I Don’t Want to Be Turned into a Girl by Magic – Chapter 268

272. Oh My Mom!

==============================

Lin Nan was completely bewildered, her head filled with confusion, struggling to grasp what had just happened.

If the guy in front of her dressed in black was a thief, shouldn’t he just shout “Mom!” and dash off while she was in this dazed state?

Plus, that emotional call had the ring of genuine familiarity, as if he actually thought she was his mother.

But this guy looked like he was at least in his early twenties—so how on earth could he be her son?

Could it be that they used to call each other “Mom” as kids back in the day?

Her thoughts spiraled into chaos, filled with all sorts of bizarre ideas.

Scared out of her wits, Lin Nan took several steps back until her calves bumped into the cold bathtub, and the sudden shock jolted her senses awake.

Could this guy be Lilith’s son, maybe?

“You’ve got the wrong person,” Lin Nan managed to say, still uncertain whether he really was from another world or just some old childhood friend messing with her. She didn’t dare to mention Lilith’s name outright.

“No mistake! Mom! I was wrong, I really was wrong!”

The man was banging his head on the floor so hard it cracked the tiles. Lin Nan’s face turned pale, and she quickly stepped forward to help him up.

What if he broke something? How would she explain that to Grandpa and Grandma?

She glanced at the man’s forehead, noting there was no redness despite the force he used, and his skin was so smooth it looked poreless. Her suspicions began to solidify.

“I’m not Lilith; you’ve mistaken me for someone else.” Lin Nan sighed, realizing she was dealing with a situation similar to the time she first met Li Na.

Having learned from that experience, she casually cast a Purification Magic spell.

Using magic would heighten the magical aura around her, making it easier for people to identify her.

She continued to explain, “Take a close look! My magical energy is different from Lilith’s; it just looks quite similar.”

Lin Nan felt nervous, fearing that after her explanation, the man would explode in anger. She had quietly slipped out of the bathroom to increase the distance between them.

Though, during this time, Lin Nan had looked into Lilith’s memories a bit, especially while searching for magic.

If this guy was indeed Lilith’s son… well, he’d probably be her adopted son, found in a trash can or something.

Yup, literally picked up from a rubbish bin!

She had recalled that memory and compared it to the man in front of her. Yep, he did look exactly like him.

If memory served right, this guy should be called…

“Mom!”

His affectionate shout snapped Lin Nan back from her memory lane journey.

Still in a daze, she exclaimed, “Wait, can’t you tell my magical energy is different from your mom’s?!”

Li Na had figured out Lin Nan wasn’t Lilith when she unlocked new magic. Why wasn’t this method working here?

“I don’t care! You are my mom!”

Lin Nan was taken aback by the excited man, her face going white as she stumbled back a few more steps. But in the process, she accidentally stepped on Cola’s tail, making the poor creature jump and scream.

Cola cursed and scrambled to the corner, glaring disappointedly at his goofy son.

Lin Nan recalled that this “son” didn’t really specialize in magic and was only in his early twenties, somewhat clued-in about magic but not too in-depth.

So she pointed to her own face, saying earnestly, “Look! If I were your mom, I’d have kicked you by now!”

She started explaining all the strange things that had been happening to her recently, finally revealing that she had completely transformed into a girl, and for some inexplicable reason, Lilith’s soul had vanished.

The man hesitated before looking at Lin Nan’s oddly familiar yet foreign face, and suddenly, tears were streaming down his cheeks as he wailed, “Oh my mom! What kind of suffering have you endured to look like this?!”

Oh my heavens…

Lin Nan’s expression darkened, wishing she could just kick him for real.

“Stop crying! If the folks in the backyard hear you, how am I supposed to explain this…?” She found herself at a loss; without Li Na around to help explain, there was no way to smooth this over.

But if he kept crying, they’d surely alert Grandpa and Grandma and that whole side of the family.

Lin Nan could only helplessly concede, “Fine, I’m your mom; just stop crying already.”

She felt that phrase was oddly awkward. If she’d said “I’m your dad,” it would have rolled off her tongue much more easily.

Yet the man continued to bawl. Lin Nan was growing increasingly anxious, fearing her relatives might discover this guy, and in a fit of desperation, she swiftly kicked him.

He toppled over, abruptly cutting off his wailing, wide-eyed and pitifully looking at Lin Nan.

“Get lost! Don’t let anyone else find out about you!”

“I’m going, I’m going!”

Lin Nan watched as he nodded earnestly, only for his body to suddenly meld into the shadows, vanishing without a trace.

She looked around bewildered, unsure if this was some invisibility trick or if her cheap son really did just disappear.

What kind of ridiculous scene was unfolding here? Was he seriously some kind of masochist?

Losing her enthusiasm for a shower, she flopped down dejectedly onto her bed.

If her memory was correct, this unexpected son was named by Lilith herself. Lilith had terrible naming skills, so she had awkwardly called her dumpster-dived son “Little Black.” Later, this guy grew up and actually got a real name—Kang De.

But how on earth did this happen to her? She had just barely started dating someone, and now she magically had a son?

A daughter would have been more acceptable!

“Hey, did I just hear someone crying?”

Liu Xinyi pushed the door open, curiously inquiring.

“Oops, I accidentally turned up the volume on my TikTok,” Lin Nan replied, her face unchanging.

“Oh, is that so? I also heard something about a mom…”

“All part of a reunion story; the poor kid’s son was abducted years ago, and now they’re finally reuniting!”

Liu Xinyi bought it, offering Lin Nan a nicely baked blackened sweet potato. The burnt bit didn’t matter since they’d have to peel off the hard shell anyway to eat it.

Watching Lin Nan take it, she began to mock Wu Jiaming, “You wouldn’t believe it; our cousin is so clumsy, he knocked over the fire pit we painstakingly set up, and now they’re thinking about switching to frying skewers instead.”

“Uh-huh.” Lin Nan nodded, feeling utterly jaded as she sat on the bed, leaning over the trash can to break apart the sweet potato.

“I’ll come call you when the frying’s done; I’ll also boil some noodles!”

“Go on ahead,” she said.

Liu Xinyi eyed Lin Nan’s expressionless face, noticing her exhausted demeanor and couldn’t help but worry, “What’s wrong? Did your boyfriend break up with you?”

Lin Nan shoved the sweet potato into Liu Xinyi’s mouth with no regard, “If you can’t talk sense, just zip it!”
