469. A Magic Wand, Perhaps? 【13/60】

“Uh-oh, something’s going down?”
Lin Nan stared in confusion as her classmates excitedly rushed out of the classroom. She turned to Chen Yao, who was seated next to her, for some insight.
“Are they fighting downstairs or something?” She just couldn’t comprehend what could get everyone so riled up.
“Beats me,” Chen Yao said, frowning as he looked up from his book. Without giving it much thought, he closed the book. “I’m going to check it out. You in?”
“Hard pass. I’m not a fan of chaos.”
Lin Nan yawned and lay her head down on the desk. Even though she was curious about what was happening, she had woken up half an hour late and was just too exhausted to care about anyone else’s drama.
Honestly, she’d rather catch a nap in class.
With about ten minutes before class started, the teacher had already arrived, sitting at the podium organizing lesson plans and paperwork.
That teacher was just as curious about the commotion outside, popping her head out to glance down the hallway now and then. However, she was constrained by her teacherly dignity and resorted to admonishing the students, “Get back inside! Class is about to start!”
When her reprimand got no response, the teacher finally had a valid excuse to join the fray, standing up with a furrowed brow and striding toward the corridor, her steps a bit frantic as she shouted, “Make some room for me! I want to see! Are there fights or what?!”
With about seventy percent of the class gone, the remaining students were either glued to their phones or, like Lin Nan, dozing off. A few shy ones were fidgeting nervously.
Chen Yao finally squeezed his way to the railing in the hallway and followed the direction of the crowd’s gaze, spotting two gorgeous girls in front of the teaching building—looked like a heartfelt confession was happening!
It was the middle of class time, so the throngs of students milling about were inherently curious, and that confession quickly attracted a large crowd of idle onlookers.
“Get together! Get together!”
Whoever started that chant, it caught on like wildfire, and students began to cheer, some even whipped out their phones to film the two girls below.
Chen Yao was just about to join in the ruckus when he suddenly froze, his eyes landing on the girl in the black spaghetti strap dress.
Hold up! Isn’t that Lilith and Li Na?
It took a moment for him to realize who the two chicks were.
This is Li Na confessing to Lilith?
He was dumbfounded. Glancing at the bouquet Li Na was holding, he scratched his head and suddenly felt a pang of regret for that time he had blurted out his feelings to Lin Nan without a proper setup.
He should have brought a bouquet too!
But even though the scene looked pretty romantic with all the cheering, poor Lilith appeared completely startled and was awkwardly stepping back.
Looks like Lilith really isn’t interested in Li Na after all.
Chen Yao couldn’t help but click his tongue in amazement. Back in high school, he’d seen his fair share of yuri couples, but he’d never witnessed a public confession before.
If Lin Nan were to be publicly confessed to, with her personality, she’d probably flip out right there.
After observing for a few minutes, Lilith suddenly broke through the crowd and dashed off campus, causing the uproar to halt momentarily, replaced by a flurry of excited chatter.
Seeing that the show was over, Chen Yao returned to the classroom and plopped back down next to Lin Nan.
“What happened?” Lin Nan turned her head, squinting at him.
“Li Na confessed to Lilith.”
Her eyes widened in surprise. “No way! Is that for real? And I missed it!”
“There’s already a video on the school forum; you can check it out.” Chen Yao opened the app and, sure enough, a bunch of confession videos were already up.
The school forum was always buzzing; any action around campus was bound to end up online.
Lin Nan couldn’t believe Li Na would confess at a time like this… Speaking of which, had they really not confessed privately after living together for so long?
As she scrolled through the videos, Lin Nan gushed, “How sweet! My inner teenage girl is bursting! Li Na even used magic to make the flowers appear—so romantic! Lilith might just say yes!”
Chen Yao smirked, “Nah, I can totally see you getting all flustered and then kicking her aside, leaving her with a shattered femur.”
He knew Lin Nan’s personality too well.
But Lin Nan vehemently denied, “There’s no way I’d be that violent!”
As soon as she said it, though, she felt a bit guilty and fell silent, resuming her video watching.
When she saw Lilith turn and bolt, she couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed and put her phone down. “Why’d she have to run away? That’s so unlike her!”
“Maybe she’s just conflicted?” Chen Yao also found it puzzling.
Given Lilith’s usual demeanor, she’d typically refuse Li Na without a second thought and might even throw in some snarky remarks for good measure.
Could it be that Lilith actually has some feelings for Li Na?
While he pondered this, a voice suddenly called out from outside, “Lin Nan.”
She looked up to see Li Na, the star of the earlier video, looking somewhat forlorn.
“I’m stepping out,” Lin Nan said, practically bouncing out of class to join Li Na.
Li Na stared at Lin Nan with a melancholic expression, letting out a long sigh.
“You were too hasty,” Lin Nan quickly tried to comfort her. “If you waited a few more years, she might agree!”
“It’s too late! She’s already flirting with guys! If I don’t act fast, she’ll be tainted by trashy men like you!” Li Na leaned against the corridor railing, arms crossed, grumbling, “What’s so great about those filthy men? She’s doing this just to mess with me!”
Lin Nan couldn’t help but chime in, “What do you mean ‘tainted’?!”
“Isn’t it true?” Li Na shot her a look before pulling out her phone and showing Lin Nan a webpage. With a furrowed brow, she asked, “I followed all the online tutorials to the letter; why isn’t it working out? The script doesn’t match! And it’s totally not Lilith’s style!”
“Maybe she’s just not into you at all?” Lin Nan ventured cautiously, “Doesn’t she always call you a yuri freak?”
To be fair, Li Na had done some pretty eccentric things to Lilith back when they were kids. Lin Nan figured if she had also encountered someone like that during her upbringing, it might’ve caused her to develop a slight case of gynephobia too.
“You don’t get it! She likes me!”
“Well…” Lin Nan pondered for a moment, “She didn’t outright reject you. How about you take her out for a candlelight dinner and confess again privately?”
She faintly recalled Chen Yao setting up a candlelit dinner for her once.
She was so pleased she nearly gave him a kiss!
“Or gift her something? But Lilith’s not a flower girl.” Lin Nan rummaged through her memories of Lilith. “She likes…”
Does she just like wild parties?
“Hmm?”
Lin Nan fell silent, and after a long pause, she suggested, “How about a magic wand?”
