Chapter 31: Terrorist Attack
The earth-shattering explosion echoed through the air.
Night Star and Kong Yu Bai stood in a deserted area, showing no intention of taking cover.
They didn’t have to worry about a life-threatening situation.
Even if a massive explosion went off right in front of them, they could easily handle it.
If an Extraordinary Star Holder could be taken out by an explosion, that would be such a shame.
“What’s happening?”
Night Star was still puzzled.
“Probably a terrorist attack or something. I heard that the security here in the Free Country is a bit chaotic. Attacks could happen at any moment, and it’s pretty normal for people to d*e every day,” Kong Yu Bai explained casually.
“Wow, that’s terrifying.”
Night Star and Kong Yu Bai decided to stick around and observe a bit longer instead of leaving right away.
After all, finding Qing Liao wasn’t urgent; they might as well see how the law enforcement handled this mess first.
Night Star had rarely faced such situations back home.
If she encountered something like this before, she would’ve bolted immediately. But now, she had a “Singer” by her side, and there was no way she was feeling scared!
Besides, she had the terrifying power of Little Lian hanging at her waist—there was no need to worry about any terrorist organization.

In terms of terror, no organization could possibly surpass the Rising Sun Theater Group.
Before too long, the sound of blaring sirens came from afar. The law enforcement of the Free Country was arriving, with numerous flying vehicles soaring through the sky, and even massive aircraft that looked like something out of a sci-fi movie.
But before the police could even exit their vehicles, a laser shot into the air and obliterated one police cruiser in an instant.

Sparks exploded into the sky, bright and flashy like fireworks.
The attackers didn’t seem interested in negotiating with the police; they jumped straight to using technological weapons.
Night Star spotted a suspicious man fully decked out in armor emerging from the building that just blew up. He looked like he had on exoskeletal mechanical armor, making him appear bulkier than the average Joe, and held a massive laser cannon that was taller than a grown man.
“d*e!!!”
The laser cannon charged up rapidly, a huge wave of energy converging at the barrel.
Just then, the massive aircraft the police brought to the scene activated, and a series of mechanical parts began shifting like some kind of transformation sequence. They quickly erected an energy barrier—blue and transparent.
At that moment, the laser cannon had finished charging.
Boom!
A terrifying beam of energy erupted from the ground, exuding a force that seemed to spell doom for anything in its path.
The energy beam collided with the energy barrier, creating massive waves that shattered the tempered glass of nearby buildings for dozens of meters. It looked utterly horrifying.
Watching this scene unfold, Night Star was left speechless.
“How freaking cool!”
Of course, Night Star was talking about the laser cannon in the attacker’s hands—so big and thick, it looked incredibly powerful.
Right now, she just wanted to snatch that laser cannon and use it as a decoration at the theater—it would look awesome.
Okay, maybe now wasn’t the time to think like that.
Night Star was a bit confused as to why the terrorists had access to such terrifying weaponry.
Kong Yu Bai answered her question.
“The arms trade in this country is pretty common. The weapon regulations here aren’t as strict as ours, so high-tech weapons like that can be obtained through special means. They probably stole them from some tech development company. That building was probably one of them.”
Having visited this country before, Kong Yu Bai had done her homework on the situation in the Free Country and was quite knowledgeable about it.
“Wait… If that’s a weapons development company, why are their security forces so weak? It’s like they just let themselves get robbed!”
“I have no idea. Maybe the attackers have even more powerful weapons, or they just found special ways to break through the security of the armed company.”
The two of them were still safely observing from a distance, not planning to jump into the fray.

The man in exoskeletal armor was quickly reaching the limit of his laser cannon.
The thick beam of light rapidly shrank until it vanished entirely.
The energy barrier didn’t show any signs of being broken; if anything, it was holding up perfectly fine.
It looked like the law enforcement had even more advanced weaponry on their side, enough to withstand the attackers’ armed assaults.
Time for the law enforcement to counterattack!
“No need for capture, eliminate on site!”
As the order was given, the armed police unleashed a devastating counterattack that rained down from the sky like a torrential storm.
Facing this level of firepower, if there were no protective measures, the only outcome would be utter annihilation.
But the attacker down on the ground didn’t seem the slightest bit fazed; instead, he looked incredibly confident.
Meanwhile.
Night Star and Kong Yu Bai, watching the show from a distance, suddenly sensed the presence of Star Holders.
There were Star Holders involved in this mess!
They saw the armed law enforcers’ attacks bizarrely freeze in the air as if time had stopped.
Then, the energy projectiles were disintegrated into smaller molecular particles, diffusing into the air like dust.
Moments later, the attacker with the laser cannon fired it up again, initiating its charging mode, pulling all the tiny energy molecules into the cannon’s barrel.
The police’s attacks had instantly become the enemy’s fuel.
This time, the charging speed was even more absurd, and the energy fluctuations were greater than before!
“Hahaha!!”
Boom!
At the instant the violent beam of light erupted, a sonic boom followed, creating an even more powerful clash against the protective barrier, which shattered in mere seconds.
Police vehicles and equipment suspended in the air were instantly pierced by the laser cannon, followed by a series of explosive sounds.
The cannon holder shifted his aim, and the terrifying beam swept across other vehicles; even a nearby building was “cut” down a portion, becoming collateral damage in this battle.
Witnessing this scene, Night Star felt it was utterly ridiculous.
The seemingly invincible police had actually lost!
Ah, wait! That’s the law enforcement of the Free Country—totally different from the ones back home.
She was shocked to realize there were Star Holders in this criminal gang, and coupled with that terrifying technological weapon, it made sense they could counterattack.
Since Star Holders were mixed up in the crime, this was no longer something ordinary law enforcement could handle.
At home, this would’ve been referred to the Night Watchers.
Was there a similar protocol in the Free Country?
Night Star felt a surge of excitement at what was to come, still refusing to play the hero for the time being.
She was just a little unarmed Loli after all.
Night Star kept observing.
A few men rushed out of the building to meet up with the exoskeletal armored man—it seemed like a gang. Night Star noticed two Star Holders among them, likely part of the reason the previous law enforcers had been entirely defeated.
She watched as these men celebrated by high-fiving and began moving suspicious equipment out of the company—it was so brazen!
Just then, while Night Star pondered whether to intervene a little, she sensed a rapidly approaching, unique aura.
There were multiple Star Holders!
