506. A Few Years Later
As summer approached, the heat intensified, and the air twisted and rose in the high temperatures, making every breath feel like inhaling a puff of hot steam.
During the afternoon PE class, students flocked to the playground early, gathering under the shade of a tree in pairs.
Wen Yang and Zhang Shaoqing casually plopped down on the concrete ground, eyes wandering as they marveled at the passing pairs of long legs.
“Dude, what’s with this? Just because she’s a few years older than me? Isn’t it ‘older women are like fine gold ?’”
“Back then, you were desperate for me to go on blind dates, and now that I want to date freely, you’re against it?”

In his ear, Zhang Shaoqing continued his relentless complaints, his mother causing him grief ever since college began.
“Hey, have you found an internship yet?”

Wen Yang snapped out of his daze just then and playfully slapped Zhang Shaoqing, who dodged with a smirk: “Stop talking nonsense.”
“Then what are you daydreaming about?”
“I’ve received offers from several companies, just thinking about which one to choose.”
He sighed dramatically.
“Is this your version of humble bragging?”
Just like that, two years flashed by, and as Wen Yang was nearing the end of his junior year, he had already started searching for summer internships. Luck was on his side; he actually secured a few offers.
“There’s this internet company with great pay and good prospects, but it’s super far away.”
Zhang Shaoqing didn’t hesitate to decide for him: “That’s the one! So what if it’s far? Time to spread your wings!”
“But Ning Chu wants to stay home, doesn’t want to go out and mess around.”
“Isn’t that typical for women? Where is she now, anyway?”
“She went to buy milk tea; she should be back soon.”
Just as he spoke, Wen Yang’s gaze was drawn to a girl who had just entered the playground.
The girl had a slightly childish face, but her eyebrows carried a sultry charm. Two curved sheep horns adorned her head, and her long, glossy black hair cascaded down her back like a waterfall, reaching her waist.
She wore a black short dress with a semi-transparent sun-protective coat; her smooth, fair legs peeked out, straight and slender yet delightfully curvy.
The dress hugged her waist perfectly, accentuating her ample bust, and she wore low-heeled crystal sandals that just about made up for her height, showing off her pristine feet.
As soon as she appeared on the playground, many male gazes uncontrollably gravitated towards her.
“She looks just like Lily, practically sisters,” Zhang Shaoqing muttered, turning to look at Lily not far away.
That succubus had long black hair that reached her waist, wearing a white long dress. Years later, her face still looked cold as an iceberg.
One was lively, the other was aloof—definitely had a sisterly vibe.
“Wen Yang!”
Ning Chu jogged over, handing a cup of milk tea to Wen Yang: “Tada~ Lemon tea.”
“Thanks!”
“What about mine?”
“You?” She glanced at the lecherous dude next to Wen Yang, rolled her eyes, and said, “Do you have no hands or feet or something?”
Ning Chu plopped down on the ground too, but she was more mindful, pulling her skirt closer to her legs, worried about a wardrobe malfunction. “It’s so hot~ this stupid weather~ Just a short walk and I’m drenched in sweat.”
At times like this, she envied the men who could strip off their shirts and flaunt their muscles without anyone batting an eye.
Her thick long hair was far more unbearable compared to when she was a guy; by the time she bought a cup of milk tea, her forehead was already dotted with sweat.
Even after a few years, she still occasionally missed the conveniences of being a man.
At least, she didn’t have to dread the monthly visits from Aunt Flo.
“Hey, have you found an internship yet?” Zhang Shaoqing asked from the side.
Her pretty face immediately fell; Ning Chu pursed her lips, looking down at her milk tea, before mumbled, “I’m waiting for the fall recruitment next semester. What’s the rush…”
Before she crossed over, she had been worrying about internship issues, and now, a few years later, here she was, stressing over the same problem again.

“Of course not!” Zhang Shaoqing laughed smugly, “I really don’t care! If I’m unemployed, my mom will still take care of me, right?”
“I’m just a useless rich second generation; as long as I don’t touch gambling or drugs, my mom’s fortune can spoil me for a while longer.”
“Not mentioning the important stuff, huh?” Wen Yang teased. “What would Qian Qian think?”
“Please, my mom wouldn’t allow it.” Mentioning Qian Qian, Zhang Shaoqing went limp, cursing gloomily, “I wanted to talk to Ning Chu about that…”
“Then why’d you provoke her?”
As Ning Chu approached her group of friends, Yan Xinya noticed her immediately.
Wolf Girl dashed over, wrapped her arms around Ning Chu, beaming with glee in a playful manner: “Come on! We’re planning to open an online store together after graduation!”
“Ah?”
“We four put our heads together; opening an online store doesn’t cost that much.”
Jumping into e-commerce now? Talk about burning cash!
Ning Chu blinked, “What do you plan to sell?”
“How about clothes?!”
“I think selling two-dimensional stuff is easier.”
Xixi and Yan Xinya gave totally different answers, which just made her head hurt.
Open a store? More like a spontaneous idea that would have her dump all her savings into a pit!

“……”
The three of them simultaneously turned to look at Lily.
“For adults, or for kids?” Xixi asked hesitantly, even though she probably already had her answer.
Lily fell silent, aloofly turning her face away.
To be honest, Ning Chu felt that while Lily’s idea sounded outrageous, it had a bit more feasibility than Xixi and Yan Xinya’s ideas.
At least Lily had experience in that line of work.
She seated herself next to Lily and asked, “Have you guys found internships?”
“I don’t want to work…” Yan Xinya said, drooping her wolf ears, her tail hanging sadly down to the ground. “Are there any rich guys willing to support me~”
Ning Chu tapped Wolf Girl on the head: “Your thoughts just took a nosedive!”
“I’m just joking!”
Xixi had a face full of gloom: “I’m barely twenty! Why do I have to become a corporate slave? I don’t know anything…”
Looks like everyone was pretty lost!
Unlike her past life’s internships, where she watched classmates start working and getting into the groove, now she had a bunch of friends in the same boat as her.
