### 193. Perhaps This Is the Shura Field?
When Lin Nan fell flat on the ground, she instinctively braced herself, resulting in a slight scrape on her palm. Her pants were torn, her knee ached, and she was limping as she walked.
She intended to turn down Zheng Qian’s generosity, but this guy had the thick skin of a rhino and persistently tugged at her arm, wearing a face of a perfectly qualified counselor: “I’m a counselor! How could I not care when a student is in trouble?!”
Chen Yao tried to retort, but suddenly Lin Yuan chimed in, nodding and urging, “Lin Nan, go put on some ointment. It won’t take long, and you can copy my notes later.”
Hey, can you not stick your nose in when you clearly don’t know what’s going on?
“Exactly, it won’t take much time.” Tu Junhui was also concerned for Lin Nan, although he felt Zheng Qian was a tad too eager here.
With a few supporters in tow, Zheng Qian was over the moon, while Lin Nan could only walk in resignation towards the infirmary with him.
Just before class, Lin Nan had used magic for a study session, cramming some knowledge points, which made her head feel like a balloon ready to pop. She really wanted to refuse, but the throbbing in her head didn’t give her room to think up excuses.
After a few steps, the class bell rang, and Zheng Qian turned back, glaring at Chen Yao, who was still trying to keep up: “Hurry back to class, don’t worry, I’ve got this.”
It’s because you’ve got it that I’m worried, okay?
Chen Yao walked ahead nonchalantly, “Skipped. No biggie.”
Seeing him approach, Lin Nan quickly shook off Zheng Qian and timidly hid behind Chen Yao.
Though Chen Yao seemed to have his own motives, at least he was a long-time friend, while Zheng Qian was the weirdo enthralled by her magic charm and eyeing her figure.
If it weren’t for the fact that she was staying at Zheng Qian’s friend’s rental, she wouldn’t be this polite either.
“Then let’s go together.” Zheng Qian, unfazed, stuffed his hands into his pockets and walked ahead. “The infirmary only takes cash. Lucky for me, I brought some.”
“No worries, I have cash too.” Chen Yao fired back.
These two were on decent terms, with Zheng Qian often recruiting Chen Yao when he couldn’t find the class leader or was short on manpower. The age gap between them wasn’t too big either, so they eventually became friends who occasionally gamed and dined together.
But now, their friendship was plummeting.
“If you hadn’t called Lin Nan to look for you, she wouldn’t have fallen!” Chen Yao grumbled at Zheng Qian while glancing at the limping Lin Nan and quickly reaching out to support her.
Who knew Lin Nan was dizzy today?
Zheng Qian ignored Chen Yao and sincerely asked Lin Nan, “Are you still dizzy? Do you want to go to the hospital for a check-up?”
“No need, I’ll be fine in a bit.”
The two of them continued bickering all the way to the infirmary on the first floor of the teaching building, finally halting their verbal sparring at the door.
After a walk, Lin Nan’s dizziness had improved somewhat.
After the middle-aged doctor cleaned her scraped palm and knee and slapped on some antiseptic, he practically shooed Lin Nan away after collecting a small fee.
Honestly, Lin Nan felt that making such a fuss over a simple scrape was unnecessary.
But Zheng Qian was probably using this as an excuse to spend some alone time with her.
Caught between the two, Lin Nan suspected this might just be what they call a Shura field?
Emerging from the infirmary with a heart full of despair, she glanced up at the two of them and, before they could say much, she quickly said, “I can go back and change my pants by myself, so you two just go back to whatever you were doing. Don’t follow me…”
“And hey, Counselor, you don’t happen to have a spare key, do you?” Lin Nan looked at Zheng Qian.
At this, Chen Yao’s eyes toward Zheng Qian turned suspicious.
He initially thought Zheng Qian was just a lecher ogling Lin Nan; now he realized he was a full-blown creep!
Zheng Qian awkwardly scratched his nose, clumsily explaining, “I just thought I’d check if my friend left anything behind that night. Plus, I helped keep things tidy for you.”
“Well, you should’ve told me in advance that you had a key.”
“Forgot.” Zheng Qian sheepishly pulled out the key from his pocket and handed it to Lin Nan.
Chen Yao looked genuinely horrified, questioning, “You sure you don’t have any other keys?”
“None, really.” Zheng Qian raised his hands defensively. “My friend lives there with her boyfriend, so there are only two keys.”
“And you should set up a time to meet the landlord again and re-sign the contract, just to avoid the headache of finding someone when it’s time to pay the utilities.”
Lin Nan took the key and tucked it into her pocket, nodding, “Got it.”
Zheng Qian had initially thought about inviting Lin Nan to grab a meal, but after seeing her wary expression and Chen Yao acting as her personal bodyguard, he realized today wasn’t the right day for charm. He reluctantly gave up.
Why did I have to fall for a guy? He’s at least somewhat handsome, and soon he’ll have a master’s degree—he could have any girl he wanted!
Zheng Qian remembered Lin Nan once saying she was a girl, but it didn’t take a genius to figure out that no normal girl would hide out in a boys’ dorm. Plus, he’d seen Lin Nan’s ID—this isn’t decades ago when info was scarce!
Honestly, he preferred to think of Lin Nan as a boyish girl with the heart of a woman.
Just imagining that guy-on-top-of-guy scenario got him a bit thrilled…
As finals approached, Lin Nan was fretting over her final assignments for some specialized classes, and the only option left was to race back to the dorm during lunch for help on her assignments from her roommates.
Surprisingly, Lin Nan, who wasn’t great at memorization initially, found herself brimming with confidence in her cultural courses. After a few days of conjuring magic and enduring dizziness and headaches for half an hour each time, she had mostly memorized the required materials.
It wasn’t guaranteed she’d remember everything during the exam, but at least she felt somewhat secure.
After a week of review, students entered a whole week of prep before finals, and Lin Nan frequently carried her laptop back and forth between the dorm and the rental, hoping to finalize her assignments for her specialized classes.
Perhaps it was just a matter of habit, but Lin Nan, who had felt flustered when she first wore a bra out, slowly grew accustomed to its presence, eventually forgetting that she was wearing an extra layer of clothing… though she still felt a bit shy about it, she could barely accept it now.
Mainly, she no longer experienced painful sensitivity from friction against her chest while walking. Indeed, every item had its reason for being!
As students stepped into exam week—the last week of the semester—Lin Nan was shocked to find that it seemed her developmental phase has wrapped up.
Compared to other girls who took years to develop, she had completed hers in less than a semester with a little help from magic.
