472. The Gift【14/60】
==============================
“Whatever you do, don’t open this before giving it to Lilith.”
Lin Nan held an umbrella with one hand and passed Li Na a square package with the other, adding seriously, “And don’t say I was the one who sent it.”
Li Na shook the package, listening to the sounds of whatever was inside rattling around, puzzled by Lin Nan’s vigilance.
“Did you seal a demon inside it or something?”
Lin Nan nodded gravely, “You could say that! A very scary demon! Just looking at the picture made my heart race and my hands tremble. I couldn’t even bear to look directly at it!”
Li Na stiffened up immediately and asked seriously, “Is it something unspeakable?”
“More or less.”
“Then wouldn’t giving it to Lilith be harming her?” Li Na furrowed her brows. “And where did you even get something like this?”
“This thing isn’t dangerous, it’s just…” Lin Nan struggled to find the right words and, after a moment, carefully described it as, “A bit scary?”
Her cheeks flushed slightly. If Chen Yao hadn’t gotten this thing, she wouldn’t have shamelessly come to persuade Li Na.
She couldn’t stand this kind of toy, but Chen Yao had been all about it since a week ago, going on and on about it until he finally bought it without asking her.
“I’m sure Lilith will love it!” Lin Nan said decisively. “Even if it’s a demon, she’s a witch, it makes total sense!”
Li Na thought Lin Nan was acting really strange today—clearly trying to pull a fast one, but her face was getting red, almost as if she felt a bit ashamed.
Is it something embarrassing?
Her brows furrowed even deeper.
“I’d better head back; Chen Yao is waiting for me for lunch.” Lin Nan felt like she was running out of excuses and decided it was time to leave.
She couldn’t help but wonder how Lilith would react to this thing; maybe she’d be happy to have a substitute for her nightly escapades?
But she was worried Li Na might explode with anger.
After taking a couple of steps, she cautiously turned back to remind Li Na, “If she gets mad, don’t blame me, or you can give it back to me right now!”
“Why would I be mad?” Li Na thought Lin Nan’s behavior was getting weirder. She glanced down at the package, her curiosity overshadowing her sense, and nodded, assuring her, “Don’t worry, I won’t be mad.”
“Just don’t open it before giving it to Lilith!”
“Okay, got it.”
Lin Nan held the umbrella, turned, and dashed across the street to the opposite sidewalk, but slipped and stepped right into a puddle, letting out a startled yelp.
Li Na sighed as she watched her leave, muttering to herself, “So mysterious… What could it be?”
“Something revealing, like a super short skirt or a swimsuit?” Li Na didn’t want to think too much and headed back to her rental apartment, package in hand.
Lilith was sitting at the desk in her rental room, a jumbled mess ever since Li Na had confessed to her.
It would be a lie to say she had no feelings for Li Na; after all, they were childhood friends. Even though they’d grown up and drifted apart, she could sense Li Na’s constant concern for her.
Although she teased Li Na by calling her a “yuri pervert,” and they had even had a wild reunion fight… she was still Lilith’s only friend.
Moreover, in these days since her resurrection, she often said she was under house arrest by Li Na, but honestly, it had been the most carefree time she’d had in hundreds of years.
Now, the straightforward Lilith found herself troubled.
The door swung open, and she leapt up from her chair like a startled rabbit, glancing back at Li Na in the doorway, only to quickly feel like she overreacted and sat back down.
“Are you mad?” Li Na asked cautiously.
“Nope,” Lilith replied with a straight face.
“Well, that’s good,” Li Na sighed in relief, conjuring a bouquet of roses with magic and handing them to Lilith, beaming, “You almost ran off without these!”
“I don’t like flowers,” Lilith said, but still accepted the bouquet and put it on the desk.
Seeing her accept the flowers, Li Na was pleased, standing behind her, her delicate fingers brushing through her hair, a hint of lament in her voice, “So, have you rejected me?”
“I’ll think about it,” Lilith supported her cheek with one hand, staring out at the pouring rain, mumbling, “Don’t you think it’s kind of weird for two girls to be together?”
Li Na tilted her head, looking at the back of Lilith’s head, and without hesitation, used magic to turn into a boyish figure just over six feet tall.
“Now it’s not weird at all!” she said proudly, hands on her hips. “Now it’s a boy and a girl!”
Lilith turned to give her a glare, “You’re not planning to see yourself as a man forever, are you?”
“Not at all! I just like you, that’s all!”
Upon hearing this, Lilith felt a chill run down her spine.
She actually didn’t mind yuri things…
But the problem was!
Suddenly barging in while she was taking a shower! Peeping when she was in the bathroom! No matter what she did, it felt like there was always a pair of eyes using magic to spy on her! Her underwear mysteriously disappearing! No matter where she was, she would wake up to find Li Na had somehow turned into a pillow! And occasionally, she’d even catch Li Na licking her own face!
This is just straight-up perverted behavior! Who wouldn’t have psychological trauma after experiences like that?
Running away from a traditional path to become a witch? Li Na shares at least half the responsibility!
Childhood drama was in the past, and after spending over half a year with Li Na, she had to admit this girl had learned some restraint and wasn’t as perverted as before, which she could just about tolerate.
Lilith turned to look at Li Na and noticed the possessive gaze in her eyes, as if she wanted to swallow her whole.
The psychological shadow loomed over her again, making her shiver. She forced a smile and said, “Let me think about it some more.”
Li Na huffed, sounding rather unhappy, then suddenly remembered Lin Nan’s words that Lilith would absolutely love the gift.
Though Lin Nan described it as possibly a bit scary, it was worth a shot.
So she rushed back to grab the package she had tossed carelessly on her bed, tearing it open as she called out to Lilith, “I bought you a gift! You’re definitely going to love it!”
Lin Nan said you’d love it!
Curious, Lilith turned to look at Li Na, who pulled out a lifelike toy from the box.
Li Na’s face turned beet red in an instant, and Lilith froze, memories of being harassed by the pervert flooding back.
I was wrong, Li Na has not become normal; she’s gotten even weirder!
“T-this!” Li Na fumbled and dropped the toy on the floor, hurriedly explaining, “I didn’t know it was this kind of thing!”
“……”
The look in Lilith’s eyes pierced Li Na, and she felt a wave of disappointment wash over her.
