Ning Chu was woken up by the doorbell ringing outside the house.
She blinked her eyes open, feeling a bit disoriented, and instinctively glanced to her side, but there was no sign of Wen Yang. Instead, there was a cold breakfast left on the bedside table.

“I was sleeping, okay?”

“The doctor said it was fine.” Ning Chu tapped the cat’s head, “And here you are trying to lecture me?”
“I’m just worried about the baby!”
Black Bean curiously glanced at her sister. Though the disarrayed sleepwear couldn’t hide the faint bruises on her fair skin, and her sister’s walk was awkward and slightly limping as she took a seat on the sofa, her spirit was evidently in high gear with rosy cheeks and bright, lively eyes.
“You’re outrageous, sis-in-law!” Black Bean exclaimed in indignation as she approached.
“Mind your own business!” Ning Chu rolled her eyes, her cheeks blushing slightly as she fumbled to tidy up her sleepwear.
“You didn’t call me for last night’s barbecue! What a j*rk!”
“There’s still uncooked meat in the fridge.”
“Great~ then I’ll make some barbecue for lunch?”
“Sure.”
Black Bean checked the time, then jumped up from the sofa in a flurry, “Alright, I’ll cook! What’s left in the fridge? What do you want for lunch, sis?”
During the summer vacation, as a student of a technical high school with no homework, she had nothing much to do, so she took charge of Ning Chu’s lunch, and afterwards, they could play computer games together.
Ning Chu followed her to the kitchen and opened the fridge: “We just bought the ingredients last night… Let’s have leek and egg, and chili and meat stir-fry…”
“Sis, you’re pregnant, you shouldn’t have too much spicy or heavy-tasting things.”
Black Bean opposed with her hands on her hips.
“The doctor said I could eat them, stop being so fussy.”

She paused for a second, quickly convinced by Ning Chu, and muttered while taking the ingredients from the fridge, “That’s true…”
Although Black Bean claimed to be around sixteen or seventeen years old, she actually looked like a junior high school student, innocent and youthful. Though she was a few centimeters taller than Ning Chu, she didn’t have much chest, and her short-sleeve shirts showed little curve. Her eyes were always particularly clear and bright, making her seem like a pure, sheltered young girl.
In reality, this cat knew everything, and was quite vulgar on the internet, with a heavy taste for extreme content.
She had poor academic performance, which is why she could only go to technical high school, but her cooking skills were actually quite good, better gifted than Ning Chu, inheriting her mother’s culinary expertise.
The sound of washing rice came from the kitchen. Ning Chu wasn’t worried about Black Bean messing up lunch, so she turned toward the bathroom.

“Old ones will do, taking wedding photos is exhausting.”
“Is that so~ how do you plan to decorate? This is going to be your marital home!”
Ning Chu leaned against the sofa, habitually tucking her legs under her chest, and carefully answered, “Just some balloons, some “喜” characters, and maybe a red quilt?”

She glanced at Black Bean, “Then how about you, how should we decorate with your little brain?”
“What if we cover the bed entirely with petals? Sounds romantic!”
“On the wedding night, laying with sis-in-law on a bed of petals~”
Ning Chu imagined the scene, it indeed seemed quite beautiful, but the problem was, it might be hard to sleep lying on a heap of petals.
Black Bean finished blowing up a red balloon and looked up at the ceiling in the living room, “Sis, if we arrange some balloons on the ceiling in the shape of a heart, wouldn’t that look great too?”

“Hello?”
“Is that Ning Chu?”
Although the number was unfamiliar, that light-hearted tone was quite recognizable.
“Shao Qing? Did you change your number? Why’re you calling me? It’s almost lunch time; we can play games later.”
“Can I come over early to help with the wedding? Where do you live? I’ll drive over.”
