Chapter 343: The Truth
Sitting at the edge of the bed, Wen Yang grabbed a quilt from the side and draped it over the bare Little Succubus.
Ning Chu was still a bit dazed, her brain malfunctioning, lips slightly parted, cheeks flushed like ripe cherries, and breathing heavily.
This time, she didn’t faint but she was definitely too weak to get up.
Fortunately, her tastes weren’t too extreme; there was nothing more outrageous in Little Emperor Wen, like unexpected escapes or anything.
Otherwise, let’s not even talk about her being weak; she might as well have been erased from existence!
As her slightly dazed eyes began to regain focus, she suddenly realized Wen Yang was staring at her, causing her to curl up in embarrassment, pulling the quilt over her fair skin.
“Why are you staring at me…”
Even though she had been quite bold just moments ago, now she was acting like a shy little girl.
Wen Yang found this shy and easily embarrassed side of her adorable and couldn’t resist teasing her. “How about we do it again?”
“NO!”
Recalling how Ning Chu had been trembling in fear but her face had shown pure joy, Wen Yang suddenly felt ready for a rematch; unfortunately, the Little Succubus was not having it.
He didn’t press her further, standing up to ask, “Do you want me to carry you to take a shower?”
“I can do it myself.”
“It’s not like I haven’t bathed you before.”
Last time, he had gone full throttle, and she had passed out, okay…
Ning Chu shook her head in refusal, cautiously rising to her feet, but her legs buckled, causing her to plop right back down on the floor.
Wen Yang walked over helplessly, hoisting her onto his shoulder without caring about her wildly kicking legs, and headed straight for the bathroom.
“No! I can wash myself!”
“Don’t touch anything!”
“Hey!”
Being thoroughly scrubbed down inside and out by Wen Yang while conscious had Ning Chu’s shame about to explode.
“All done.”
She dashed out of the bathroom, snatched a towel hanging on the wall, wrapped it around herself, and quickly dove under the covers.
Wen Yang emerged from the bathroom afterward, glancing at the blushing Ning Chu and suddenly realized this was a great opportunity to ask her something.
Sure, asking during a double-date interrogation might yield better results, but he hadn’t been in the mood back then. Looking back, he felt he missed out on some fun playtime.
Yet, that approach felt too targeted and a tad too despicable…
Wen Yang intentionally sat back down at the edge of the bed without his pants. When the Little Succubus glanced over, she quickly turned her head away, awkwardly creating some distance.
“Pervert.”
Even though she averted her eyes, Ning Chu’s gaze was sneakily darting, obviously still lingering on him.
“Ning Chu, I have something to ask you.”
“I don’t want to talk to a pervert… just so you know, I’m not coming over again; I’m dead tired.”
If it weren’t for the slight squirming under the covers, Wen Yang might’ve taken her words at face value.
He gathered his thoughts and finally asked, “I’ve noticed that whenever something happens, you often seem to know about it beforehand, right?”
“Uh?”
“It’s like what you wrote in that novel; I’m just the male lead… or rather the one in Little Emperor Wen.”
Ning Chu paused, a guilty expression creeping onto her face as she turned away.
She had already anticipated Wen Yang’s suspicion, but she hadn’t expected it to surface so quickly.
If only he hadn’t seen her autobiographical novel, he probably wouldn’t have gone there. I mean, it was all just too ridiculous!
“I saw you reading Little Emperor Wen back in the dorm; the protagonist has the same name as me.”
Mentioning Little Emperor Wen made Ning Chu’s heart race, as if someone had just yanked the cover off her black history… But having just had a delightful romp with this guy, feeling all exposed, getting a forced clean-up, it didn’t seem as hard to swallow anymore.
Wen Yang cautiously noticed that Ning Chu had only turned her head away, refusing to look, eyes flickering, not reacting too violently.
After a slight sigh of relief, he asked curiously yet anxiously, “I’m not really the character you wrote in Little Emperor Wen, am I?”
“Well…”
Ning Chu hesitated, unsure whether to spin a comforting lie to ease Wen Yang’s mind or be blunt about the situation.
She feared that Wen Yang would have a complete meltdown, falling into despair.
After a moment of silence, she chose to trust him, believing in his psychological resilience.
“You don’t need to think too much… you and that character are completely different,” Ning Chu said, turning slightly and mumbling softly, “kind of what you guessed.”
Wen Yang was momentarily stumped, not sure what expression to wear or what to say.
“Let me show you…” Ning Chu grabbed her phone from the pillow, unlocked the encrypted document, and handed it to Wen Yang, her face glowing crimson. “It’s something I wrote randomly before; don’t laugh at me…”
“…”
After a few hours, Wen Yang finished reading through the entire Little Emperor Wen. He put down the phone and looked at Ning Chu, who was absently playing Billion Zombies at her desk.
The writing was quite good, and there were plenty of twists that almost made him want to pull Ning Chu into an experience based on the plot…
Perhaps sensing his gaze, Ning Chu paused her game, anxiously glancing back, stammering, “So… what do you think?”
“What do you mean?”
“What are your thoughts now…” Ning Chu asked, guilt and insecurity making her lower her head. She hugged her knees, her voice barely above a whisper, “I didn’t really know when I was writing, or else I would have made you a rich second generation.”
“And then you’d be a wealthy young lady, huh?”
“?”
She looked up in bewilderment.
How could you still be joking at a time like this?
Realizing her life was merely a pre-planned “character design,” and her past struggles were just “settings” she had whimsically arranged— it wasn’t just shocking; it felt a bit too… optimistic, don’t you think?
“You, you…”
Wen Yang interrupted her a bit impatiently: “Didn’t you say it? I’m nothing like the protagonist in your book.”
“I’m not that kind of stud, you know, the type of royal male lead in the story who beds maidens left and right; it’s just a name coincidence.”
“Besides, you wouldn’t even know if I’m from which book or which game, right?”
Ning Chu paused, feeling a sudden panic. She looked up at the ceiling but quickly reacted, bursting into laughter, “True.”
She got up, moved next to Wen Yang, and sighed softly, “I thought you’d find it really hard to accept.”
Wen Yang took a deep breath, feeling the coolness of her skin like jade and the delicate yet tempting scent of her youthful charm…
Whether he was a character from a novel or someone in a story, he was undeniably alive; his past wasn’t a falsehood, and his feelings for Ning Chu weren’t fabricated. He had already broken free from the confines of the character’s role and even caught the author’s heart.
“Anyway, not bad, right? I went from being a pawn in the author’s hands to making the author roll her eyes…”
“Shut up! Are you a pervert or what?”
She blushed angrily and covered Wen Yang’s mouth.
It’s a wonder she was worried so much; it turned out this guy was just in the mood to tease her!
Wen Yang removed her hand, lowered his gaze to meet her shy eyes, and spoke softly, “But I’m your male lead now; you might not be able to escape me.”
“Pfft~” Ning Chu shyly turned her head away, her tone full of disdain, “Just because I didn’t say the protagonist has to be bound to the author… if you put it like that, I might have several boyfriends already!”
“By the way, I remember in the last chapter, Shao Qing said he would turn into a girl, right? When’s that happening?”
“……”
