Chapter 540

### Chapter 12: Alienated Beasts

“Senpai White Paint, it’s a Star Eclipse aura!”

Night Lan hastened to alert her.

White Paint naturally noticed this bizarre creature. Her expression quickly shifted from a smile to ice-cold, like a salesperson going into full sales mode.

“I see.”

It wasn’t just her; all the passengers in the train could see it too.

This creature seemed not entirely a Star Eclipse, but something that regular folks could easily observe—a freakshow, really.

The appearance of this huge creature instantly caused panic among many passengers inside.

That giant thing looked extremely dangerous; if it attacked the train, there was a real risk of life. It was impossible not to feel scared.

Cai Xun and Bu Jie sprang into action.

“I’ll stabilize the situation first. White Paint, Bu Jie, figure out how to deal with this monster.”

Cai Xun activated his Star, transforming his arm into flipping pages of a book.

From within came a white sheet of paper, branded with his thought in black ink.

As the pages scattered, everyone’s minds were filled with a single idea:

“Don’t panic, don’t be afraid. The law enforcers will handle everything. Nobody will get hurt; just sit quietly in your seats.”

With that thought, everyone’s minds settled down, no longer in a frenzy.

Under Cai Xun’s Star influence, the train calmed down initially.

White Paint glanced out the window. The bizarre creature had retreated back beneath the sea, its dorsal fin alone sticking out and swimming toward the train.

Even though the train was moving fast, the creature’s speed through water was incredible—soon, it’d likely collide with the train.

White Paint couldn’t underestimate it.

Since it carried Star Eclipse vibes, it might have similar powers—able to wreck the train if provoked.

White Paint and Bu Jie rushed out of the car.

Moments later, they found themselves in the non-passenger compartment.

There, a door opened, offering an emergency exit.

But to their surprise, a stranger was already there.

It was a grey-haired girl in a black butler outfit, holding a weird gray weapon. From her vibe, she wasn’t an ordinary human—they sensed she was one of the Star Holders.

Before White Paint could ask who she was, the grey-haired maiden cut in.

“Who are you? Introduce yourself in five seconds.”

“Guardian Night Watcher White Paint.”

Not a chatterbox by nature, White Paint appeared frosty to strangers.

Seeing White Paint’s calmness, the grey-haired girl relaxed slightly, her guard lowering.

“My name is Mu Ling; we can talk more after dealing with this. Ready to attack?”

“My Star can control icy blasts.”

“I’ll back you up; you go on the offensive.”

“Yeah.”

Knowing White Paint was also a Guardian, she dropped the formalities and prepared to fight alongside her.

Now, our two heroes stood atop the last carriage. Both were eyeing the same direction.

The shark-like creature was closing in rapidly on the train, possibly catching up soon.

This kind of speed exceeded normal beasts.

White Paint unleashed her Star, gripping an icy sword with chilling cold energy.

No need for battle strategy—experienced Guardians adapt on the fly.

White Paint was set as primary force.

“Brrr.”

With a flash of cold, the undulating seas froze immediately into solid ice.

Yet the creature’s movement seemed unaffected.

It dived swiftly, out of sight.

White Paint clutched the icy sword, nerves taut, keeping watch around.

The sea still waved unnervingly, yet no immediate threat showed.

However, both senses danger lurking beneath—

a calm before the storm.

Beneath the surface, the creature increased its speed dramatically and burst upward violently.

Boom!

It flew upwards, its path curving down sharply, enough to hit several carriages.

If it struck, casualties would be unavoidable.

Then Mu Ling acted.

“Pseudo Time Stop.”

Mystical powers spread immediately.

In mid-air, droplets and the massive beast momentarily halted.

But closer inspection revealed a slow descent—like time itself had been decelerated.

Called it “time stop,” but more like a localized freeze.

White Paint didn’t waste time being amazed. She kept attacking.

“Icy Punishment.”

She pointed her icy sword at the creature, surrounding water freezing instantly into sharp ice spears speeding towards it.

The spears were affected by star powers, suspending mid-air.

Without further ado, she generated and directed more ice spears, sealing off every escape route around the creature.

Once done, Mu Ling released her Star power.

Time resumed normal flow.

Suddenly, numerous prepared ice spears thrust forward, colliding brutally with the descending creature.

Splat!

The creature’s skin ripped under the giant ice spear, revealing bloody flesh, spilling red bl**d.

The train moved away, the beast sinking into the sea, staining a large area.

White Paint and Mu Ling could sense the creature’s life force dissipate; simultaneously, they let out a breath of relief.

“Phew…”

White Paint scanned the surrounding sea, not relaxing just yet.

“Was that what I think it was?” she asked the other Guardian, curious about the creature.

“What was that? It’s fleshy, bleeds—it isn’t a Star Eclipse Embodiment.”

Mu Ling nodded.

“It was a normal ocean creature, but Star Eclipse tainted it, turning it into a formidable creature. Pretty bad.”

“Are there others like that nearby?”

“Not many. The Night Watcher Base in Pinghai City churns out mass-produced stars—Dusk Jellyfish—to patrol these waters, eliminating those carrying Star Eclipse. Probably a fluke bringing down that big lad.”

White Paint slowly relaxed.

Though the creature they faced wasn’t overwhelmingly strong, more like it could cause an oceanic disaster.

Star Eclipses could pollute sea creatures and drive mutations. Scary stuff.

If they didn’t stop the Star Eclipse, oceans could face severe disruptions.

Predators in the sea might struggle to keep up with such beasts.

Until stronger predators themselves mutated.
