509. Qian Qian’s Dilemma
“I’ve already marked you present.”
After having afternoon tea, the Little Succubus lazily rested her head on Wen Yang’s chest, curled up like a little shrimp in his embrace, gasping for breath.
Once she received a message from Qian Qian, she finally relaxed; skipping a class or two was fine, but having someone mark her as present meant she could completely let her worries go.
Wen Yang, with his sturdy arms wrapped around the bone-less Ning Chu, curiously asked, “When did your parents get divorced? And now they’re getting married again?”
“I didn’t tell you? They divorced around last October; I only found out later.”
A hint of charm still lingered on Ning Chu’s face, her skin glowing with an ambiguous blush, though her eyes betrayed some concern, “My mom isn’t going to have another little brother or sister, is she…?”
“No way!”
“Can’t say for sure~ If it’s late enough, who knows, our kid might end up calling a baby a few years younger than him ‘uncle’!”
Wen Yang’s eyes lit up, “Our kid? Didn’t you say you didn’t want to have kids?”
Ning Chu was momentarily stunned, her little head nodding vigorously, “Right! I don’t want to have kids! I can’t stand little brats!”
“And it hurts like hell! I even looked it up; it’s said to cause serious harm to your body! They say you might even have trouble holding your pee—scary!”
“Why’d you look that up if you don’t want to have kids?”
Caught off guard by the question, she didn’t know how to explain and angrily pinched Wen Yang’s side, “I can look up whatever I want! What’s it to you!”
Wen Yang quickly raised his hands in surrender, “Got it, no more questions.”
“Cheh~”
But honestly, as she spent more time as a girl, it seemed Ning Chu’s aversion to childbirth was gradually fading.
She was starting to feel overly maternal, instinctively glancing at kids she saw; even cute little cats and dogs attracted her attention more than before.
Definitely a hormonal thing! Definitely not due to her own feelings.
After a bit of fussing around, Ning Chu leaned back into Wen Yang’s embrace and murmured with worry, “Wen Yang, what if I can’t find a job after I go to Shanghai with you?”
“How could that happen?”
“I heard that now big companies only want graduates from 985 and 211 schools.”
“Don’t set your expectations too high; it’ll definitely be easy to find! How about a copywriting job? You’ve written novels for years, right? You could write plot backgrounds for game companies or something!”
Mentioning this made Ning Chu feel uneasy. Her limited achievements in writing novels were nothing to show off, and she felt too shy to even mention the titles during interviews.
She shook her head, “Forget it… let’s see how it goes.”
Ning Chu was already looking for jobs in Shanghai on her phone while mumbling, “You rent a place first; once my mom gets married, I can just move in with my bags.”
“Sure.”
“Then we probably won’t see each other for over ten days~” she fretted even more.
Not having a man around for ten long days, lacking that vital energy, would leave her feeling dull and might even trigger more of those random emotional outbursts.
She had no idea if she could handle it.
“Maybe I should go a bit later? Discuss it with the company first,” Wen Yang shared the concern.
“Yeah, you try it… I’m kind of hungry~”
Without hesitation, he shoved the Little Succubus onto the bed.
Ning Chu, startled, shoved her feet against Wen Yang’s chest and quickly clarified, “I mean, I’m hungry for food!”
It wasn’t even five o’clock yet! She didn’t want to fry her CPU and fall asleep straight through the night! Would she even be able to sleep afterward?!
If she had to sleep beforehand, it wouldn’t matter—it would actually help her sleep well.
Wen Yang nodded regretfully, “I’ll go downstairs and get you something.”
“And get me a cup of milk tea, less ice, three sugars.”
“You just had some this afternoon!” He got up, getting dressed while reminding her, “Drink less milk tea; it’s easy to get fat.”
“I had three sugars! And I’m not getting fat, okay?!”
Although she always worried about her little tummy and the soft flesh on her thighs, over the years Ning Chu hadn’t noticed any significant increase in the fluffiness; in fact, thanks to her long-term yoga elective, she looked a bit more toned.
At the same time, her flexibility had greatly improved as well; she no longer suffered all day from strained ligaments after getting too ambitious during class.
Snug under the blanket, watching Wen Yang dress and head out, Ning Chu stretched lazily, deciding to take a shower in the bathroom.
“Ning Chu Jie~ You two actually skipped class and sneaked back! It was me who helped mark you present!”
Qian Qian’s voice floated down the hallway.
“Just had something to take care of and came back.”
“Hmm~ what kind of ‘something’ could it be~?”
After knowing them for so long, Qian Qian was no longer that naïve girl; her tone dripped with teasing and mockery aimed at Wen Yang.
“Not saying. I’m going downstairs to buy food.”
“Can Ning Chu Jie hang out now? I want to play with her~”
“Can you wait a bit?”
Hearing the commotion in the hallway, Ning Chu, who had one foot in the bathroom, quickly pulled back her foot, dashing to tidy up the messy bedding, covering up any suspicious stains on the bedsheets and flipping through the trash can to hide Wen Yang’s… well, you know.
Even though Qian Qian likely guessed what she’d been up to, she still had to put on a show to save face.
Once the remnants of her previous activities were hidden away, Ning Chu returned to the bathroom to rinse off the stickiness.
Just after showering and wrapping herself in a towel, Qian Qian knocked on the door.
“Ning Chu Jie~”
“Coming, coming.”
Ning Chu rushed barefoot to the door. As soon as she opened it, Qian Qian peeked inside with an excited expression, her nose sniffing around like a little detective.
“Smells funny~”
“Are you asking for a smack?” Ning Chu playfully swatted Qian Qian on the back of her head and turned to sit at her desk, “What do you want?”
“I need your advice on something~”
Qian Qian, unfazed by the playful hit, skipped into the room and stood behind Ning Chu, adorably massaging her shoulders, “Do you think I should start dating?”
“Well, that’s up to you?” Ning Chu was momentarily taken aback, then quickly realized and teased, “Oh? Do you have someone you like? I haven’t heard about this!”
Qian Qian’s cheeks flushed with a hint of bashfulness as she lowered her head, “There’s this sophomore… I met him while playing ball with Xinya Jie.”
“Is he handsome?”
“He’s okay~”
Ning Chu’s smile broadened, “How old?”
Qian Qian had been thoroughly corrupted by the older crowd; even without any practical experience, her theoretical knowledge was top-notch.
She immediately understood the implications of Ning Chu’s question, her face turning even redder, but her tone was excited, “I checked him with magic! At least eighteen!”
Well, how ordinary is that?
Most guys just seem average compared to her male protagonist…
Ning Chu looked worriedly at Qian Qian’s petite stature of just over five feet: “Can you handle it?”
“Hey! We’re not even on that path yet; why are we talking about this?”
“Girls chasing boys is just a thin veil; if you want to go after him, it’s easy!”
Ning Chu was quite interested in this matter and wanted to meddle, “Why not ask him out for a hangout to gauge his character? Also, let’s have Shao Qing find out if he has any black history?”
“Sounds good?”
