336. Evening Dress
==============================
After snapping a dozen photos from various angles, Li Na finally nodded in satisfaction, happily flipping through the pictures on the camera.
Lin Nan let out a long sigh; finally, it was over.
Though the beautiful dress was indeed her cup of tea, she couldn’t quite accept the short skirt and black stockings look. And the fact that Li Na had taken her pictures could mean they’d be used for promotional purposes to be shown to people in another world…
How embarrassing…
She weakly leaned against the wall.
No wonder Li Na was reluctant to wear it; turns out it was meant for promotional posters.
And then it might even end up in a fashion magazine…
Having Lilith’s memories, she knew that the civilization in that other world was roughly equivalent to the Middle Ages. Although it had magic and immortal races, the people there were extremely conservative in both thought and dress.
If her photos were to appear in that world, she would probably be regarded as an outcast.
“Don’t worry! You’re going to be the first fashion star in my world!” Li Na patted Lin Nan on the shoulder and cheerfully went to the closet to pull out a backless evening dress. “Come on! We’ve wrapped up the female mage’s outfit, now let’s sh**t the noble lady’s attire!”
Lin Nan’s face darkened; most of these outfits only existed in novels or dramas. In reality, similar wedding dresses were only worn once, and by normal folks—only at weddings.
But they were undeniably gorgeous.
She looked at the dress with a strange expression, then disdainfully glanced at Lilith.
If it weren’t for that brat, she wouldn’t have even liked pretty dresses, even if she turned into a girl.
“If you like it, I’ll give it to you! I bought it for several thousand bucks!” Li Na handed the dress to Lin Nan, grinning as she asked, “Can you wear it? Need some help?”
“No, no!”
Lin Nan hurriedly dashed into the bathroom, frightened.
Lilith got up from the floor, not too hurt; ever since Lin Nan accidentally sent Chen Yao flying, she had quickly learned how to control the force of her Void Hands.
If she got better control in the future, her immense magical power could totally let Lin Nan learn “Ora Ora.”
“This brat! Back when I was a cat, she bullied me every day! And now she keeps at it!” Lilith was fuming, clutching Li Na’s arm with a wronged expression, “I want half your magic! I need to get my revenge!”
“What are you dreaming about? If I give you magic, you’d just end up hitting me!” Li Na wasn’t that naive; she’d been taking advantage of Lilith’s magic-free state before, hadn’t she?
After waiting for what felt like ages, Lin Nan finally hesitantly pushed the bathroom door open.
It was her first time wearing an evening dress, and after a long delay, she managed to put it on with her Void Hands spell.
It was chilly at the back.
And once she donned it, it felt like her bones had turned to jelly; her usual movements were noticeably more delicate.
She felt something was amiss and, leaving the bathroom, dared not look at Li Na and the others, heading straight to the mirror to check her reflection.
Was there a hint of nobility?
She was in a nearly all-black evening gown, simple yet subtle, with dark decorative patterns on the fabric. The dress had no sleeves and was fitted tightly at the front, revealing only skin around her shoulders, while the back exposed most of her snowy white skin to the air.
Turning around, she inspected her exposed back but could only get a vague idea; her face was already crimson.
Before she could say anything, Li Na cheerily chimed in, “You look just like a mini-version of Lilith!”
“She’s talking about atmosphere, I’m nowhere near as pretty.” Lilith scoffed.
Thanks to having Lilith’s memories, Lin Nan’s mannerisms inevitably carried a trace of Lilith’s presence.
“Don’t worry! You’ve been molded by Lilith; even if your face isn’t the prettiest, your body is definitely up to snuff with the masses.” Li Na stepped forward to fix Lin Nan’s hair.
The previous outfit could have hidden her head in a hood, so her hairstyle didn’t matter much. But this gown demanded a higher standard for her hair.
It was Lin Nan’s first time in such attire; she felt a bit flustered, terrified of accidentally ruining the expensive outfit. Standing straight, she stiffly stared at her reflection in the mirror.
Okay, she really was quite pretty.
Her face was a tad too youthful; she’d always been the cute, energetic girl next door. But in this dress, she radiated a bit of a mature charm, bolstered by Lilith’s noble aura, just managing to mask her flaws.
So where did Lilith get that noble aura? Was it a tsundere husky vibe?
“Do you really like black?” Lin Nan bit her lip, staring intently at her reflection.
“Not bad. In my world, black is the color of respect. Only mages and nobles are allowed to wear it, so Lilith and I have been decked out in black clothes our whole lives, while white is usually for the church. After adulthood, I typically wear white clothing.”
She glanced up at Li Na, who was adjusting her hairstyle from behind, and indeed, she realized she rarely saw Li Na wear anything other than white.
Whether it was a long white dress, a sundress, or a short-sleeved shirt paired with light-colored pants.
Lin Nan had never been to a salon for any grooming or styling; she’d let her hair grow wild and free. Now, however, Li Na had plenty of opportunities to work her magic.
Without any tools, she simply went full wizard. Compared to what hairstylists take—taking anywhere from tens of minutes to an hour—Li Na swiftly designed a hairstyle for Lin Nan in just a few minutes.
Her hair itself wasn’t long, but it had clearly been magically lengthened. Now, it was elegantly pinned up at the back, with a silver hairpin embedded with diamonds, resembling an ancient ladies’ hairstyle.
There was a peculiar blend of Western and Eastern styles. Just a change in hairstyle intensified Lin Nan’s noble vibe, exuding an air of grandeur. When she struggled to flatten the upward curve of her lips, an unusual icy beauty began to radiate.
She slightly tilted her head, continuing to admire her reflection as her eyes sparkled with excitement.
“Do I look good?” Lin Nan asked shyly.
“You’re a little bit behind me,” Lilith, clutching a cat, stood nearby with a disdainful look, “Look at you, you rustic babe. It’s not that the dress looks good; if I wore it, I’d totally look much better.”
Though she said that, her eyes couldn’t help but scan Lin Nan from top to bottom, filled with awe.
Li Na remained silent, snapping pictures with the camera.
Lin Nan swallowed hard. Although the camera made her feel a bit awkward, she couldn’t help but let a smile creep onto her lips. She pinched the hem of her dress and gently twirled around. With the skirt swaying, her spirits lifted even higher, and the embarrassment of her exposed back was long forgotten.
How can I look so beautiful!
I really love this gown!
Carefully lifting the hem, she walked back and forth in front of the mirror, unable to suppress her joy.
If I could wear this on my wedding day… Chen Yao, all those relatives and friends at the wedding would be left speechless by my beauty.
Lin Nan, who had never considered marriage before, now found herself unexpectedly longing for a wedding, and more surprisingly, to be the star of that wedding.
