478. Lily’s Wallpaper
Lily has figured out a rule since she was little.
The more you worry about something happening, the less likely it is to occur.
Like signing her parents’ names on a bad exam paper or leaving her little toys lying around her bedroom… She was always anxious about being found out, yet throughout her childhood, despite various slip-ups, her mother never once entered her room without permission.
This had lowered her guard, and during the winter break, she ended up revealing her true form as a Succubus in front of her parents.
Fortunately, her parents weren’t completely clueless about Succubi. They gave her the usual stern lecture, but they didn’t throw out all her toys like most parents would.
After all, compared to other Succubi throwing wild parties, she was pretty pure.
So even though she felt a bit jittery, there was a high chance that she wouldn’t find any forgotten toys lurking in the corner of her room—especially since Qian Qian just happened to see one.
This allowed Lily to take her time tidying up the takeout boxes, dumping the trash by the elevator door before leisurely walking into her room.
Inside, Ning Chu and Wen Yang were sitting cross-legged on the floor, excitedly playing a co-op game, while Qian Qian peeked over from the computer desk, watching them play.
“Left, left! Quick, dodge!”
“Ugh! So close! If it were me, I would’ve dodged it…”
“Hit it! Unleash the ultimate move!”
Even though Qian Qian wasn’t playing, just watching the game and pointing out tips made her just as excited; she was so tense that her hands were balled into fists, looking even more anxious than Ning Chu, who was actually playing.
“Stop talking! The more you say, the worse I play!”
Ning Chu finally couldn’t take it anymore. She shot a glare at Qian Qian and said, “If you think you can do better, why don’t you give it a try?”
Seeing Ning Chu getting a bit annoyed, Qian Qian shrank back, turning to Lily, who had just entered the room: “Lily, can I play on your computer?”
“Sure.” Lily replied casually as she sat at the foot of her bed, watching the game on the TV screen.
Whenever Ning Chu came over, she always seemed fixated on the game console, but Lily could never understand what was so entertaining about these sh**t-’em-up games. After half an hour, she was usually too exhausted to continue playing.
Butter is more her style.
“Hey, Lily.” Ning Chu suddenly paused the game and turned to her. “Did you forget to bring back your octopus?”
“Nope.”
“What if it escaped?”
“It’s locked in the cupboard.”
“Oh~”
Ever since witnessing Qian Qian use magic to turn a suitcase into a little dog that followed her around, she understood even more why Lily kept that Tentacle Monster.
It really was convenient…
When a Magical Girl could become prettier, use handy magic, and have self-defense against bad guys, the only threat was contained in a cup, barely half-alive, just sitting there as a decorative piece. If it were her, she wouldn’t want to get rid of the Tentacle Monster either.
Although Ning Chu still had her doubts about whether Lily had other motives.
“Shao Qing and Teacher Qian Qian have arrived.” Wen Yang’s phone vibrated, and he glanced at the message from Zhang Shaoqing. “I’m going downstairs to get them, you in?”
“Sure.”
Lily took the controller Wen Yang handed her and sat in his previous spot.
“The place is all cleaned up; Shao Qing’s lucky…” Ning Chu grumbled. “I put up with my foot pain to clean, and he just shows up now.”
“Even if he had come with us, he would just sit there watching us clean.” Wen Yang disagreed with Ning Chu. “He’s never done any cleaning in the dorm.”
“After all, he’s a rich kid. Too pampered for his own good~ so thick-skinned!”
Ning Chu couldn’t help but poke fun at Zhang Shaoqing, even though he couldn’t hear her at the moment.
“I’ll go get them.”
As Wen Yang turned to leave, he glanced back at Lily: “Lily, are you sure you don’t want to practice the controls?”
She noticed Lily’s expression suddenly darkened, her gaze fixed intently on Qian Qian at the computer desk.
Following Lily’s line of sight, she saw Qian Qian’s cheeks flushed, radiating shyness.
Surely, there isn’t anything embarrassing on that computer screen, right?
Qian Qian’s gaze was darting around the screen with a mix of avoidance and curiosity, clearly wanting to look but too shy to do so.
She didn’t even notice the looks from Ning Chu and Lily; her attention was fully captured by the screen.
Ning Chu thought that Qian Qian didn’t seem like someone who would go rummaging through files for private stuff, so there must be something on Lily’s desktop that could make a girl blush like that.
She winked teasingly at Lily, who hardly ever blushed, but now had a faint tinge of red on her cheeks and avoidantly turned her gaze away.
“I’ll start the game?”
Lily feigned calmness and nodded.
She had already realized what Qian Qian had seen…
Because her parents never touched her computer, her desktop wallpaper was an outrageous, risqué image of an anime girl with her legs spread open in front of an ajar door.
But there was no going back now; she definitely couldn’t use magic to erase Qian Qian’s memory of this moment!
“Lily! I’ve wiped off the table!”
Yan Xinya burst into the room, startling Qian Qian to the point she jumped, quickly switching the computer to a browser.
As the Wolf Girl entered the room, she noticed the somewhat odd atmosphere.
Qian Qian couldn’t lift her head in embarrassment, the usually stoic Lily now visibly flustered, and Ning Chu wore a sweetly teasing smile, looking like a little devil.
“What’s going on here?”
“Nothing.” Lily’s ears turned red as she flustered got up, shoving the game controller into Yan Xinya’s arms. “I need to use the bathroom.”
She basically fled the room, while Qian Qian anxiously shut down the computer, curling up barefoot on the chair, hugging her knees.
“How strange~” Yan Xinya’s wolf ears tilted in confusion. “Did you do something bad to her?”
Ning Chu, busy playing the game, shook her head in denial. “What could I do to her?”
“And what about Qian Qian?”
Qian Qian’s face was so red she hid half of it in the crook of her arm, revealing just her big eyes: “…”
“Did you discover something?!” The Wolf Girl suddenly perked up with excitement.
“Well…” Qian Qian was quite determined to keep Lily’s secret and shook her head like a rattle, even creating a blur of motion, “No!”
God knows the Ice Mountain Goddess she admired used such a wallpaper!
It fits the identity of a Succubus quite well, actually…
An outward cold, inwardly lewd Ice Mountain Succubus, huh?
“Oh wow! Your place is pretty fancy! Way better than mine!”
Ning Chu’s sharp ears perked up as she heard some commotion from the living room.
She put down the controller and got up to peek outside.
Sure enough, it was Zhang Shaoqing…
“Yo!”
The moment her gaze landed on Zhang Shaoqing, he also noticed her peeking head: “I heard there’s a game console here! I—”
“Weren’t you supposed to go shopping?” Qian Qian suddenly interrupted.
Zhang Shaoqing let out a resigned and pitiful sigh: “I’m tired; let me rest a bit, okay?”
Although he still appeared as spirited and unabashed as ever, Ning Chu could keenly sense that his steps were a bit more unsteady today, and his face didn’t look so great.
What a pity for the male-second lead villain! Pathetic! Even a catgirl on her heat couldn’t handle him!
