Chapter 65: Building Together
“Greetings, Night Star, Senior Blank. Good evening.”
Qing Liao Qing, sitting on the sofa, smiled and stood up. Before she could say anything, Night Star walked over and hugged her.
“Got a report that you were attacked again today when checking out the stage. Did you get hurt?”
“No, the people from the Order of Sequence protected me pretty well. Not a scratch. And there’s no need for you to worry; someone will take care of me.”
“What? How can you not worry? You’re my friend! It’s natural to worry about your friends! If something happens to you, I’ll be super-duper sad!”
“Really? Well, I’m honored.”
Unable to keep her distance given Night Star’s straightforward words, Qing Liao Qing just gave her head a pat in resignation.
Night Star released Qing Liao Qing and suggested, “Since you’re always in danger wherever you go, why don’t you come visit our theater before the concert starts?”
“Let me decline again. If I vanish without reason, big chaos is bound to happen.”
“Alright, fine.”
Thus, the three sat down on the sofa to chat for the night.
Kong Yu Bai brought up the topic first.
“I wrote a new song today. Want to hear it?”
Qing Liao Qing’s eyes lit up.
“Sure, really possible?”
Given that Kong Yu Bai was much more skilled as a songstress, Qing Liao usually had very candid reactions.
At least in her subconscious, Kong Yu Bai was the best—her songs were top-notch and never failed to impress.
Night Star chimed in to agree and listen to the new song.
“Sing, sing faster! I want to hear a brand new song!”
Under their encouraging gazes, Kong Yu Bai chuckled softly, “Though I have written the tune, I haven’t recorded it yet, so I guess I’ll have to hum according to the melody.”
“No problem, just sing.”
Yeah, right. Even without accompaniment, just listening to Kong Yu Bai’s voice was a treat.
When someone’s voice was that good, whether or not there was accompaniment didn’t matter much anymore.
Which was perfect for Kong Yu Bai.
There were no bad world songstresses.
She then let out an ethereal voice that echoed in the room—it had great soundproofing, or else those three from the Order of Sequence next door wouldn’t be able to ignore it.
“Oh~”
“True to her title, Senior Blank…”
Night Star and Qing Liao were both enchanted by Kong Yu Bai’s vocals, feeling as though their souls had been purified.
Being highly musically inclined, Qing Liao could easily discern the song’s subtleties. Both lyrics and melody reached a premium standard, making it perfectly suited for a concert with potential for viral success.
Even despite her own musical skills, Qing Liao couldn’t replicate such high quality without inspiration and time. Could this be Kong Yu Bai’s quick creation?
Wow.
The earlier Qing Liao felt like retiring so young was a huge loss for the songstress community.
With such high creativity and a peak vocal state, she absolutely could make it big.
If Kong Yu Bai hadn’t dropped out of being a songstress, Qing Liao might actually compete with such an intense rival.
But now she feels both lucky and regretful.
Meanwhile, Night Star didn’t think too much about it.
While she did learn some music theory from Kong Yu Bai, her opinion came purely from emotions and preferences.
Any song that touched her soul was considered wonderful!
And the current song she was singing just happened to do exactly that.
A short while later…
Kong Yu Bai’s singing faded out, leaving a lingering echo.
Clap, clap, clap—
Night Star and Qing Liao clapped heartily in approval.
“It’s lovely!” — Night Star’s simple but true assessment.
Qing Liao agreed.
“Truly, if only I could have that song… once performed at a concert, it’d definitely bring listeners a huge surprise.”
Kong Yu Bai chuckled again.
“No way, that song is for Night Star. One day, I’ll write a few custom ones just for you.”
“I look forward to it, since it’s Senior Blank’s song, it’s absolutely solid.”
“But this goes both ways. Why not write a few songs for Night Star too?” A mischievous idea popped in Kong Yu Bai’s head, aiming to rope in Qing Liao for the project.
Songstresses from two major worlds together? That’d certainly raise eyebrows.
Qing Liao quickly caught on and agreed immediately.
“Sure, let’s work together. I wonder how high the Starry Sky Songstress will soar under our efforts.”
Excited, she wasn’t bothered at all.
Compared to non-stop concerts, working on Night Star was much more fun!
Night Star, however, wasn’t too pleased.
“Ugh… you’re teaming up against me. You’re being too mean.”
But not upset enough to storm off.
Sometimes, hearing herself sing was quite nice. She had a good voice, after all. Adding songs from Kong Yu Bai and Qing Liao would only improve things.
She didn’t even have to give concerts or anything; she just needed to sing a bit here and there.
Exactly.
Just then, the doorbell rang.
Probably from the Order of Sequence.
Night Star checked the time and realized they weren’t staying any longer.
“The chat for tonight ends here. See you tomorrow.”
“Yeah, see you tomorrow.”
Then, Kong Yu Bai and Night Star left through the Theater Door.
Qing Liao went to check and confirmed the person at the door was from the Order of Sequence before letting her in.
It was Mi Lei You.
Qing Liao noticed her enthusiasm towards her, not like a protector at all, but rather as a devoted fan.
“How can I help you, Mi Lei You?”
“Soul-Healing Songstress Qing Liao, can you teach me how to sing? I’ve been listening to your songs ever since you debuted.”
Qing Liao paused, nodding at Mi Lei You’s earnest expression.
“Sure, if you can put up with me, I’ll try to teach you.”
“Wonderful! Not an issue, very honored!”
Though she gave up on her old method of attracting believers through song, Mi Lei You still wanted that skill.
Treatment-star songstresses were great at physical injuries, but couldn’t mend emotional wounds.
But moving melodies could touch hearts, and Qing Liao could indeed soothe spirits with her songs.
Many impoverished believers recently turned to the Order for prayers, carrying heavy heart burdens.
Mi Lei You couldn’t do much but heal them indirectly, restoring their hope and courage.
In her role as a nun, this was the only small but meaningful thing she could do.
