242. Daily Life After Having a Daughter
“Stay at home and don’t open the door for anyone, okay?”
Before heading out to the cafeteria to grab some food for Black Bean, Ning Chu repeated her instructions like a mantra.
“Okay!”
Black Bean knelt by the bedside, nodding her little head.
Compared to other kids around ten who made even dogs cringe, the half-year-old Black Bean had already proven to be remarkably well-behaved.
When Black Bean was still a cat, Ning Chu had taught her well~
She slipped out of her long nightgown, swapped it for some guy’s clothes, grabbed her umbrella, and headed out in flip-flops.
The rain outside was coming down in buckets. Even with an umbrella, it was useless; her pant legs quickly got soaked. But in her heart, she was troubled about Black Bean.
It was confirmed that Black Bean’s mother would be picking her up at the end of the month.
Now, here’s the dilemma: how on Earth does one take care of a ten-year-old for an entire month?
And since Black Bean would be stuck in the rental apartment, how could she and Wen Yang be affectionate…? No, it was precisely because Black Bean was there! That meant Wen Yang wouldn’t get the chance to “devour” her this month!
But when it came to intimacy, perhaps they’d have to endure it.
Thinking about this, Ning Chu suddenly recalled the profound pleasure from last night, making her shudder and turn a shade of red.
If all else fails, maybe she could just book a hotel room with Wen Yang…
She hopped onto the bus heading to school.
True, the cafeteria’s fast food wasn’t exactly gourmet, but it was cheap. If all she wanted was meat, the cafeteria was the best option.
A single serving of meat only cost around six or seven bucks, which was a steal given the skyrocketing prices these days.
Even a simple green pepper and stir-fried meat dish at a restaurant outside the campus would set her back nearly twenty.
At ten o’clock, the cafeteria’s fast food window hadn’t started serving much yet.
Ning Chu took a quick glance around the cafeteria, not spotting any meat options, so she found a spot to sit and wait.
Having been away from the rental apartment for just half an hour, she couldn’t shake her anxious thoughts about Black Bean, worrying that the little catgirl might open the door and wander outside.
“Hey~ why are you at the cafeteria on a weekend?”
A familiar, cheeky voice came from behind. Ning Chu turned around to see Zhang Shaoqing, the biggest victim in Black Bean’s transformation into a catgirl.
If he had to take care of Black Bean for another day, he might just end up with a child bride.
If that was a crime, he might already have a wife.
But now, Ning Chu definitely couldn’t hand over a ten-year-old catgirl to Zhang Shaoqing, right? She’d have to wait eight years for that!
Even though the content in Little Emperor Wen was pretty scandalous, this was reality.
“Just grabbing some food to go.”
Ning Chu turned to Zhang Shaoqing, who still looked as carefree as before, hands stuffed in his pockets, swaying as he walked.
She frowned slightly, asking, “Why are you alone?”
“Wang Jie went to hang out with his girlfriend~”
Zhang Shaoqing replied, wobbling his way over to the food window, then returned to sit beside Ning Chu after getting his meal.
But after just one bite, he suddenly realized his roommate was a girl and awkwardly shifted away, putting two seats between them, creating a distance of half a meter.
“Hey, is Black Bean doing fine over there?”
“Um… she’s a bit too used to it.”
“What do you mean? Was she out dancing like a mad cat last night?”
If only it were just dancing~
Ning Chu shook her head, troubled, and hurried to the window as new dishes came out.
“Takeout, sweet and sour pork, add… a braised chicken leg, and a stir-fried cauliflower with meat, plus some braised eggplant… three servings of rice.”
She ordered six dishes in total, planning to call Wen Yang back to the rental apartment for lunch, killing two birds with one stone.
Nine takeout boxes filled two bags, and Ning Chu walked over to Zhang Shaoqing, calling out, “I’m off!”
“Hey! Why’re you buying so much? For Wen Yang?”
“None of your business.”
Zhang Shaoqing watched Ning Chu leave the cafeteria, mumbling, “Let’s see how long you two can keep it a secret.”
“d*mn it, Wen Yang really has no standards! Eating his own backyard!”
“So boring~”
……
“Look, here’s the meat you wanted.”
Back at the rental apartment, Ning Chu lined up the takeout boxes on the coffee table.
In the astonished and admiring gaze of Black Bean, Ning Chu proudly put her hands on her hips and huffed, “Dig in~”
“Mom is amazing! You bought so much!”
“Call me sister…”
She twitched her mouth and quickly texted Wen Yang: “Come back for lunch, I got a ton of dishes from the cafeteria.”
“Got it, I’ll be right back.”
Wen Yang was nearby delivering food in the city, so his return was pretty convenient.
Just over ten minutes later, the sound of keys unlocking at the door caught Ning Chu’s attention.
She shot up and hurried to the door.
When it opened, there stood Wen Yang in a transparent raincoat, water dripping everywhere.
He tucked his hands into his pockets and took off his raincoat at the door, looking up to see Ning Chu, and grinned, “It’s pouring, and the delivery fee went up quite a bit since last week.”
“Be careful when you’re delivering in the rain.”
“Don’t worry.”
Despite the raincoat, his clothes and pants were still drenched, and water dripped from his hair.
Ning Chu quickly dashed to the bathroom and returned with a dry towel, grumbling, “You’re making a mess of the house! Hurry up and dry off!”
“Okay.”
As Wen Yang stepped inside, he noticed Ning Chu already holding the towel, standing on her tiptoes to help dry his wet hair.
His gentle gaze remained on her as he smiled and took the towel from her, “I can handle it myself.”
“Dad~ it’s time for dinner!”
He turned to the sofa, where Black Bean was waving her greasy chopsticks, her lips filled with rice.
His smile softened even more; he truly felt the warmth of a family of three.
A beautiful, virtuous wife, a cute, obedient daughter, and him, the hardworking breadwinner… but the family unit was a bit too complicated, given that catgirl didn’t quite look biologically related.
“Clean up and let’s eat, it’s already getting cold.”
Ning Chu closed the door and turned to Wen Yang, “Once the rain stops, let’s go shop for some clothes for Black Bean. She can’t just stay home all the time, right?”
Black Bean hadn’t developed a figure yet; at one meter thirty-four, buying clothes wouldn’t be a challenge.
“Sure.”
“If you want to stay home, it’s fine by me.” Black Bean quickly shook her head, refusing, “I don’t want to go outside.”
“You’ll get bored staying at home all the time.”
“I won’t!”
Ning Chu wanted to convince her more, but Black Bean was already impatiently swishing her tail, burying her head in her food and ignoring her.
Wen Yang grabbed a small stool and sat down opposite her on the sofa, casually explaining, “Her personality is pretty much like a cat’s now; she won’t be too bored at home alone.”
“I can sleep!”
“No way!” Almost simultaneously, Ning Chu and Wen Yang shouted in protest.
Cats can nap all day and dance at night, but a catgirl’s nighttime dancing would make it impossible for anyone to sleep!
