**383. Drunk Lilith**
==============================
Lilith seemed to be completely unaware of what it meant to be reserved.
Arriving at Lin Nan’s place, she took a glance around the room, and without any hesitation, grabbed a bottle of pineapple beer from under the coffee table. She didn’t bother asking Lin Nan and just popped the can open and took a sip.
After just a couple of gulps, her brow furrowed, and her face quickly flushed red.
“This drink is so strange,” she looked down at the pineapple beer in her hand and asked Lin Nan, “What is this?”
“Alcohol. It seems like you don’t have this in your world?” Lin Nan had never seen any alcoholic beverages in Lilith’s memories.
Lilith downed the rest of the pineapple beer with a few quick swigs, burped, and before long, her face became a deeper shade of red, and her skin developed a faint pink hue.
Her previously haughty demeanor softened a bit; her straight back relaxed as she leaned back against the couch, hugging the beer can like it was a beloved pet.
Lin Nan suspected she might be allergic to alcohol, otherwise, it seemed impossible for someone to turn into this after just a can of pineapple beer.
Or maybe the bodies of people from other worlds couldn’t metabolize alcohol?
“Drink less, or you’ll end up in trouble…”
Though d*ath didn’t seem like a big deal for Lilith, it would be a bit awkward to d*e in her rental apartment.
But Lilith ignored the advice, casually pulling out the remaining bottles of pineapple beer and cradling them in her arms.
Lin Nan shook her head in resignation and decided to ignore her, getting up to wash the pots and pans that hadn’t been used in a while.
Just as she finished rinsing everything, Chen Yao returned with a big pile of groceries.
“What are we eating today?” Lin Nan asked as she noticed it was afternoon and she was in no hurry for a meal.
“Your favorite cola chicken wings, Lilith wanted steak, some chicken breast for cola, and I also plan to stir-fry some shredded pork with green peppers…” Chen Yao placed the groceries on the coffee table one by one. “I even got a small cabbage, we need some vegetables too.”
The steak he bought was one of those supermarket pre-packaged ones, just around ten bucks a piece—enough to keep Lilith satisfied.
Besides the various ingredients, he also bought a bunch of knives, cutting boards, and seasonings, spending a few hundred since it was his first time cooking seriously.
The rental apartment was quite cramped, with no kitchen or range hood, making it hardly suitable for cooking. Luckily, they had a rather sizeable coffee table, so using an induction cooker worked out just fine.
Chen Yao opened the living room window and turned back to Lin Nan, saying, “You take the cat to the bedroom and play on the computer; the smell of cooking might get pretty strong.”
“Okay.” Lin Nan hugged the cat and got up.
This cat was quite hefty, probably over ten pounds, and possibly even twenty. After just a few minutes on her lap, her legs began to ache. Holding the cat felt like holding a bag of rice, and with Cola squirming around, Lin Nan almost lost the use of her arms.
Struggling to get Cola settled in the bedroom, she returned to the living room, incredulously asking Lilith, “How do you manage to hold that cat every day without letting go?”
Lilith tilted her head back, her face flushed, and didn’t respond, only giving Lin Nan a goofy grin.
Lin Nan had never seen Lilith make such a silly expression in her memories or during their acquaintance.
Chen Yao glanced over and chuckled, “Why do I feel like you two are so alike? You both end up like this when drunk.”
Actually, it’s me who’s like her.
Lin Nan silently countered in her mind but replied, “She’s just mimicking me.”
“Bullsh*t!” Lilith instantly shifted gears, “Clearly, you’re the one copying ME!”
Chen Yao laughed out loud, imagining all sorts of dramatic rivalries and didn’t pay much mind to Lilith’s bluntness, “Take her to the bedroom, don’t bother me while I’m cooking.”
“Did you hear that? Don’t bother my boyfriend while he’s cooking! Otherwise, you won’t get any lunch!”
Lin Nan tugged at her arm and literally dragged her off the couch.
Lilith hurriedly used her other hand to clutch the remaining bottles of pineapple beer to her chest but still dropped one, turning back with a reluctant look at the bottle left behind on the couch.
As she was pulled into the bedroom, she sighed dramatically and plopped down on Lin Nan’s bed, continuing to drink her pineapple beer.
Lin Nan figured this girl might have an inner alcoholic waiting to burst free.
She glanced over at the beer-drinking Lilith, sat on the bed, and opened Chen Yao’s computer to find something to watch, casually checking if Chen Yao had downloaded any ridiculous movies while hiding them from her.
But based on how to tell good from bad works, if Chen Yao was still breathing, it’d be surprising if there was anything weird on the computer.
Lin Nan had just finished one episode of an anime when she turned back to find Lilith sprawled across her bed, lying in a ‘big character’ pose, looking hazy and confused while hugging a blanket like it was her best friend.
She didn’t even notice her top had ridden up, exposing a good portion of her creamy skin, her body enveloped in a rosy glow, breathing heavily, with her long, fair legs tangled up with the blanket, seemingly lost in a daze.
Lin Nan’s expression darkened.
Outside, her boyfriend was still cooking, but in the bedroom, there was another woman in a rather suggestive position…
Without hesitation, she grabbed a book from the desk and threw it at Lilith, but Lilith just rolled over and narrowly dodged the impending knowledge attack.
“Either go to sleep or behave!” she barked at Lilith with a fierce glare.
“Burp?” Lilith, looking oblivious, started patting her stomach, even getting into the rhythm of it.
However, Lin Nan’s shout caught Chen Yao’s attention, and he peeked into the room, asking, “What’s going on?”
“Nothing! Get back to cooking!”
Chen Yao scanned the room and caught sight of Lilith’s alluring behavior on the bed. He paused for a moment but didn’t linger, ducking his head back out of the bedroom.
Even though a man’s thirst for something tantalizing might be a common flaw, his survival instincts were definitely stronger.
Lin Nan squinted at Chen Yao as he left, then turned her attention back to Lilith on the bed, who seemed to have composed herself, sitting cross-legged with a calm demeanor. If it weren’t for the blush still lingering on her skin, Lin Nan wouldn’t have guessed she had chugged several cans of beer earlier.
She suspected Lilith was simply trying to sabotage her relationship with Chen Yao using her drunken antics.
That girl seemed harmless under Li Na’s **influence**, but in reality, she was a wild, party-loving witch.
“I really think you’re asking for trouble,” Lin Nan said gently.
Lilith looked up at her, still looking a bit dazed, then suddenly flopped back onto the bed. In just a moment, heavy snores began to escape from her mouth.
Lin Nan’s kind smile froze; she couldn’t quite figure out if Lilith was genuinely drunk or just playing some sort of game.
