333. The Malice of Humanity
“Look who finally decided to come back?”
As lunch approached, Ning Chu’s mother looked up from her chores, spotting her daughter’s guilt-ridden face as she entered the room.
“I can’t believe you’ve been off studying for months and now that you’re back, you barely stay home…”
Her words faltered, as she eyed Ning Chu suspiciously, causing Ning Chu to feel even more flustered.
“Mom! I’m just going to play on the computer in my room!”
Ning Chu turned to bolt, but her mother caught on, taking note of something strange. “You look… healthy?”
“Uh…”
“Did you take the necessary precautions?”
Come on! She’d showered several times already, and there was no trace of Wen Yang left on her!
Plus, the swelling had gone down quite a bit. She was trying her hardest to walk normally; how did her mother see through it so easily?
Ning Chu was stumped as to where she might have slipped up.
Is this what it means to be a seasoned succubus?
After a significant pause, her mother seemed to get it, waving her hand in resignation. “Alright, alright, go wash your hands. Dinner’s almost ready.”
“Okay!”
Not hearing any teasing from her mom, Ning Chu felt a rush of relief and dashed toward the bathroom.
“Ning Xin~ You might be getting another sister~”
But then her mother’s voice called out to Black Bean behind her.
Ning Chu’s steps faltered. “Mom! Don’t mess around with Black Bean!”
“Shouldn’t you be taking care of yourself? It’s not like the babies come from men, you know! You should be able to protect your own body!”
“I took my meds…”
“Medications are supposed to magically fix everything for you?”
Ning Chu, seeing her mother’s furious expression, sheepishly lowered her head. “Sorry! I won’t do it again!”
She slipped into the bathroom and let out a sorrowful sigh as she gazed at her reflection.
No matter how much she had resisted before, she had now taken the most significant step as a succubus… she was indeed a qualified one now.
Just months ago she was a guy.
She remembered transforming into a girl; her innocent face only had those peach blossom eyes that hinted at allure.
But now? This face was pure and cute, radiating an undeniable seductiveness—it was impossible to see the old her.
Ning Chu looked down at a bruise on her neck, probably the telltale sign her mother had caught on to.
After all, a succubus could be notably sensitive to masculine scents, unlike a wolf girl with a dog-like sense of smell.
Or perhaps it was her increasingly mature charm?
After washing her hands and face, Ning Chu, still not eager to face her mother, steeled herself and returned to the living room, sitting down at the dining table.
As soon as she sat, Black Bean, who had been munching away, lifted her head, twitching her little nose, sniffing around Ning Chu.
Ning Chu’s face flushed with embarrassment as she pushed Black Bean’s head down firmly. “Eat!”
“Okay~”
Cats can be pretty perceptive too; she probably caught on to something.
Ning Chu awkwardly picked at her food and discreetly raised her eyebrows to gauge her mother’s mood.
Her mom did not look pleased, her brows knitted and tense. It was hard to tell if her irritation sprang from anger at Ning Chu’s reckless behavior, or if it stemmed from the lack of precautions.
Feeling increasingly guilty, Ning Chu shoved some rice into her mouth, daring not to reach for any of her mother’s favorite dishes laid out on the table.
Black Bean sensed the odd atmosphere, her big eyes darting between their mother and Ning Chu. “Sis, what were you up to last night? Mom was super mad when she came home this morning.”
“Just went out to have fun,” Ning Chu muttered, head down, mentally marking Black Bean for betraying her! That little cat didn’t hesitate to spill all the beans! And after she’d treated Black Bean to roast chicken last night too!
“What time did you go to bed?” Ning Chu felt safe thinking her mother wouldn’t be too mad about her stay-out-all-night antics, but she probably was still focused on Black Bean.
“I didn’t sleep!”
As expected…
Her mom shot a glare at Ning Chu. “I asked you to keep an eye on her, told you to make sure she went to bed by ten, and when I got back, she was still playing on her tablet.”
“So Mom’s mad because you didn’t go to bed.”
“Cats are meant to be nocturnal!” Black Bean declared boldly.
Ning Chu frowned, stealing a glance at her mother, contemplating for a moment. “Mom, Wen Yang came over for dinner.”
Originally, she planned to tidy up her rental apartment in the evening, but she just didn’t have the energy, and Wen Yang wouldn’t let her do anything. The chaos of the place was unbearable.
Her mother nodded, expressionless.
Ning Chu let out a breath of relief, quickly finishing off a small bowl of rice, letting out a loud burp.
She placed her dirty dishes in the kitchen, before hurriedly making her way back to the small bedroom.
Now she understood why succubi were incredibly sensitive yet had such strong combat capabilities.
Even though this was her first time and Wen Yang had been in a frenzy, she hadn’t felt any fatigue or pain; instead, she felt energized and somewhat addicted to the overwhelming joy.
This can’t continue!
Thank goodness for her past identity as a male—what a shameful thing to have fallen so low…
Otherwise, she’d be just like those insatiable female protagonists from eroge!
Ning Chu sat in front of her computer, resting her chin on one hand, the other anxiously rubbing her stomach.
She took her meds, so it should be fine, right?
Letting out a melancholic sigh, she muttered, “Lily has been a succubus for nearly twenty years, and here I am, catching up in just a few months…”
Lily was the shame of their kind!
Ning Chu opened Lily’s chat and sent a message: “Want me to hook you up with a boyfriend? He’ll definitely treat you well!”
Since they were best friends, dragging Lily down into the darkness together seemed only fitting!
Is this the ugliness of human nature?!
“???”
“How about my older brother? He’s so polite and pretty handsome~ Plus, he’s pretty well-endowed!”
Her brother was getting older too. Not to mention marriage, but he should at least start dating.
One stone, two birds! Though indeed, her brother had the looks, but given how he couldn’t muster any energy lately, if he really got together with Lily, he might just end up drained dry.
“How do you know?” However, Lily’s focus was rather strange.
Uh, well… they had shared a bathroom when she was still a guy!
Ning Chu didn’t reply; instead, she sent a picture of her brother. “Isn’t he handsome?”
Lily seemed slightly interested. “Send me his friend info! But don’t tell him.”
“Sure!”
“You seem way more open today than usual.” She sent a ‘truth has only one.jpg’ emoji. “Have you already gone all in?”
Did the online universe really see right through her?!
Ning Chu instinctively denied it: “No.”
Compared to how Lily teased her online usually, today she was definitely too proactive.
“What’s it like? You’ve got to give me all the juicy details!”
“I’m napping! Bye!”
