95. Love at First Sight
At six o’clock, the school bell rang.
Zhang Shaoqing leaped up with a jolt, unable to contain his excitement as he dashed toward the podium.
“Teacher, I don’t understand a particular concept!”
He lunged toward the front, hands firmly planted on the podium, eagerly shouting at Teacher Qian.
As a teacher, Qian Qian was always willing to help her students. She paused her tidying up, looked up, and smiled warmly at Zhang Shaoqing: “Sure, I just happen to have some time.”
Qian Qian’s soft, slightly raspy voice melted Zhang Shaoqing’s bones. He grabbed his textbook, lowered his head, and suddenly fell silent.
What if I don’t understand the whole book…?
He was just a wealthy second-generation who spent his days eating and waiting for d*ath, after all. Is it so unreasonable not to pay attention in class?!
“Um… I don’t quite get this part.”
“And this part, too…”
Qian Qian’s gentle smile slowly faded: “This… might take a while to explain.”
“Teacher, why don’t we add each other on WeChat? If I run into more questions online, I can just ask you there too.”
Although she had just started working, she wasn’t a fool. She soon realized that Zhang Shaoqing’s interest wasn’t exactly in the subject. She looked at him with a mix of suspicion.
It was a gaze that felt almost predatory, enough to make anyone tremble.
“Teacher, I really don’t understand.”
“Alright then…”
Ning Chu and Wen Yang weren’t in a rush to leave and sat up to watch the drama unfold.
“Wow! What an aggressive approach!” Ning Chu exclaimed, “If he pursued Ling Ling with this same directness, he wouldn’t have lost his childhood sweetheart!”
She felt a bit more at ease; though his tactic was shameless and fully dedicated, it was entirely in line with Zhang Shaoqing’s delinquent persona.
At least he wasn’t using those intimidating tactics that villains do.
“He’s learned his lesson, afraid of being intercepted again,” Wen Yang observed. This was the most excited he had seen Zhang Shaoqing. Previously, the catgirls had only elicited mild interest from him, but this time he was acting desperately.
It seemed like men really did prefer an ocean of waves.
Those previous catgirls were just too dull.
And his little Succubus had slowly blossomed into a full-blown Succubus after some serious nurturing.
“Got it!”
Zhang Shaoqing strutted back with pride, practically bouncing as he walked.
Ning Chu looked up and asked, “You just got her WeChat. What’s your plan now?”
“Uh… let’s take it step by step?”
“Hey! Can you give me back that spray? Just in case things go awry…”
“No way!”
Wow! You’re already thinking of sneaky tactics before we even start!
“Hey, it was mine to begin with,” Zhang Shaoqing turned and asked Wang Jie, “Do you have any questions? I can ask the teacher for you.”
“You know it all?”
“Heh~ Who do you think I am?” He slapped his textbook. “I don’t understand a thing! It’s like ancient hieroglyphics to me!”
Looks like this guy plans to play the role of a diligent student to get closer to Qian Qian.
“Hurry up, everyone give me some advice.”
Zhang Shaoqing perched opposite them, eagerly looking on: “I’ve never chased a girl before. Do any of you have experience? Spill it!”
“……”
Suddenly, silence fell, and they exchanged looks.
“Wang Jie, you go first!”
“Me? I was the one being pursued, I’ve told you before.”
“And what about you two? It’s not like Ning Chu chased you down, right?”
Wen Yang shook his head and hesitated before responding, “When the feelings are right, you just naturally end up together…”
He then posed a question: “Wait a minute, the teacher’s at least got a master’s degree. Do you really want to pursue her?”
“Age is just a number! What’s wrong with dating an older woman?”
“But the school doesn’t allow student-teacher relationships.”
“Who cares what the school thinks! Those incompetent leaders can’t even manage their own affairs, let them mind their own business!”
Zhang Shaoqing didn’t give a hoot about that, cursing as he turned to Ning Chu: “Ning Chu! You’re a girl; what’s your perspective on this?”
“I…”
Ning Chu was even more flustered.
She had only been a girl for a few months; before that, she was a total newbie in romance! What did she know?
“Why did you like Wen Yang then? What do girls usually like in a guy?”
She couldn’t understand how the conversation had turned to her.
Her face was turning red as she stammered out, “Wen Yang is tall, and he gives… a sense of security…”
When she first crossed over to this world, she had felt lost. Zhang Shaoqing was always at odds with her, Wang Jie seemed to be invisible, and only Wen Yang had treated her kindly.
When she had transformed into a girl and fainted in fear, it was Wen Yang who had rushed her to the hospital.
As she feared the dangers of Little Emperor Wen’s world, she found solace in Wen Yang’s male lead identity, believing that with him around, she would be safe.
“Is that it?” Zhang Shaoqing scoffed. “You guys have no constructive advice whatsoever.”
“We do,” someone called out.
“Like what?”
“Don’t resort to underhanded tricks! If you like her, just pursue her honestly!” Ning Chu rolled her eyes at him. “Just a while ago, you were even thinking about using the hypnosis spray!”
Zhang Shaoqing exclaimed, “That was just me talking big!”
Does anyone really believe that?
Ning Chu grabbed Wen Yang and stood up: “We’re heading back.”
“Hey! How about you help me get close to Qian Qian as an inside man?”
“Let’s talk about it tomorrow.”
“Why are you in such a hurry to leave?”
To be honest, Ning Chu wasn’t optimistic about Zhang Shaoqing.
It wasn’t that Zhang Shaoqing’s conditions were bad; though he seemed pretty laid-back, his family background alone was enough to defeat 99% of single males.
The main problem was his overly controlling mother…
In the evening, the temperature dropped significantly, and the chilly wind made Ning Chu shrink her neck.
She pulled her scarf up, covering half her face and only revealing her bright eyes as she gazed ahead.
“You missed the bus stop,” Wen Yang said, glancing back at the bus station.
“I want to grab some snacks~”
“I can buy you something warm to eat; it’s cold.”
When Ning Chu shook her head, he stepped closer, taking her cold, smooth hand and wrapping it tightly in his warm palm: “Your hands are freezing! Why not put them in your pockets?”
“I want to play on my phone.”
Ning Chu could clearly feel the warmth radiating from Wen Yang’s palm. She unconsciously leaned in closer, as if that alone could warm her up.
Under the darkened sky, the streetlights cast long shadows of the two, their tall, slender figures intertwined.
Leaves fell from above, spinning down in front of her before the cold wind carried them away.
She squinted and asked, “Wen Yang.”
“Yeah?”
“My feet hurt.”
“Then why don’t you head back?”
“Carry me!”
Wen Yang was taken aback, instinctively yielding with a smile as he shook his head and squatted down: “You’re just too lazy to walk, aren’t you?”
Suddenly, Ning Chu lunged onto Wen Yang’s back, catching him off guard and nearly sending him toppling forward.
He barely regained his balance but felt her icy face pressed against his cheek, gently nuzzling him like a cat.
“Your face is all warm~”
“Am I your human heater now?” He chuckled softly as he lifted Ning Chu’s legs but suddenly felt a shiver run down his spine, gasping, “Don’t push your hands around my body!”
“I’ll treat you to ice cream!”
