Maybe it was because Lilith had turned her into a girl, but Lin Nan was getting more and more into tormenting others.
If it were Chen Yao or Lin Qi, someone she had a close relationship with, she’d feel a twinge of guilt. But with Tu Junhui, her absolute nuisance friend, all guilt vanished quicker than a magician’s rabbit.
After all, Tu Junhui had a hobby of teasing her relentlessly.
So, right in front of Tu Junhui, Lin Nan placed an order on Chen Yao’s phone.
It was for a massive plus-size dress fit for a 200-pound girl, which Lin Nan thought would look just perfect on Tu Junhui.
Waiting for the delivery would take a few days, but more importantly, she had to prepare Tu Junhui mentally. Meanwhile, this guy, egged on by a group of friends, suddenly raised his hand and declared, “I want the position of school beauty!”
Instantly, the classroom erupted in spirited cheers that resembled a chaotic concert, with students bouncing around as if they’d just won the lottery.
“Yooo!”
“I’m a Photoshop wizard! Don’t forget to send me the pics to edit!”
“Dude, don’t go doing anything stupid!”
“Teacher’s coming!”
The students crowding around Tu Junhui dispersed in a flash, and Lin Nan, sitting at a distance, returned to her spot with disbelief plastered on her face as she stared at Tu Junhui’s chubby cheeks.
Chen Yao genuinely couldn’t comprehend how this guy suddenly decided to cross-dress, while Xiong Da maintained his usual icy demeanor, but obviously buzzed with excitement.
“Is this for real?” Lin Nan thrust Chen Yao’s phone at Tu Junhui. “I’ve already placed the order, don’t back out!”
“Am I the kind of person who doesn’t keep my word?” Tu Junhui puffed out his chest, looking utterly confident.
This is terrifying, right?
Lin Nan had a chilling mental image of Tu Junhui in a spaghetti strap dress flash through her mind, and she shuddered.
Chen Yao gave Tu Junhui a hearty pat on the back. “We were just joking around; don’t take it seriously.”
“I was ALSO joking! d*mn, you can’t be serious, right?” Tu Junhui’s face clouded over; he had only gone along with the teasing.
“But I’ve already ordered it,” Lin Nan said, disappointment written all over her face, thinking she was about to pull the ultimate prank on Tu Junhui.
Tu Junhui quickly snatched back the phone and canceled the order for the dress while grumbling, “DNM! I’m not some weirdo! It’s all fun and games, but you can’t seriously expect me to wear that, right? Just the thought is making me sick!”
He was all bark and no bite—completely oblivious to the concept of matching words with actions.
Lin Nan sighed heavily, feeling let down.
Class time arrived, and the classroom quieted down. Students played on their phones, others diligently took notes, and some were still catching up on sleep after a late night. Quickly, everyone forgot about the pre-class debacle.
Chen Yao was surprisingly attentive, as today’s lesson was crucial; not paying attention could easily lead to final exam failure.
Lin Nan had already memorized the textbook for this class, now resting her chin on one hand while twirling a strand of hair in the other, yawning every so often.
“Lin Nan, I think someone signed you up for something.”
She lifted her head to look at Xiong Da, “What?”
“The school beauty contest!”
“Ah?”
She was dumbfounded as Xiong Da handed her his phone, just as Tu Junhui and Chen Yao leaned in to see.
On the phone screen was the official school website, featuring a special subpage for the contest, currently hosting the school beauty and handsome guy evaluation.
This contest was voluntarily entered, allowing any student to sign up.
But if it wasn’t the person signing up, there were no restrictions at all.
The contest had only been underway for a few days, and the top few contestants were a bunch of unfamiliar girls who looked pretty good—though makeup, filters, and photo editing were making their allure skyrocket.
Scrolling down, Lin Nan found her photo.
“You really signed up?” Chen Yao asked in disbelief, “Aren’t you the one who said you weren’t interested in this stuff?”
“Not interested at all.” Lin Nan nodded.
She hated sharing photos on social media and didn’t want to be in the spotlight, which was why her fleeting idea of live streaming for money was just that—a fleeting thought.
“When did you even take this kind of photo?” Tu Junhui was astounded. “I thought today was the first time you ever wore a dress.”
“Never seen it myself.” Chen Yao frowned.
Lin Nan quickly pieced the mystery together. She sighed and casually liked her own picture.
“This photo is actually quite nice.” Tu Junhui exclaimed. “That dress is short and… ah~ I’m good now.”
Chen Yao slapped him lightly on the head, then glared at the picture of Lin Nan in a black short dress, exposing those long legs while striking a cheeky cute pose that made him feel like a lone sheep in a field of wildflowers.
Lin Nan knew that if she didn’t explain, things could get real messy. With a sigh, she said, “That was Li Na who uploaded that photo. I helped her try on clothes at her place a while back, and that’s when it was taken.”
Seeing such a personal photo online was exceptionally humiliating, and she felt her face burning up almost immediately.
“Hmm?” Chen Yao didn’t doubt her claim; he trusted Lin Nan completely.
“At that time, she mentioned wanting to try out some photoshoots, gave me a few perks, and I agreed to go…” Lin Nan lamented, “Who knew she’d post my picture online!”
Luckily, the photo didn’t seem too outrageous, although the dress was a touch too short; otherwise, it looked pretty much like a regular short skirt.
They had agreed that it was just for her to showcase fashion for another world, and Lin Nan had hardly worried about it.
But now, her pictures were all over the internet.
This particular photo wasn’t too drastic, but what if there were others? Like that evening gown, or the cosplay outfit of that magical wizard… just thinking about it made her cringe with shame.
She flopped her head onto the desk, utterly dispirited. “Next time I see her, I’m definitely going to confront her.”
Chen Yao patted her head in comfort, “This is why you get scammed so easily besides money; next time, just run it by me first.”
“Yeah.” Lin Nan gloomily refreshed her phone, only to discover her photo had suddenly racked up a bunch of votes, skyrocketing her into the top thirty of the school beauty rankings.
Now her mood sank even lower; she returned the phone to Xiong Da and sighed, feeling more down than a deflated balloon.
She genuinely disliked having her photos splashed across the internet.
The mere thought of some guy using her photos for strange purposes made her shiver.
“Alright, what’s done is done; sulking doesn’t help. We need to fix this.” Chen Yao pulled out his phone, “If I report this photo for inappropriate use, it should get deleted!”
“You’re the inappropriate one!” Lin Nan unhesitatingly poked her hand into Chen Yao’s side.
Chen Yao gasped in shock, “I’m doing this for you!”
But before he could explain further, he felt a good squeeze on his squishy side, twisting it just right, which turned his face as pale as a sheet.
Lin Nan finally felt a release of her pent-up frustration. “Report that invasion of privacy! You idiot!”
