146. You Really Are a Girl
Lin Nan was almost overwhelmed by embarrassment.
If the other students found out he had lined up with the girls, they might tease him a bit, but if the counselor discovered it… well, that would be a whole different level of teasing.
“Uh…” He didn’t even know how to explain himself. The look of suspicion on the counselor’s face made him feel like a total creep!
But he couldn’t come up with an explanation. He kept his head down, cheeks flushed, waiting for the counselor to give him a good scolding. Unfortunately, his feet refused to leave the girls’ line. He couldn’t bear the thought of everyone watching him lift his shirt to show his belly! If it went too far, the doctor might even ask him to take off his top!
The counselor, encountering a situation like this for the first time, scratched his head, unsure of what to say.

Lin Nan cautiously peeked up to gauge the counselor’s expression, and to his surprise, it seemed to have softened quite a bit.

“You don’t even know your counselor’s name? How have you been studying for the past two years?” The counselor was taken aback but then chuckled at the sight of Lin Nan’s pitiful big eyes. It gave him a strange feeling like he was facing a cute girl, and his frustration eased significantly. Feeling a bit embarrassed when his name was brought up, he scratched his nose and said, “Zheng Qian. Just call me Zheng Dao.”
Upon hearing that name, Lin Nan felt much closer to the counselor: “Earn money?”

Zheng Qian emphasized this, noting how the ambiguity of his name made it hard for him to establish authority among the students. He had even tried to lessen the impact of his name; in the class group chat, he was simply referred to as “Zheng Dao,” not by his name.
He watched Lin Nan’s retreating figure and sighed. This was his first class, and somehow, he ended up with a peculiar student. And on top of that, the student was cute.

“Alright.”
Letting out a deep breath, he peered back in the direction where he came from. It seemed the counselor really was gone. Once he finished the vision test, he could slip back into the girls’ line.
Honestly, he didn’t want to do this. He was completely averse to anything feminine, and he didn’t want to be seen as a girl. But the thought of lying down and being looked at by several people was even worse!

With his vision check being a breeze, Lin Nan zipped through it. Walking out, he hurried back to Chen Yao and whispered, “Can you keep an eye out for the counselor? I’ll go line up.”

“I’m going to do the internal exam with the girls,” Lin Nan replied, feeling rather shameful about it. But after multiple encounters with magic, he’d almost lost all sense of modesty. Chen Yao nodded, understanding Lin Nan’s situation and not seeing any issue with his plan.
So with a clear path ahead, Lin Nan rushed off to do the internal exam. As expected, once inside the room, the female doctor didn’t even realize he was a “male.” Just like with any other girl, she went through the examination routine, checked off the exam form, and waved him out.
Feeling incredibly clever, Lin Nan emerged from the room only to find Liu Xuefei standing at the door, her eyes wide.
“???” She stared at Lin Nan with bewilderment, unsure if she had almost walked into the wrong room. But after looking again at the makeshift sign on the door, she suddenly understood. “You really are a girl!”
“How come you’re everywhere I go?” Lin Nan’s face was filled with despair.
He completely lost track of how to explain himself.
