie thought about all this.

Wen Yang had intended to hit the library after basketball for some book borrowing, but Ning Chu’s unexpected aversion had derailed his plans and left him at a loose end.

Deciding to be productive, he grabbed a broom from the corner and started tidying up: “Black Bean, move it! Don’t pounce on the broom.”

Their little black cat spent most of its time eating and sleeping, with plenty of playful antics in between.

A light tap with the broom on Black Bean’s backside sent the cat scuttling off, crashing headfirst into Ning Chu’s trash can, tipping it upside down.

With a roll of his eyes, Wen Yang went over to clean but was caught off guard when he found two used Band-Aids among the mess.

“Got hurt? When did this happen?”

Furrowing his brows, his attention was suddenly diverted by an anguished wail that quickened his heartbeat.

Without a second thought, he rushed to the balcony door and knocked on the bathroom door: “What’s going on?!”

“……”

“You okay? Did you hit something?”

“I’m fine…”

The response was weak, as if hope had drained from life itself.

Wen Yang sensed something was off and anxiously pressed on, “What’s wrong, really?”

“I just… slipped.”

That wail was clearly not the typical “oops, I fell” reaction.

“You…”

“I’m showering! Can we chat later?”

Ning Chu’s voice shot up an octave, becoming sharp and filled with frustration, a hint of a whiny pitch creeping in.

“Whoa, why’s he suddenly so fierce…?” Wen Yang mused aloud.

“And with that tone, there’s no way he isn’t crying.”

The bathroom was enveloped in steam; the sound of falling water filled the air.

Standing under the showerhead, Ning Chu gazed at his own reflection, despondently inspecting his lower half, letting out a heavy sigh.

It would be better to just increase the cup size…

What used to be a boyish body was morphing into something resembling a delicate figurine—he couldn’t even support himself in the restroom anymore, relegating himself to squatting.

Not to mention he’d somehow figured out how to draw his “male parts” up and away.

The psychological effect was killer.

If it was just a little size loss, Ning Chu could accept it somewhat, but after closer examination, he realized that his external features seemed to be shifting towards being internal.

That’s just unscientific!

If this continued for a few more plot points, he’d end up a full-on girl, no contest.

Leaning helplessly against the tiled wall, he stared blankly at the orange glow of the light above.

“Why not just let me transmigrate into a female supporting character,” he lamented, chest tight and heart aching like it was being squeezed, “dull kn*fe cutting meat…”

He had always known he couldn’t change his future to become a girl, but as that day loomed closer, anxiety bubbled up within him—fear and dread took hold… His head hung low, shoulders trembling, hands covering his face.

He wasn’t nearly as brave or optimistic as he’d always imagined.

I can’t believe it! I got too addicted to writing and dreamed last night that I had transformed into Ning Chu, stuck between two guys!

Woke up scared!
