516. The Reason
“Why is that?”
“Hmm?”
“Clearly I want to have a boyfriend, but I feel really repulsed by men.”
Ning Chu had been troubled by this question for a long time, ever since her freshman year.
At first, she thought it was because Lily had serious social anxiety, unwilling to interact with strangers or make new friends.
But later she realized that even in class, faced with the often-outgoing Wang Jie and Zhang Shaoqing, Lily would still maintain that cold, iceberg-like expression that screamed “stay away.” The only time she seemed a bit more relaxed was when she was hanging out with Wen Yang.
Most likely, it was due to Wen Yang’s aura as the male lead in Little Emperor Wen that’s messing with her.
Ning Chu was even a bit worried that this girl had some special feelings for Wen Yang.
Lily’s expression stiffened slightly, and she awkwardly turned her head, tucking her long hair behind her ear.
“What’s wrong~”
She opened her mouth, then after a pause, she vaguely replied, “I’ve had some not-so-good experiences in the past…”
Ning Chu was taken aback and didn’t dare to press on; feeling guilty, she let out a soft “oh” and wrapped her arms around Lily’s shoulders affectionately, “It’s okay, it’s all in the past.”
In her mind, she imagined Lily as a sweet, innocent little girl being chased by a creepy uncle… terrifying!
Rumor has it that even cute boys can fall victim to such things. What can we say? There are too many perverts in this world.
“Hmm…” Lily frowned and corrected her, “It’s not like you think.”
“It can’t be worse, right?”
Ning Chu feared the misunderstanding would grow, so she quickly explained, “Since I was little, those boys used to bully me… After being picked on so much, it just turned into dislike.”
“Ah?”
Lily puffed up her cheeks angrily, “Since I was little! From the orphanage to high school! There were always a few boys picking on me!”
“Maybe… they wanted to get your attention?”
Ning Chu awkwardly and guiltily averted her gaze, trying to defend those boys.
“I know! But it’s really annoying! Boys are all so immature!”
She herself was the silly brat who used to tease her female classmates… felt like she had just been hit by a splash of AOE damage.
When she was younger, she enjoyed teasing the pretty girl sitting in front of her, especially pulling on that strap tied behind her neck, only to get chased and beaten up afterward.
Only after becoming female did she realize that strap was most likely a girl’s bra strap.
Wouldn’t that just invite a beating…
But Lily was so introverted that she probably wouldn’t fight back when bullied; she would just silently deal with it and stew in her own anger.
“You lived in an orphanage before, huh?”
“Yeah, when I was really little, I can’t remember clearly.”
Ning Chu had known for a long time that Lily was adopted by her current family, which is why this little succubus ended up so conservative.
“It’s about time for class.”
Wen Yang reminded from across the table.
“Okay~” Ning Chu started to pack her textbooks and suddenly had a bright idea, “Wanna come over to my place for a few days during summer vacation?”
“Ah?”
“Isn’t your mom and dad away for the summer? My place is super lively, plus I have an adorable catgirl!”
Lily quickly recalled how, in their freshman year, Ning Chu had brought a cute little catgirl to class; she was indeed adorable.
But she hesitated and shook her head, “Let’s see when the time comes, okay?”
She wasn’t too fond of visiting other people’s homes, even though she was very curious about what other succubus families were like.
Is it as chaotic as one of those rom-coms, where every day could fill a chapter of Little Emperor Wen?
“Hmm.”
After packing her books, Ning Chu hurried to catch up with Wen Yang’s pace.
She lamented, “Junior year classes are so hard; I can’t understand anything… Can you let me copy during the exam?”
“Just half an hour ago, I was teaching you, and you were already impatient; what makes you think it’ll be easy?”
“You do make it really boring.”
Wen Yang suggested with a mischievous grin, “I’ve got an idea that could help you improve quickly.”
“Let’s hear it?”
Ning Chu instinctively asked, but quickly sensed his somewhat sinister look, and chills ran down her spine as she quietly stepped back, hugging her books, “No way!”
“Then I’m out of ideas; cheating is off the table; what if we get caught?”
“Pervert!”
“I didn’t say anything yet; how am I a pervert?”
She scoffed but was still curious enough to lean closer, whispering, “What’s your idea? Can it really help me pass?”
“Hard to say; it depends on you.”
“Are you suggesting borrowing magic from Lily to cheat?”
Wen Yang rolled his eyes at her, “Can you think of something legitimate?”
“Like….” Wen Yang grabbed the notes from Ning Chu’s hands, flipping through a few pages, and continued, “Review one chapter daily, and at night, I’ll quiz you. If you can’t answer, no late-night snacks for you.”
“Or we could flip it around? But I’m afraid you won’t wake up the next day.”
“…”
How did that idea seem a bit like training?
Her own writings in Little Emperor Wen were never this outrageous!
Ning Chu’s mouth twitched, and she nervously glanced around, afraid someone would overhear.
But soon she turned to see Lily blushing and quietly stepping back, putting some distance between them.
Even if Lily couldn’t understand the slang about late-night snacks, from the previous sentences and their expressions, she could guess that what she just heard was definitely not child-friendly.
Lily overheard!
Ning Chu stomped her foot at Wen Yang angrily, “Let’s talk about this later… Why are we discussing this out here?”
But Wen Yang’s suggestion… was oddly stimulating!
Just imagining that scene got her heart racing! But it felt a bit too perverted…
Her eyes sparkled, and yet her feet were planted to the ground. The inner conflict she had quickly faded away.
“My belly hurts~”
“Your period came?”
“Probably.”
She regretfully rubbed her slightly aching belly, thankful she had been wearing a sanitary napkin these days, so there was no concern of any surprise red stains appearing.
Monthly Aunt Flo was such a nuisance.
Though the cramps weren’t severe, they were annoying and messed with her mood.
Wen Yang sighed helplessly; this meant he couldn’t do anything with Ning Chu for at least a week.
What frustrated him was that this little succubus always loved to tease him around this time, deliberately wearing those partially revealing clothes while swaying her waist and hips, yet he found himself utterly helpless against Ning Chu.
He rummaged through his bag and pulled out a warm pack he had prepared, handing it to Ning Chu, “Here, stick this on. It’ll feel a bit better.”
“Thanks.”
Ning Chu’s bag was filled with various small gadgets, usually carried by Wen Yang, unlike Lily, who insisted on handling everything herself.
“I also brought a thermos; wait a sec, I’ll get you some hot water.”
“There’s no hot water around… I’d rather drink something cold.”
“Office then.”
Just then, they reached the right floor for the office, and Wen Yang boldly headed to knock on the teacher’s door.
“Drinking something cold is really fine…,” Ning Chu muttered. On a hot day like this, even if Aunt Flo showed up, she’d still prefer cold water.
