092. You’re the Main Character!
As a good student, Wen Yang decided to ditch class.
He brought Ning Chu and the Wolf Girl to a quiet corner on the second floor of the cafeteria.
Wen Yang furrowed his brows, looking as serious as a kid who just found out Santa isn’t real. The Wolf Girl drooped her eyes, still in that wilted state, while Ning Chu blankly rested her head on the table, as if life had lost all meaning.
How did we suddenly trigger a plot here?!
He kept a wary eye on Succubus Lily, terrified that Wen Yang might actually start chatting her up. He could sense something was off with the instructor too, worried that he might end up as a victim in this story.
They were supposed to cruise through this! But then, out pops a Wolf Girl, dragging him into the drama!
The novel said the instructor would use scholarship money to threaten a girl, and here they were, just a month and a half into the semester! Where’s the scholarship money coming from?
And the book never mentioned the poor victim having any traits of a beast girl!
He was about to cry, his mind flashing with the impulse to just run away with Wen Yang and avoid this mess altogether.
It’s just an unfamiliar background character…
But seeing the Wolf Girl’s pitiful state made it impossible to make up his mind.
If that scumbag Han Jingye got his way, this girl’s life would be ruined.
Now all he could do was pray that this transformation wouldn’t turn him directly into a girl.
“Vice-Class Leader, what’s your name again?” Ning Chu asked weakly, “I don’t even know you…”
“Yan Xinya.”
Compared to the names of most background characters in Little Emperor Wen, the Wolf Girl’s name was quite pleasant.
He responded lightly and shifted his gaze to Wen Yang.
Wen Yang still looked bewildered, his disbelief lingering. He was just a bit jealous, trying to scare Ning Chu by saying that Han Jingye was a pervert, and now it seemed that prophecy was coming true?
He felt a shiver run down his spine; given Ning Chu’s personality, if she truly was being harassed, she’d probably just keep it to herself instead of asking for help like the Wolf Girl.
“Why did you come to me?” Wen Yang lowered his head, his face turning red with embarrassment and guilt, “I don’t have the ability to help…”
Yan Xinya’s expression grew even more despondent, her shoulders trembling: “I told my roommates, but they didn’t believe me. They thought I was the one flirting.”
“I reported it too, but…”
Ning Chu interrupted the Wolf Girl: “It’s alright. Wen Yang can handle it.”
“???”
Wen Yang looked at Ning Chu in shock.
Hold on, he’s just an ordinary dude! How’s he supposed to solve this problem?
“What? You don’t want to help?”
“It’s not that… We should at least hear the details first.”
He awkwardly scratched the back of his head. Besides being a bit more popular with girls, he didn’t have anything that would warrant Ning Chu’s confidence in him, right?
Yan Xinya hunched her shoulders, fingers entwined, but she remained silent.
Ning Chu sighed, exuding a sense of despair greater than that of the Wolf Girl.
In the book, Han Jingye threatened a girl using scholarship money to manipulate her into a compromising position.
But the timing, location, and characters were all wrong! The real plot should hit during finals or the start of the next semester, and the girl wasn’t even a beast girl! So, if they didn’t take care of Han Jingye now, more girls would end up in this situation!
Little Emperor Wen had a totally skewed moral compass; he wrote and thought only about dramatic twists, but when such things happened in real life, it was suffocating.
It’s as if many people in the second dimension were into loli or whatever, but in reality, not many sane people would target girls under sixteen. This isn’t just about legal issues; it’s a moral boundary that sensible folks refuse to cross.
Seeing that Yan Xinya still hadn’t spoken, Ning Chu, barely holding onto his will to live, asked with a mournful expression, more pitiful than the Wolf Girl: “Didn’t he start by chatting with you online? Checking in on your life…?”
Yan Xinya paused for a moment and nodded.
“Can we see the chat logs?”
“Deleted… I reacted really strongly, and he said if I deleted it, he wouldn’t bother me anymore.” The Wolf Girl placed her phone on the table, then continued after a brief pause, “Later, after I reported it, the police came by to talk to him, but there wasn’t much evidence.”
“But I thought, if I didn’t say anything, other girls could end up in this situation… but I didn’t know what to do by myself.”
So Yan Xinya had already taken quite reasonable steps to protect herself.
Wen Yang frowned, just a moment ago he claimed he had no abilities, but now he was trying to professionally tape record everything and had picked up her phone to recover the deleted chat logs.
“Well, so reporting it is useful; there’s just no evidence,” Ning Chu muttered. Ever since he successfully reported that wild villa party, he knew the world had some degree of enforcement against such stuff! Aside from the Little Emperor Wen plots, other things all seemed relatively normal.
The world he came from wasn’t devoid of Little Emperor Wen plots; they were just hidden where he couldn’t see, like the “Eel Incident,” or some extravagant feasts… and there were always some absurd news or scandals popping up.
Unfortunately, he himself was a character within this plot, stuck in the web and unable to escape.
“Evidence…” Wen Yang sighed in frustration as he put down the phone, “I tried; I can’t restore the chat logs. I’ll give it another shot when I get back to the dorm.”
The recovery feature from the app didn’t work, so he’d have to try a computer program.
“I don’t think we need to go that far; having evidence would be great, but if not, that’s fine,” Ning Chu propped himself up and looked at Wen Yang, “How about you report it?”
“Me?”
“Yeah, if you report it, maybe it will be resolved!”
Wen Yang’s incredulity mixed with laughter: “What power do I have?”
But you’re the main character! The chosen one of the world! Wrapped in a halo of protagonist magic!
Ning Chu looked at Wen Yang encouragingly, which only made him feel more anxious, utterly confused as to where Ning Chu’s confidence in him was coming from.
Did he appear all-powerful in Ning Chu’s eyes?
“Go for it!”
Those big sparkling eyes full of hope stared at him, and in that moment, he felt like he could really do anything.
This feeling of being counted on by Ning Chu…
Having never encountered anything like this, his anxiety ebbed away, and confidence filled his chest: “Sure! I’ll report it!”
“If it doesn’t lead anywhere, we’ll blow this up! I refuse to believe nobody will care!”
“Right!” Ning Chu nodded enthusiastically, “I almost fell for it too!”
This little pep talk only made Wen Yang angrier, flickering back to his earlier fear. He ground his teeth and said, “We’ve gotta throw him behind bars!”
“Make him pay!”
Yan Xinya noticed that the two of them seemed even more fired up than she was.
But she felt particularly grateful and kept saying, “Thank you, thank you…”
“Don’t mention it! Just make sure you don’t talk to Wen Yang anymore,” Ning Chu added, to ward off any potential threats.
“Okay! He’s yours!” Yan Xinya obediently nodded, “I won’t compete with you.”
“???”
