Trapped in Paradise – Chapter 214

230. A Naughty Ghost

Let Wen Yang keep an eye on the library’s one and only entrance while Ning Chu wandered a few laps inside, but she still couldn’t find An An anywhere.

She was pretty much sure of it.

An An was the one who got possessed by the protagonist in the book and ended up a cantankerous female ghost, her legs stuck together in an awkward position.

Though she didn’t know whether that ghost would cause harm or how exactly it would go about it, she was certain about one thing—An An was definitely craving for Wen Yang’s body!

What a naughty ghost!

Thinking back to the couple she had stumbled upon during her late-night adventures at the teaching building, it was possible they weren’t a couple at all but rather students being seduced by the ghost and drained of their yang energy.

This ghost not only became part of the school’s teaching staff but could also roam during the day like a phantom. If it weren’t for Wen Yang’s objection, Ning Chu might even contemplate asking him to take a few days off.

After all, if one day that ghost fixated on him, Wen Yang was just a little virgin with no exorcism skills whatsoever. And he certainly didn’t have any ghost-busting props that could harm a ghost!

What if he ended up turned into a dried carcass?

“It’s definitely a ghost!”

After another fruitless lap around the library, Ning Chu returned to Wen Yang’s side, a serious expression plastered on her face.

Wen Yang could only nod in resignation and agreed, “Yeah, it’s a female ghost.”

Seeing his casual demeanor, Ning Chu fidgeted nervously, pulling out her mobile phone to scour the school forum for ghost stories like the one they were facing.

Surprisingly, she stumbled upon plenty of interesting content.

Some people claimed to have heard strange noises coming from the bathroom, while others said they saw a flash of a red-clad figure. There were even some wild stories about people spending the night with the ghost, leaving them weak in the legs for days.

Most students dismissed these forum threads as urban legends, not taking them seriously at all.

However, the description of the ghost in the posts bore an uncanny resemblance to An An’s outfit—a long red dress with spaghetti straps.

This only solidified Ning Chu’s suspicions, and she thrust her phone at Wen Yang.

“Look, she’s always in red!”

Wen Yang glanced at the posts, hesitated, then looked back at her earnest expression.

“If it were really haunted, the school would have reacted by now, right?”

Though he remained skeptical, Ning Chu’s intensity did start to gnaw at his doubts a bit.

“Isn’t your uncle a professional? Maybe give him a call?”

“Well…”

“Just chatting, right? He just had surgery; check up on his health.”

Ning Chu was still hoping that Wen Yang’s uncle might solve this issue.

There was no way she’d let Wen Yang face a ghost alone!

Was she supposed to train him for ghost combat?

Even if it was a ghost and not a human, she couldn’t just push her boyfriend into the line of fire.

Seeing her anxiousness, Wen Yang reluctantly nodded, took his phone, and stood up, heading towards the library’s exit.

Ning Chu followed closely, stepping outside onto the hallway. She leaned on the railing, listening to Wen Yang’s phone call with his uncle.

“No way! Uncle, didn’t you say this is all just superstition? Is it really possible it’s a ghost?”

“Uh? Me? No way, I have no idea how to exorcise ghosts!”

“C’mon! It’s just a few hours by car.”

Wen Yang hung up, forcing a smile, and turned to Ning Chu, his lips twitching: “It’s a no-go; my uncle can’t come. He just had surgery.”

“See! I told you it’s a female ghost, didn’t I?”

He ran his fingers through his hair, suddenly feeling that building swirl with an eerie chill.

Looking suspiciously down the dark hallway, Wen Yang frowned and asked, “Am I being targeted?”

“Likely!”

In Little Emperor Wen’s plot, the female ghost would openly seduce the male lead, not realizing he was prepared. After a fierce battle, too much yang energy would flood into him, sending her spirit scattering.

Or, in other words, she would end up broken.

If a ghost couldn’t handle it, just imagine what a succubus would do!

Last night, Ning Chu had even felt relieved that Wen Yang wasn’t as skilled as described in the book, but after his second attempt, she realized that his first performance was just due to sheer nerves.

Wen Yang paced back and forth in the hallway, his mind racing.

He was surprisingly calm, having had prior encounters with An An that let him slip away easily.

“Let’s not overthink it; we just need to be cautious,” Ning Chu tried to soothe him, but her brows were knitted tight, her mind racing with thoughts on how to deal with the ghost.

There was a ghost haunting the teaching building, always fixated on her man…

Even if Wen Yang could resist temptation, what if he slipped up and got groped?

It made her bl**d boil thinking about it.

“Silly fox,” Ning Chu muttered.

Why did the novel have to include an uninvited naughty ghost?

She shouldn’t have even touched the Exorcist series! What a waste of time!

With no heart left to read in the library, Wen Yang and Ning Chu leisurely made their way down to a small garden not far from the teaching building.

In the center of the garden was a small artificial lake, and a few free yellow duck pedal boats were docked nearby.

Ning Chu took a seat on a bench, glancing around and noticing plenty of couples being lovey-dovey.

She looked up at Wen Yang standing by the lake and called, “Come sit here.”

“Do you think that ghost eats people?”

“If it really ate people, there would have been a huge uproar long ago!”

Now feeling relieved, Wen Yang plopped down next to Ning Chu, threw his leg over his knee, and grumbled, “My uncle actually told me to go exorcise the ghost, like I’m definitely all good at it.”

Ning Chu shook her head vigorously, “We’re not going! What if we really provoke the ghost and it starts eating people?”

She absolutely refused to let Wen Yang go willingly.

After all, she had transformed from a girl into a girlfriend just to safeguard Wen Yang’s virginity; she had worked too hard to allow a ghost to swoop in and snatch the fruit.

“Does your uncle not have any friends? Can’t he find someone trustworthy to help?”

“I’ll ask him again. Maybe I can get him to send me some protective gear.”

Ning Chu pondered how to sabotage the ghost’s storyline, realizing that aside from exorcism, there really didn’t seem to be many good alternatives.

After all, the plot in the book had the ghost craving the male lead’s body, only to be backstabbed later.

“I’ll just avoid any girl in red from now on.”

Wen Yang tried calling his uncle once more, but this time, it went unanswered.

With a sigh, he turned to Ning Chu, asking, “What do you think the ghost wants from me? I can’t shake the feeling that she’s… trying to seduce me?”

“No idea? Maybe she wants to absorb your yang energy or something?”

“Huh… like in those ghost stories from ‘Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio’?”

His face lit up with a hint of anticipation, but upon seeing Ning Chu squint her eyes disapprovingly, he quickly corrected himself, “I’ll just be careful from now on; if I encounter any girls in red, I will run far away.”

“Agreed.”

“And then there’s the health check coming up in a couple of days…”

Ning Chu’s face suddenly morphed into a bitter melon.

“I scored two health check-up forms early from the instructor,” Wen Yang seemed to pull a magic trick, producing neatly folded health forms from his jacket pocket, “So, when the time comes, just go with students from other classes. If someone’s a coward, just take Xinya or Lily with you.”

“From other classes?”

“Yeah, I checked it out. From tomorrow until Friday, each afternoon, the school will arrange for classes to take turns for check-ups; nobody will know if you mix in with them.” He outlined his plan, “Our class has its check-up on Friday afternoon; you just need to do all the checks before that and hand them back to me.”

Ning Chu mulled over Wen Yang’s plan for a moment and found it to be quite clever.

No one in the other classes would recognize her, so she wouldn’t have to deal with being treated like a boy; she could casually join the girls for the health check-up.
