439. My Sister is a Cat!
“It’s Wen Yang’s birthday~”
Ning Chu rested her chin on the table, murmuring softly.
Even though Wen Yang didn’t mind, as the “mastermind” and the author who casually decided on “orphaned parents” in her story, she always felt a twinge of guilt about Wen Yang’s family situation.
But, hey, at least she wouldn’t have to worry about the future mother-in-law dynamic!
If she had known that the male protagonist she wrote would end up being her boyfriend, she definitely would’ve given Wen Yang a character who was rich and dashing!
Ning Chu squished her plush toy in her hands, pondering how to make this birthday a joyous and memorable occasion for Wen Yang.
She planned to celebrate the official birthday just between the two of them, but for the lunar birthday, she could invite her roommates and friends to chip in a little.
Footsteps echoed down the hallway, and Ning Chu’s sharp ears quickly identified the owner: Wen Yang.
Her straight posture softened, and she slumped over the table.
The door swung open, revealing Wen Yang carrying takeout from the cafeteria: “How’s the cold?”
“My nose is stuffy,” Ning Chu replied in a stuffy voice, laced with nasal congestion.
Seeing the little succubus looking all out of sorts, Wen Yang set down the dinner and came over, touching her forehead with the back of his hand.
“Seems like you’re not feverish anymore; the medicine worked pretty well.”
“Wen Yang~ did you buy cola?”
“Still thinking about cola while you’re sick?” Wen Yang, as if by magic, pulled a small can of cola from his coat pocket and placed it on the table. “Just drink a bit to quench that craving.”
“Thank you, my husband!”
Ning Chu instantly perked up and stopped pretending to be all weak and pitiful, quickly grabbing the cola.
She chugged half the can, letting out a burp and leaning back with a satisfied sigh, feeling her nose clear up.
“Buying a can of cola and now I’m your husband?” Wen Yang ruffled her hair, skillfully avoiding the edges of the table. “Let’s eat.”
Normally, Ning Chu would only call him “husband” or even “dad” when she was in a delirious state in bed, but one can of cola had bought her off!
A blush crept onto Ning Chu’s cheeks as she hugged the cola and followed Wen Yang to the sofa.
Wen Yang unboxed the takeout, laying out the dishes in front of her, breaking apart disposable chopsticks, and handing them over. “You eat first.”
“I feel like I’m just going to be spoiled by you.”
“Well, that sounds pretty good.”
Having grown up without a father and with a busy mother, Ning Chu had lived alone for nearly ten years after her last life, when her mother passed away and her brother went off the rails. But after crossing into this world, she found herself being spoiled by her own male protagonist, almost feeling like a daughter being doted on!
Sometimes, she wondered if Wen Yang was just too good to her, compensating for all her losses, which was why she started to like boys shortly after becoming a girl.
“Try the ribs; it’s a new dish. If it’s good, we can order it next time.”
“Eat some vegetables too; I thought you loved bean sprouts?”
“Oh, and I also got sauced ribs.”
Wen Yang donned disposable gloves and grabbed a piece of sauced rib, grimacing as it was hot, but he still tore off some of the tough meat and placed it in Ning Chu’s bowl.
Ning Chu stuffed her cheeks so full she looked like a little hamster, mumbling, “You eat too.”
“Your appetite is small; I’ll wait until you’re finished.”
Wen Yang looked down at her enjoying her food, his eyes filled with warmth.
When Ning Chu caught a glimpse of his intense gaze, her cheeks turned a deep crimson as she flusteredly looked away.
Having finished only half a bowl, Ning Chu set down her chopsticks, pouting, “I’m full.”
“Not going to eat a bit more?”
“I’m on a diet.”
She thought she should probably control her weight a bit…
“I want milk tea.”
“……”
Ning Chu’s thoughts always jumped around; before Wen Yang could refuse, she switched topics, “Did you see that black cat when you went to class this afternoon?”
Although she had whined for Wen Yang to stay home with her and take care of her, in the end, she opted to nap alone.
Wen Yang shook his head. “Nope, didn’t see a single cat all afternoon.”
“Who knows which girl it contracted to be a magical girl… Qian Qian would probably be happy to help.”
Ning Chu leaned back on the sofa, covering her slightly bloated belly with her hands, and stared at the ceiling, venting, “That black cat is really something~ It contracts a new magical girl, but doesn’t bring her back to introduce to Qian Qian.”
“That cat seems like it’s just there for the fun of it.”
“Right? I think it’s just enjoying the chaos.”
She lifted the hem of her shirt, scratching her slightly itchy belly, then peeked down.
Her low-waisted skirt revealed a patch of silver lines, the suggestive curves trailing down to where her belly softly rounded, making it all feel a bit… inappropriate.
She sneaked a glance at Wen Yang, boldly exposing her silver-lined little belly.
“Aren’t you still sick? Aren’t you afraid of catching another chill?”
“Totally! You wouldn’t really be so heartless as to give me a cold again, would you?”
“……”
After a brief silence, Wen Yang pulled out a soft-package delivery from his coat, which seemed like one of those magical pockets from a cartoon—full of surprises. “Oh, your package arrived.”
“Package……”
Noting that it looked like it might contain clothes, Ning Chu quickly recalled what she had ordered.
She grabbed the package and hurried to the bathroom. “I’m going to the bathroom.”
“Sure.”
Wen Yang didn’t think much of it, diving back into the food on the coffee table.
Usually, they would order enough for three, with Ning Chu eating half and whatever was left over would be devoured by him.
Her mobile phone buzzed on the side. He reached over to pick it up, glancing at the caller ID, and immediately wiped his mouth and sat up straight to answer the video call.
“Hello, Auntie.” Wen Yang spoke softly, careful not to startle his future mother-in-law with his volume.
“Have you eaten yet?”
“Yeah, still eating.”
“Ning Xin says she misses you.”
At this, a cat’s head barged into the phone screen, Black Bean perked up its ears, filling most of the display.
Before Black Bean could say anything, an excited voice rang out from inside the house, and Wen Yang jumped, glancing towards the bathroom.
“Wen Yang! Look! Doesn’t it look amazing~”
Ning Chu burst through the door, wearing a revealing, cute maid outfit, deep cleavage on display and a heart-shaped tail high in the air, complete with a pair of cat ears on her head.
The skirt was so short it barely covered her behind, her slender waist exposed to the chilly air, with delicate silver lines clearly in view.
Wen Yang was left wide-eyed and speechless.
“What do you think! Isn’t it great? I plan to wear this for your birthday…”
“Sister is also a cat cat!”
An all-too-familiar voice interrupted Ning Chu, and she froze in shock as she realized her mobile phone was propped up on the coffee table.
From afar, it seemed the screen not only showed Black Bean’s face but also her mother’s!
“Wearing so little, don’t catch a cold~” her mother giggled behind her hand.
“……”
A dazzling blush surged to Ning Chu’s cheeks at lightning speed, and she let out a pitiful wail, spinning around and dashing back into the bathroom!
