605. The News of the Class Reunion
Leaning against the armrest of the sofa, Ning Chu elegantly crossed her legs, her gaze fixed on the TV screen where a drama was playing.
However, the loud chatter between Black Bean and her daughter was a bit too much, and it kept pulling her attention away.
She used to hate noise, especially from kids; their high-pitched screams would pierce her eardrums and make her feel frazzled. But ever since having her daughter, she had gradually gotten used to, and even grown fond of, the kids’ playful shenanigans. She would always smile lovingly as she watched her daughter bounce around, feeling perfectly satisfied by her health and vitality.
Although frequently driven to near hypertension, this life wasn’t bad at all!
“Sis, can I sleep in the same room as Shuqin tonight?” Black Bean suddenly darted over, leaning on the sofa with wide eyes, “That way, I won’t disturb you and brother-in-law, right~?”
Ning Chu shot her a glance, “You can share a room with Shuqin if she’s okay with it.”
“It’s almost ten! Time for a bath, then bed!”
Black Bean looked shocked, “What!? It’s only ten! I can’t sleep!”
As a college student, Black Bean considered it early if she went to bed before midnight. She often played mobile games with her roommates until two or three in the morning. It had been ages since she’d fallen asleep before midnight.
“Once we all go to sleep, it’ll just be you alone at night~”
Stretching lazily, Ning Chu got up from the sofa and called out to her daughter, “Shuqin, time for a bath.”
“Wait!”
“Stop playing.”
She urged and turned her head towards the door, mumbling, “Where’s your dad? Why hasn’t he come back yet?”
Just as she mentioned Wen Yang, the sound of the elevator dinging echoed from the hallway, followed by a soft “ding” as he opened the front door, arms laden with shopping bags.
“Took over an hour to drop Mom off?”
“Don’t even mention it. Got dragged to the supermarket and picked up some fruits and snacks.”
As soon as the word “snacks” was mentioned, Black Bean and Shuqin rushed over to Wen Yang, peering into the shopping bags.
“Dad! What did you buy?”
“Brother-in-law! Did you get something just for me?”
Wen Yang chuckled as he set down the shopping bags, “Yes, yes, got them for you two…”
Previously, they had stocked up on tons of cheese sticks and various snacks, but the daughter hardly touched any—as it turned out, he and Ning Chu had devoured them all!
“Don’t eat too much,” Ning Chu reminded her before turning to Black Bean, “Why didn’t you bring any clothes with you?”
“I’m wearing my sister’s! My luggage has been at home for ages!”
“Alright then… how about this long dress?”
Black Bean froze for a moment, then teased Wen Yang, “Really? My figure is great~”
Ning Chu nearly burst out laughing; with Black Bean’s petite frame, Wen Yang would probably be too lazy to even look at her in a sundress.
She didn’t have a bigger chest, a perkier b*tt, or a slimmer waist than Ning Chu!
“What are you laughing at!” Black Bean huffed, emitting an instinctive grumble from her throat.
“Nothing, I’ll go get you some clothes.”
Ning Chu walked straight to the bedroom, grabbed a few sets of pajamas, and stuffed a long dress into Black Bean’s arms, “Here, wear this.”
“Isn’t it a little camisole?”
“Not appropriate. Don’t want you feeling self-conscious.”
She was just saying it; there was no way she’d let Black Bean wear a little camisole. She’d be jealous if Wen Yang even glanced at her!
“You’re just being cowardly~” Black Bean swished her tail and jogged into the bathroom, popping her head out a moment later, “Sis, can I take Shuqin with me to wash?”
“That’s fine.”
After being a woman for so long and having had a child, Ning Chu was no longer that shy succubus who couldn’t change in front of other girls.
Back then, she’d get bashful changing in front of other girls, but now she could even shower with others around, feeling completely at ease, even a bit proud.
Not many women in real life could boast her figure.
After showering and slipping into a light, short-sleeved nightgown, Ning Chu yawned and headed towards the bedroom.
“Black Bean, make sure Shuqin goes to sleep early; don’t let it go past 10:30.”
“Got it~”
“And you too, hit the hay early. Look at those dark circles under your eyes…” She turned to glance back at Black Bean’s lovely cat-like eyes but didn’t spot any dark circles, so she smirked, “Night owl~”
Wen Yang had already showered in another bathroom and was now lying on the head of the bed, waving at his wife at the door, “Come to bed; don’t worry about them.”
“Careful you don’t corrupt Shuqin…”
Ning Chu mumbled as she shut the door and locked it casually.
She looked up at Wen Yang, who had a rather mischievous grin on his face, his eyes wandering shamelessly over her assets. Her cheeks flushed slightly as she shot him an annoyed glare, “The kids aren’t even sleeping yet!”
Wen Yang loved to tease her on purpose, and she enjoyed playing the shy girl role.
If she boldly waved him over and shouted things like “Come get me,” it would lose all the charm of the moment!
With a vigilant expression, Ning Chu sat on the opposite side of the bed, but Wen Yang stubbornly inched closer, almost like a devil whispering in her ear, “The door’s locked; it’s fine.”
“Absolutely not!”
“Then you start first…” Wen Yang’s gaze landed on Ning Chu’s luscious lips, “We are an old married couple, right?”
“You’re such a pervert~”
Ning Chu vigorously shook her head in refusal.
It wasn’t shyness; she was just worried Black Bean would catch on to her childlike habits by morning.
Fortunately, her phone on the nightstand started buzzing.
She hurriedly picked it up, dismissively saying, “Lily and Xinya are calling, wait a sec.”
Every now and then, Ning Chu, Yan Xinya, and Lily would do a group voice call to grumble about their daily irritations, gossip about the latest happenings, and poke fun at Lily for not having kids yet…
Qian Qian would occasionally jump in, but her work was so demanding, unlike the rest of them, who were either home with kids or trying to conceive, so they were all a bit too idle.
“Ning Chu! It’s confirmed! Qian Qian also has time off during the eleven holidays! Let’s plan the reunion for National Day this year!”
Wolf Girl’s voice was always booming, while Lily was much more gentle.
“Are we still going to your place?”
Ning Chu, however, disagreed, “We always go to your house. It’s too much hassle bringing the kids over; let’s do it at mine this time! Xinya, bring your kid too—perfect for my daughter to play with.”
“Awesome! We should arrange the matchmaker thing for them!”
“What’s the point of that? Let them build their relationship on their own; it’s not like we’re in feudal times here… Hey!”
She suddenly gasped.
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing.”
Ning Chu shoved the unwanted hand away from her chest, annoyed, and glared up at Wen Yang. She gave him a kick, but he caught her foot skillfully in his hand.
“Playing phone games?” Hearing her playful huffs, Lily guessed coldly, “Is Ning Chu sticking her b*tt out now?”
“Wow~ no wonder you’re a succubus~” Yan Xinya’s realization was like a light bulb going off. “You’re having too much fun!”
