335. The Struggles of Black Bean
“Brother-in-law! Take this away! Get rid of it quickly! I don’t want these things!”
“No, really, it’s good for you to study more when you have the time.”
“I don’t want it! You’re plotting against me!”
In the bathroom, as Ning Chu turned off the showerhead, she heard a commotion outside that sounded like a mini tornado.
With suspicion, she sniffed her arm. It only smelled like shower gel, which presumably wouldn’t leave any other scent behind.
But with how much Wen Yang had shed last night, she had marinated in it for hours before being thoroughly cleaned—who knows…
Walking barefoot out of the bathroom, she stepped onto the absorbent rug, picked up the towel hanging nearby, and dried herself off.
Draped in a fluffy cotton bathrobe, she wrapped it around herself, tying the belt securely. Even though she hadn’t bothered with underwear underneath, there were no outsiders in the house, so she wasn’t worried about any wardrobe malfunctions.
The robe was snug on top, but the belt cinched at her waist, highlighting her delicate curves and fuller backside. With her body developing, it was hard to not radiate a certain allure, no matter what she wore.
This must be what the protagonist of a certain genre is like…
With a little pampering from a man, she might be breaking into a B-cup before she even knows it.
Ning Chu thought it might be time to buy a new set of underwear.
She gave the bathroom floor a quick wipe, tidied up the leftover water, and then sauntered out.
“What’s going on? Why all the noise?”
She tiptoed into the raucous living room, hugging herself.
Black Bean was clutching a plastic bag, panting as she chased Wen Yang, who was running in circles with her, while their mother simply leaned back on the sofa, chin in hand, enjoying the show.
“Sis! Wen Yang is bullying me!” Black Bean spotted Ning Chu and ran over with a face full of grievances, looking up at her with big sad eyes. “Sis! Look what he gave me! He can’t stand to see me happy!”
“Wow, look at that, ‘brother-in-law’ has been dropped…”
Ning Chu took the plastic bag, peeked inside, and nearly burst out laughing. But seeing Black Bean’s teary-eyed expression, she bit her lip to suppress the laughter.
“Homework?”
“Yeah! I have so much homework to do! It’s going to take me an hour! And he’s added more!”
An hour isn’t really that much…
Ning Chu rifled through the contents of the bag, reassuring her, “Don’t worry, just do a couple of pages from those extra workbooks and Wen Yang will treat you to a meal.”
“Really?”
Black Bean turned to look at Wen Yang.
“Really.”
“Thanks, brother-in-law! I’m going to do it right now!” Black Bean snatched the plastic bag and dashed into her bedroom.
Wen Yang shook his head helplessly, “Just now it was ‘Wen Yang’ and now it’s ‘brother-in-law’ again.”
“This is called being two-faced, right?” Ning Chu couldn’t help but laugh, her eyes turning into crescent moons as she walked over to Wen Yang, teasing, “Black Bean didn’t sleep a wink last night, and I don’t know where she gets all this energy. Xinya is the same; all these Beast Ear Girls are bursting with vitality.”
Even succubi have decent energy when they’re well-fed.
Ning Chu hadn’t slept much last night either; the first half of the night was a blur, but today she didn’t seem tired at all.
Mother propped her legs up, gazing at her daughter’s tender smile, the sparkle in her eyes almost spilling over. Ning Chu’s steps were light yet somewhat urgent as she quickly huddled close to the poor guy and whispered sweet nothings.
The smell of young love was thick in the air.
Clearing her throat, Mother announced, “Am I invisible?”
Ning Chu jumped in surprise, her face turning beet red. Then, she ingratiatingly went to sit beside her mother on the sofa. “Mom~ I’d like some steamed red salmon with vermicelli and braised ribs tonight…”
“Oysters would be nice too! I saw a big box of them at the supermarket for less than twenty bucks.”
Mother saw right through Ning Chu’s plans, dropping her voice to a conspiratorial whisper, “You want to pamper your man, huh?”
“……”
Though the protagonist probably didn’t need any physical boosting, last night’s intensity wasn’t quite out of this world. The strongest feat of the characters in stories often involved multiple ladies in one night, leaving them all fainted away—like a human teddy bear.
In terms of personality and outlook, Wen Yang didn’t resemble the typical protagonist one bit, but physically, he might not be too different.
“And you’re spending my money.”
Mother rolled her eyes as Ning Chu bit back, “But didn’t Wen Yang give you five hundred earlier?”
“With how you’re planning to cook, five hundred won’t even cover three meals.”
That red salmon—essentially mud crab—would likely cost over a hundred and fifty bucks per pound for good quality.
“Mom~”
“Alright, I’ll go to the supermarket to buy groceries.” Mother stretched and rolled her shoulders, yawning. “Ning Xin stays home, so I won’t take her with me.”
“……”
Does your daughter really look like someone who’s hard to satisfy?
Ning Chu glared at her mother in frustration, but Mother didn’t bat an eyelash and playfully tapped her on the head before walking towards her bedroom to change.
“What was that about?”
Wen Yang, who had been lingering nearby, rushed over as soon as his future mother-in-law left, looking nervous. “Were they talking about me again?”
“Yup, seems like your gift today was a hit with my mom~” Ning Chu straightened up and reached out to ruffle Wen Yang’s hair. “Well done! Keep it up!”
“That’s good.”
Wen Yang didn’t mind Ning Chu ruffling his hair; after all, he was tall, and she rarely got the chance to do that.
He let out a breath of relief and felt somewhat more relaxed, “Is there anything Mom likes? We can’t just keep sending Black Bean homework, or she’s going to explode on me.”
“Um… I can’t afford jewelry or anything.” Ning Chu tapped her lip thoughtfully, “Other than jewelry, I’m not really sure what she likes.”
“I see…” Wen Yang sighed, shaking his head. “Guess we’ll just have to torment Black Bean a bit.”
“Yeah, let’s just torture Black Bean a little~ pfft!”
Ning Chu could already envision the dramatic fallout between Black Bean and Wen Yang.
Poor little cat.
“Hey! There’s still a child in the house!”
Mother walked back into the living room, dressed, and nearly fainted when she saw the girl on the sofa all but climbing onto the man’s lap. The robe was a little too loose, revealing her delicate collarbones and hinting at a few curves.
She was worried that if she didn’t intervene within half an hour, these two would be planning their baby-making!
“Oh!” Ning Chu quickly distanced herself from Wen Yang and straightened her robe, sitting up straight with wide eyes.
“Wen Yang, come help me with the grocery basket.”
Mother, fearing they wouldn’t separate at the worst moments, especially with Ning Chu, knew that once one got a taste of their first experience, they usually went a bit wild.
“Okay!”
“Ning Chu, you go help little sister with her homework.”
“Got it!”
After sending Mother and Wen Yang out, Ning Chu rubbed her nose in annoyance.
God knows how she ended up leaning on Wen Yang without even realizing it.
She’d have to rein it in a bit from now on~
Lost in her thoughts, she went to the next room, pushed the door open, and found Black Bean slumped over the desk, pen in hand, with her ears drooping on one side. She was drooling all over her workbook.
At least she had finished her tutoring class homework.
