305. The Gradually Distorted Smile【19/122】
==============================
While Lin Nan and Chen Yao were engrossed in a movie…
At the backdoor of the school, in the rental apartment rented by Li Na, a clueless n*ked washing board suddenly opened her eyes.
She stared at the mottled ceiling in silence, her mind blank as world-shattering questions popped up.
Who am I? Where am I? What am I doing?
Her head throbbed, and her body felt utterly uncooperative, as if her soul had left her body, or like she was experiencing sleep paralysis—fully aware but unable to move a muscle.
Could it be… the aftereffects of anesthesia?
With fox-like eyes similar to Lin Nan, she frowned tightly, utterly bewildered by her current situation.
Where’s Lin Nan? Where’s Lina? Where did my godson go?
She tried to move her head to look around, but her entire body was frozen in place, with only her eyes able to flicker about.
Have I really been… neutered?
“Lin Nan! I will not rest until I find you!”
Her mind roared in anger, but an overwhelming sense of dread began to engulf her, making her eyes dart with panic as she desperately tried to move her body and head, attempting to confirm if she had in fact been neutered.
Finally, it seemed like a nerve connected with her brain, and she could move her neck.
She controlled her muscles to shift her gaze to the side, where she saw a girl standing next to her, grinning widely.
This smile resembled that of a sleazy uncle on the street or a train pervert.
“Awake, are we? The surgery was a success!” Li Na leaned in slightly, her lips curving upward uncontrollably. “How are you feeling?”
“……” Her body was still hard to control, to the point where she couldn’t even speak. After a moment’s struggle, all she managed was, “Meow.”
“Lilith, you can talk now!”
“I…” The moment she uttered a word, Lilith was dumbfounded. She looked down to see her familiar black fur had vanished, replaced by the all-too-familiar airport runway—her fair skin, long limbs, and those almost perfect long legs.
This was a body identical to her previous one.
She gaped at her own body, feeling unexpectedly devoid of joy.
In fact, there was a sense of ominous foreboding.
Lilith let out a regretful sigh: “I’ve been a cat for half a year, with so many harems to explore, and yet… I haven’t tried any of them…”
Li Na’s previously uplifting smile suddenly faltered. She didn’t quite comprehend Lilith’s words.
Or rather, she was unsure if she understood what Lilith meant.
In Li Na’s eyes, although Lilith was a witch, she was pure and virtuous, a girl led astray by ill-intentioned people, and her impression of Lilith was still frozen in childhood.
Moreover, since even the saintess was supposed to remain chaste, surely a witch should be the same, right?
She sighed softly, suddenly leaning forward, reaching out to touch Lilith.
However, Lilith saw this and her eyes widened in alarm. A strong sense of danger buzzed in her brain, and her limbs obeyed instinctually.
Without hesitation, she grabbed the blanket, wrapped it around herself, and swiftly kick-stepped backward, eventually curling up in a corner, trembling as she glared at Li Na, who had just climbed onto the bed.
“I’m telling you! Don’t come any closer! Or I’ll use magic!” she threatened with a fierce tone. “I’m not afraid of you! It’s not like I haven’t fought you before! You can’t take me on!”
Li Na looked at Lilith’s current demeanor, her lips twitching into a manic smile that seemed to be bordering on insanity.
“But you don’t have any magic left,” Li Na retorted, pulling a gigantic cucumber from her pocket.
“Let me replenish your magic!”
Gleefully, she crawled onto the bed, quickly moving toward Lilith.
Even when she had become a cat, Lilith had never felt so hopeless. She shivered under the blanket, her limbs trembling uncontrollably, tears about to spill.
“Get away!”
Once a powerful witch, reduced to a cat chased around by wild dogs, she had even starved for days, walking from the town to the village searching for Lin Nan’s figure.
Yet now, she would rather remain a cat!
Without magic, and trapped in this flimsy new body, Lilith couldn’t think of a single way to stop Li Na’s advance. Frustrated and scared, she reverted to a crying little girl, throwing anything she could find.
“Go away! Go away!”
She kicked and flailed at Li Na, trying to repel the looming threat of her approach.
Eventually, Li Na laid her body down, inching ever closer. Lilith could even feel her breath hot against her neck.
Lilith’s eyes widened as she saw Li Na pull out from under her skirt… a Doubliss sausage.
“How about trying this instead?”
Fear from the deranged threat, coupled with her grievances about losing her magic, and memories of her past splendor, the once-mighty witch couldn’t hold back her tears.
“You’re bullying me!” she sobbed, surrendering her resistance, “I want to d*e!”
Li Na beamed at Lilith, “See? My dear friend refuses to break! So pure!”
“Hehehe~” Her smile twisted to an extent that could only be described as bizarre as she shoved the cucumber into Lilith’s mouth.
Lilith wore an expression that screamed “This is all wrong,” with tears streaming down her cheeks, blankly sucking on the cucumber.
“Eat up.”
“……”
Li Na knelt on the bed, peeling the sausage, biting into it and curiously asking: “Why are you sucking on that?”
“Ah?”
“This body’s been dead for a while and I’ve modified it, you need to eat some fruit to replenish vitamins… Is it called vitamins?” She bit into the sausage again. “You don’t like cucumbers with sugar dipped, do you?”
“???”
Lilith was bewildered, forcing her tears back, and took a big bite of the cucumber, chewed while maintaining a puzzled gaze at Li Na.
“You need to eat more now—vitamins A, B, C, carbohydrates, starch, protein, the works.”
Li Na, having spent so much time here, rambled off a list of terms that Lilith had never heard before.
“Finish the cucumber, then the sausage; once that’s done, there’s beef simmering in the pot. I’ll run downstairs to grab you some fried rice; a bit of greasy food seems beneficial,” Li Na pulled another sausage from her pocket and tossed it beside Lilith. “I’ll bring you some clothes when I go back to the dorm. Just hide under the covers; don’t let your son see you n*ked.”
“If he dares look at me, I’ll gouge his eyes out!” Lilith growled, ferociously biting into the cucumber, her fierce gaze completely contrasting with her earlier pitiful appearance, as if she were using the cucumber to take out her frustrations on Li Na.
“By the way, I remember you didn’t have a chest, so this body doesn’t either,” Li Na said with a grin. “Once you regain your magic, you can change it to whatever size you prefer.”
At this point, Lilith’s fierce expression faltered again.
Without her magic, the greater possibility was that she would be killed again upon returning to her world.
Li Na tilted her head and gently patted her shoulder. Lilith froze up in fear, expecting yet another perverse advance.
“Don’t worry, I’ll protect you!”
Li Na spoke earnestly, “We’ve been best friends since childhood.”
“……”
Lilith felt more like she was looking at a creepy uncle who had a lollipop ready to lure her home.
