Chapter 3~ The Land of Fantasy and the Golden Elf Empress
“King of the Moon Elves, you want us to call you ‘Great Ancestor’??”
Dillin couldn’t picture the haughty celestials of the Sky Dragon race kneeling down and shouting ‘Great Ancestor’ at all.
At the same time, he was puzzled why the Moon Elf in front of him wasn’t looking down on him with any trace of disdain.
He wasn’t unfamiliar with pure-blooded elves either. Coleman Academy was originally established in elven lands, elves may be aloof and feel superior to other races to study in the same school, but there were still quite a few elves in the campus.
It wasn’t just the high-ranking Moon Elves, even Wood Elves treated humans rather arrogantly. Despite their polite and decent manner of speech, deep down, they still held humans in contempt.
This left Dillin with a very poor impression of elves. Recent events have only made Dillin’s attitude towards elves even more negative.
Everyone says elves are a treat to the eyes, but if it weren’t for the money, he would much prefer not to deal with these Sky Dragons at all.
The elf girl standing in front of him seemed to be around the same age as Aistride, but Dillin knew that you couldn’t judge the age of an elf by appearance alone. A charming young maiden might just as well have lived for thousands of years.
Whatever, it doesn’t concern him whether what she says is true or not, that’s their business within the elf race. Dillin only cared about his own money.
“Your so-called Elf Empress, didn’t she say she needed to see me? Take me to meet her.”
“……………” Upon hearing this, the elf maiden paused for a moment in silence.
“Your Highness, allow me, this humble servant, to remind you, even you cannot disrespect the Elf Empress like this, after all, she is your……….”
“Alright, I get it, take me there.” Dillin impatiently said.
“…….Please, hold my hand,” the elf girl sighed.
It’s probably better he doesn’t say much about family affairs.
Dillin hesitated for a moment before touching the hand the elf maiden extended, he hadn’t even had time to savor the feel of her palm when, the scene in front of his eyes changed, bringing him to a golden hall atop an ancient tree.
When he regained his senses, the moon elf girl was nowhere to be seen, leaving Dillin alone in the dim hall.
Golden-edged red carpets laid down, ten-thousand-year-old golden woods weaving the dome, only when you stood inside could you fully grasp the grand scale of this palace.
This palace, growing on the ancient tree, seemed to possess some kind of life force, like the silver gauze seeping through the dew-woven dome, casting into the hall, gazing upward gave the feeling of being underwater.
Why was he left alone?……… No, not exactly alone.
Dillin noticed a figure sitting on the throne ahead.
“BOOM BOOM BOOM!” The crystal butterflies floating around in the hall burst into a glow, lighting up the entire hall.
Dillin was stunned as he looked at the silhouette on the throne.
The dazzling platinum hair flowed smoothly down her back, her skin like the warmth of the sun falling on pristine snow, white and lustrous. Thick golden lashes cast shadows, giving her olive gem-like eyes a tinge of light, her cherry lips slightly curved into a trace of a smile.
Seated on the throne, the golden-haired elf stood apart from the world, resembling a celestial being untouched by worldly concerns.
Dillin had once read a plot description in a fairy tale book in this world: ‘The fairy princess secluded in the forest, passerby lost souls just by catching a glimpse of her, for a fleeting look at her unique beauty in the world would make them forget everything they care about.’
Originally, he thought this description was exaggerated to fool people, but until today, Dillin believed that there really are faces beautiful enough in this world that once you see them, you forget everything else.
This charm was enough to make the gold sun and silver moon pale in comparison, stunning Dillin in place, causing him to forget the very purpose of his visit.
“Pathetic creatures seeking security from weapons they cannot protect themselves with, this is the inherent nature of humanity, is it not?” The golden-haired elf seated on the throne spoke, her voice as enchanting as lilies in a secluded valley, reverberating through Dillin’s ears, seeping straight into his heart.
Coming back to his senses, Dillin noticed that at some point, he had taken the flintlock from his back, gripping it tightly in his hand, and his palms were already drenched in sweat…………
Like an animal encountering a natural predator, triggering the fear ingrained in its DNA, humans too have corresponding stress responses when facing an unchallengeable superior.
Dillin could clearly feel that his legs had gone limp, weak to the point of being unable to stand………..
What kind of being was he facing here??
“Me? As you see, I am an elf.” The golden-haired girl stood up from the throne, her green olive gem-like eyes seemingly holding an entire forest of lush vitality.
Could she hear my thoughts??
“For me, this presents no difficulty.” The golden-haired elf was dressed in a white feathered gown, crowned with an elf laurel wreath made of golden horns and garlands, from beneath the semi-transparent gown, one can faintly see her long slender legs.
Her snow-white feet walked barefoot, green leaves cradling her pink soles.
………Was she a Moon Elf, or a Wood Elf? Or even a Snow Elf?……….
“None of the above, I am the direct descendant of the Elven Ancestor God.”
Elves, Ancestor God?
That’s right, she has golden hair……… Could it be, Gold Elf??
Dillin remembered a book about elves where he had read about different types of elves.
Gold Elves and Moon Elves are the direct descendants of the Elven Ancestor God, having bl**d ties with the Elven Ancestor God, and the remaining elves are the creations of the Elven Ancestor God.
Therefore, Gold Elves and Moon Elves are collectively referred to as ‘High Elves’, out of which Gold Elves have the closest bl**d relation to the Ancestral God, the longest lifespan, but at the same time, are also the rarest of all elven races.
As the royal family of the Forest of Elves, Moon Elves are very difficult for ordinary people to encounter, but there’s at least a possibility, Gold Elves don’t appear at all. This race hasn’t been seen in the mortal world for hundreds of years.
“That’s correct, good guess.” Before the last word faded away, the golden-haired elf princess holding the scepter had already appeared in front of Dillin, her breathtakingly beautiful face so close, and those overwhelming ‘headlights’ equally close.
Under the clear and penetrating green-eyed gaze, it felt like all his secrets and thoughts had no place to hide.
Dillin was shocked, but this made him even more curious.
He couldn’t fathom why such an entity would approach him.
He was just an ordinary human being, a commoner seen everyday…………
“But your soul, is no ordinary one.”
My soul?
Wait a minute………
Dillin remembered something.
When entering Coleman Academy, Dillin had participated in a soul test, the method was simply placing the palm on a crystal ball.
Dillin didn’t hold much hope for getting into Coleman Academy, but right after this soul test, the instructor told him he had passed.
So, it was like this………
This pointy-eared elf had undoubtedly taken an interest in him back then! Which is why he was admitted in exception.
“Looks like I needn’t waste words explaining further.” The lips of the Gold Elf in front of him curved slightly, revealing a bewitching smile. “You’ve figured everything out already.”
What do you want with my soul??
Unable to speak, he might as well just think it out, communication this way was fine anyway since he had nothing to hide from this person.
“Human, your soul is special, explaining the intricacies would likely be beyond your understanding. Keeping it simple, your soul is extremely similar to that of a dear one who has passed.”
The Elven Empress was lost in reminiscence as she stroked Dillin’s motionless cheek.
So what?……….
“Everything requires some form of currency, especially when it comes to crossing life and d*ath.”
……… Do you want to sacrifice my soul to resurrect your loved one??
“No, human, explaining the intricacies of souls isn’t something that can be explained simply………. The great probability is, you, are her.”
??!!
“If that’s the case, then it’s not a sacrifice, but rather, a reincarnation.”
……… I guarantee your hypothesis is wrong.
Dillin knew that he must absolutely not be a reincarnation of the Elven Empress’s lost beloved, he came from Earth’s dimension and didn’t have any concept of previous life.
