023. It’s a Time Bomb!
==============================
Finally escaping the dorm manager, Lin Nan got back his student ID, but he felt the dorm manager still didn’t believe he was a guy.
“Shouldn’t be, right?”
He muttered to himself. The manager did say he looked manly enough, but did his body really mirror that of a girl?
Lin Nan knew he occasionally exhibited feminine gestures, but after being in the dorm for so long, he thought he had suppressed them well. A week had gone by, and he believed he no longer pouted or frowned like a girl throwing a tantrum. However, it turned out that these habits had gradually seeped into him, becoming part of his very being.
Exhausted, he arrived at the cafeteria and pushed against the glass door. Just as the dorm manager said, it was still firmly closed.
Resigned, he plopped himself down on a long bench outside, resting his chin in his hands while staring at a massive banyan tree not far away.
“I’m so hungry…” He rubbed his belly. He hadn’t eaten a thing yesterday and now breakfast was just within reach, yet the cafeteria still hadn’t opened.
He leaned back against the bench, lost in thought, gazing aimlessly at the clouds in the sky.
Various strange thoughts began bubbling up in the calm.
How would he face his parents and relatives during the winter break? If he really turned into a woman because of magic, would he have to find a boyfriend later? And what if there were other pursuers chasing him? Wouldn’t it just be giving himself away?
A swarm of questions buzzed in his mind, leaving Lin Nan feeling utterly uninspired and just planning to get by.
He always thought he’d just coast through college, find a decent job, start paying off student loans and mortgages, eventually get nudged into marriage by his parents, and pass on everything to the next generation… Before all this, he even thought such a predictable life was boring and wanted to change it.
But did he change a bit too much?
Suddenly, Lin Nan felt a gaze lingering on him.
Looking up, he saw Li Na, who he had met the night before.
“So early?” He waved his hand in a lackluster greeting, not caring much about her presence, and went back to daydreaming.
Li Na walked up to him with a blank expression, looking down at the troubled boy who was feeling despair because of his body’s transformation.
“Come with me. It’s better than being an ordinary person in this world without magic for a lifetime. You won’t be able to go back,” she said suddenly. “I have a way to take you back, just hope you won’t do any evil when you return.”
Lin Nan couldn’t be bothered to explain—it wouldn’t help anyway.
“You’ve changed a lot in this world,” Li Na said, sitting beside him, her tone gradually softening. “Since I discovered you, I’ve been observing for quite a while. Maybe there’s still a chance for you to turn back.”
“Crazy,” Lin Nan couldn’t help but retort. “I already said Lilith is dead.”
“Yes! That witch is dead! But when you go back, you can hide your identity and live the second half of your life with me!”
Li Na suddenly got all enthusiastic, grabbing Lin Nan’s hand tightly. He was startled and instinctively tried to pull away, but her grip was astonishingly strong—like a vice. With no choice, he surrendered to her grip, deciding to see what else Li Na had to say.
“You promised when we were kids that we’d always be together…”
“Uh… let me interrupt you.” Lin Nan awkwardly tried to pull his hand free again, but having no luck, asked, “When you say the second half of life, how long are we talking about?”
“Two thousand years!”
Are you kidding me? If I can even live to sixty to retire, that’s already a win, and you’re talking about two thousand years?
If you calculate their two-thousand-year lifespan, both Lilith and Li Na would only be around three hundred years old – basically still teenagers. No wonder Li Na looked so young!
Lin Nan felt a bit anxious; the last time he saw this crazy girl, she pulled out a kn*fe right in a crowded, dimly lit playground. Now it was broad daylight, and there were no school staff or students nearby. If he got kidnapped again, shouting for help would be pointless.
Noticing Lin Nan trembling slightly in fear, Li Na inched closer, her body pressed against him.
With her lithe form so close, Lin Nan’s mind was devoid of any romantic thoughts. All he could think about was if some hidden kn*fe was thrust against him somewhere he couldn’t see.
“Lilith…” Li Na gently called out the name of the deceased.
“Um…” Suddenly realizing the cafeteria had opened, he jumped up. “I’m going to breakfast now.”
“Together.”
Before he knew it, she had thrown her arms around his as they stiffly walked into the cafeteria.
Lin Nan had imagined how his first intimate contact with a girl would play out, but he never thought it would feel like being skewered on a barbecue skewer.
Time dragged on for Lin Nan, while Li Na whispered a string of nonsensical things in his ear.
“Lilith, you’ve changed so much; you used to shove me away.”
“Lilith, let’s take a bath together tonight?”
“When will you turn back into your old self?”
“Lilith, you aren’t looking for a boyfriend in this world, right?”
Most of her words went in one ear and out the other as he reflexively replied with “uh-huh,” but as he sat down with his breakfast, it suddenly hit him.
Could it be that Li Na has a crush on Lilith?
“Right! Lilith, what’s your name in this world?”
“Lin Nan.”
“Nan Nan? Such a nice name!”
Nice? Don’t you sound just like Tu Junhui, throwing around cute nicknames like you know me well?
Lin Nan’s mouth twitched, and he began to notice a pattern.
Could it be that this witch and the saintess actually had a yuri relationship? He frowned, unable to comprehend what was unfolding before his eyes.
Not that Lilith’s memories were completely absent; they were just buried under three hundred years’ worth of information and were hard to recall. He wasn’t a computer that could search for keywords.
After all, he had forgotten countless memories from his eighteen years of life; trying to recall three hundred years of someone else’s memories was even more impossible.
“What’s wrong?” Li Na looked down at her attire. “Isn’t this how everyone dresses in this world?”
“Nothing, weren’t you planning on killing me yesterday?”
“I just wanted to scare you first; if you had tried to resist with your magic, I’d have to k*ll you right then. After all, reincarnating in another body takes time to recover. If that doesn’t work, I’ll have to resort to gentler methods.” Li Na boldly stated. “In this world, I also don’t have much magic left to use. Most of it is reserved for getting home, saving wherever I can, plus I’ve noticed you’ve changed quite a bit, so maybe you’ll listen to me.”
So basically, I was almost killed, huh?
The girl in front of Lin Nan was a total time bomb!
