476. Lily’s House
Two ride-hailing cars parked in front of the massive entrance of the residential community. A succubus in a long dress couldn’t wait to get out, her expression cool, but her steps hurried as she rushed inside.
“Why the rush?”
Ning Chu noticed only Lily’s slender back as she got out of another car.
She didn’t even need to guess; it was obvious Lily was worried about some toy being left in plain sight and was rushing to tidy up before Qian Qian could see it.
In Qian Qian’s eyes, Lily was the epitome of a sophisticated, aloof senior—always looking at her with a sort of inexplicable admiration. If Qian Qian ever found out the truth, the shock would be like her idol crashing down; Ning Chu couldn’t wait to see that expression.
“What’s Lily in such a hurry for?” Qian Qian approached curiously. “Aren’t you joining us?”
“Maybe her place is too messy, and she wants to clean up?” Yan Xinya attempted a rescue for Lily. “No problem, I know where she lives… need to grab some drinks on the way up?”
“I want cola!”
Ning Chu wasn’t going to stir the pot just yet; after all, given enough time, Lily would eventually slip up.
But by then, Qian Qian would probably be led astray…
She glanced at Qian Qian’s innocent face and stature; it was hard to imagine this seemingly pure magical girl would eavesdrop so enthusiastically.
This girl didn’t even recognize basic little toys, so she probably hadn’t encountered anything too risqué, but at sixteen or seventeen, having never been in a relationship, she surely was at the peak of curiosity about such matters.
Definitely had potential to be led astray…
“Wen Yang! Come help carry the drinks!”
“Coming.”
Wen Yang answered Wolf Girl’s call, but strolled leisurely beside Ning Chu. “Should we grab a case of bottled water too? Too many people means boiling water is a hassle.”
“Sure, why not?”
In high heels, Ning Chu’s steps were a rare picture of grace. She hooked her arm around Wen Yang’s as they followed Yan Xinya and Lily, taking small steps.
Her weight shifted to her toes, which were painfully crammed into the shoes, and she furrowed her brows in complaint: “These high heels are so uncomfortable; my feet hurt a bit…”
“I heard wearing them too much can change the shape of your toes.”
“Seriously?! I’m doomed!”
Wen Yang wasn’t sure where he picked this knowledge up, but after a quick online search, he confirmed, “Yeah, really. That’s what they say online.”
“Good thing I brought another pair.”
Right by the entrance of the community, there was a small supermarket. By the time Ning Chu and Wen Yang strolled up to the entrance, Yan Xinya was already coming out, shouldering a box of drinks.
“Here! You’re the only guy here!” Wolf Girl grinned mischievously. “We can’t let a bunch of fragile ladies haul drinks upstairs, can we?”
“Can’t say you ladies look that fragile…” Ning Chu mumbled in defense of her boyfriend.
Wen Yang didn’t mind, though; he reached out to take the drinks: “Alright, buy another case of bottled water, and I’ll carry it.”
He had a massive backpack on, with drinks and water in his hands, yet he moved as swiftly as ever, unfazed by the load.
Qian Qian and Ning Chu picked up two bags of snacks at the supermarket. Only then did the group, led by Yan Xinya, head to Lily’s house.
Once they stepped out of the elevator, they were met with a shoe rack and hallway.
Wen Yang had heard of Lily’s house from Ning Chu before, but still looked surprised. After dropping off the stuff, he curiously looked around.
“Lily really is a rich beauty! Such a big house!”
Qian Qian wasn’t as reserved as Wen Yang; she burst into the hallway and quickly changed into slippers. As she entered the living room, another shout echoed: “Wow! Such a huge glass window! You can really see the beach!”
She stepped closer to the floor-to-ceiling window, nervously peeking down: “Is this glass sturdy? What if it falls?”
“It’s fine, very safe.”
Lily said, handing Qian Qian a broom.
“Huh?”
“Time to clean up.” She turned to the others and gestured at the tools sitting in the corner. “Big cleanup.”
If it were just a couple of girlfriends, they’d just need to tidy the living room and one bedroom, and Lily wouldn’t mind sharing a bed with them. But with this many visitors, every room except the master bedroom occupied by her parents had to be cleaned.
Ning Chu had just kicked off her high heels and was already limping a bit. Hearing they needed to clean, her face turned into a bitter melon: “Do we have to? My feet hurt; can I rest for a bit?”
“We just sat in a car for hours! Aren’t you tired?”
Lily shot her a glance and noticed her sitting on the sofa rubbing her feet, a slight smirk appearing at the corner of her mouth.
Serves you right for showing off your height in those heels!
“Not tired.” Lily threw a cloth at Ning Chu without hesitation. “You wipe the tables.”
Ning Chu sighed dramatically, raising her eyes to the others.
Qian Qian had already started sweeping, and Yan Xinya, overflowing with energy, dashed to fetch a bucket of water without needing prompting, while Wen Yang, in his first visit to Lily’s place, felt awkward but took the initiative in cleaning.
Seeing herself slacking off like a lazy fish while everyone else was working hard made her feel guilty. She suppressed her complaints and picked up a cloth to wipe the coffee table.
Just as she started, Lily leaned in closer and quietly asked, “What’s the height of your heels?”
“Hmm? About five centimeters, I think.” Ning Chu muttered. “I thought they looked nice when I bought them, but they ended up being a bit high.”
Mainly, she wore them so rarely, she was still getting used to them.
As a kid, she had snuck into her mother’s high heels once and remembered it ended badly.
“Oh~”
Lily nodded and headed to the entryway, opening the shoe cabinet to pull out a pair of heels with a six-centimeter height.
Ning Chu watched that unfold and couldn’t help but roll her eyes.
It wasn’t that she wanted to compete with Lily; it was just that Lily always kept raising the stakes!
This succubus seemed to have declared war on her, but Ning Chu understood—why shouldn’t Lily, being a succubus for twenty years, feel a bit off that she, who had been a man for the same amount of time, was now speeding ahead? Anyone would feel unbalanced.
Though Lily didn’t know Ning Chu used to be a man, she did know she’d only been developing for half a year.
“Hey! Ning Chu, what’s this?”
When she heard Qian Qian’s inquiry, her eyelids jumped, and she happily turned around, ready to throw in another jab.
But when she focused, she disappointingly replied, “A robot vacuum cleaner. Haven’t you seen one?”
She thought Lily had revealed something! But it turned out to be this?
“What I mean is, if there’s a robot vacuum, why do I still have to sweep?”
Lily’s hurried steps turned sluggish again, her tone softening as she explained, “The battery is dead.”
“Oh, I see~” Qian Qian sighed, genuinely saddened, and obediently picked up the broom to continue sweeping. “I’m hungry…”
“I’m hungry too!”
Yan Xinya immediately chimed in, and Wen Yang eagerly turned his head to look.
“Everyone’s such a foodie…” Lily muttered, pulling out her mobile phone. “Let me order takeout for you.”
