### Chapter 177: Being a Woman is Such a Hassle
The early morning sun streamed through the frosted glass of the back door, casting a golden glow on the dormitory floor.
Lin Nan, feeling a bit dazed, woke up and sat up, bleary-eyed, yawning as she scanned her surroundings.
Already wracked with expenses, Lin Nan suddenly realized she had an extra bill to worry about.
Nighttime sanitary pads…
A pack that costs less than ten bucks isn’t exactly breaking the bank, but the idea of this random, inexplicable expense stung like a paper cut.
That ten bucks could’ve paid for a nice lunch!
The pads couldn’t be left out in the open for her roommates to see, so Lin Nan had to hide them in her wardrobe, discreetly taking one out at night before bed, waking up extra early to change, and then making a stealthy trip downstairs to dispose of the evidence.
Thank goodness it was the weekend—her roommates were all snoozing like hibernating bears; typically, they wouldn’t budge before noon. Even if they stirred, they’d be sure to lounge in bed until at least 12 PM.
Feeling a bit more at ease, she grabbed a garbage bag and hurried into the bathroom.
Purification Magic!
In it went—the used pad tossed into the garbage bag—followed by an exchange for a pair of comfy boxers. Even with the pad, there was still a bit of leakage.
Was it a heavy flow or did she get the wrong brand?
Lin Nan was puzzled. Despite having been a woman for nearly two months now, she hadn’t really grasped what the differences between genders were—until now.
Being a woman is such a hassle! And being a woman hiding in a boys’ dorm? Even worse.
Emerging from the bathroom, she felt utterly drained.
Lin Nan had never been too clued into feminine issues, let alone feminine products.
A pack costing around ten bucks contained only eight pads. If she had to use them during the day, she’d have to change every few hours—that pack might barely last a day!
Luckily, she could use magic during the day, but she still needed a stash prepared, just in case she forgot to use it and ended up, well, leaking all over herself.
She stuffed the remaining pads into her hoodie for emergencies.
After tossing out the trash, Lin Nan allowed herself a sigh of relief—until she realized it was only the third day of her period.
Going by previous experience, she might have to deal with this for at least another couple of days.
She had initially thought about going back to catch more sleep, but after all that activity, her sleepiness turned into slight alertness, so she decided to wash up and sit in front of the computer to review her studies.
With magic, studying felt like a walk in the park—other than the awkward discomfort of a pad wedged between her legs, which had her squirming and adjusting her pants every so often.
Maybe she could look for a job while distributing flyers today too?
Lin Nan knew that quick cash usually didn’t involve honest labor—either it was selling her looks or doing something illegal. Otherwise, it was hard to drum up enough money for rent and living expenses in such a short time.
But hey, maybe if she tried hard enough, she might just strike gold?
She sighed, not holding out too much hope.
Perhaps she could borrow a bit of money from Li Na?
Lin Nan even considered moving into the rental apartment that Li Na lived in, but then she remembered that Lilith, who was currently residing there, was technically just a corpse, and it gave her the shivers.
But didn’t Li Na say that Lilith would come back to life when Lin Nan fully transitioned into a woman? …So where the heck was Lilith?
“Almost forgot to feed the cat breakfast!”
She temporarily set aside her lack of knowledge about magical realms, opened her wardrobe, and pulled out a massive bag of cat food.
Unlike the usual routine where Cola would bounce over as soon as the food bag rustled, today the cat seemed utterly exhausted.
Lin Nan glanced at the curled-up ball of fluff in the corner and crouched down, poking it gently: “Time to get up, breakfast awaits!”
“Meow…”
Cola was startled awake, leaping into the air like a furry pogo stick, arching its back and letting out a series of threatening growls at Lin Nan.
Lin Nan jumped at the sudden reaction and rolled her eyes, “I just wanted you to get up! No need to be so dramatic!”
“Meow!”
The cat didn’t seem to know what was going on, staring at Lin Nan for a moment before dropping its gaze back to its own paws.
“Crazy cat.”
Lin Nan had seen the internet label cats as neurotic before, but her Cola had always been pretty well-behaved—unlike today, which seemed out of sorts.
Maybe it was just spooked by me?
After filling the bowl with cat food and preparing some warm water, Lin Nan rose, furrowing her brow and rubbing her belly.
She was heading out to find Li Na, despite Lilith not having revived as expected yesterday. It was good news, but she still needed clarity on this magical mess from the professional herself.
Could it be that Lilith’s resurrection failed completely?
The thought made Lin Nan want to giggle mischievously, but if that were true, Li Na would probably be the first to lose it.
On weekends, Li Na usually worked on her plan to extract Lilith’s soul from Lin Nan’s body and tether it to the new one she had prepared.
She’d brought a mountain of books about souls from another world, and they were piled high on her rental apartment desk. Even with magic speeding up her reading, Li Na still had a hard time digesting all that information.
A month later, she had only managed to finish half of them.
Suddenly, her phone buzzed. Li Na glanced at the contact and sensed Lin Nan standing just outside her iron door but didn’t pick up. Instead, she went to open the door for her.
But upon seeing Lin Nan again, Li Na was bewildered.
“Didn’t I tell you it takes three to five times of magic for you to turn into a woman and for Lilith to be revived?! How are you already radiating such strong magical energy? Did you unlock the third spell?!”
“Um, yeah.”
“That should be the fourth, right?” Li Na frowned. “Not entirely impossible, I suppose.”
“Uh… I’m already a girl now.” Lin Nan weakly raised her hand, “But the thing is, Lilith, who was supposed to come back to life, is MIA.”
“???”
