516. Lin Nan’s Plan

Even though this group trip had Lin Nan being a bit unruly, poking fun at him left and right, Zheng Qian figured it was just the usual playful banter between students and their counselor.
Besides, ever since that time Lin Nan asked him for permission to stay out overnight, he couldn’t shake this warm fuzzy feeling for her deep down.
Even now, with a “girlfriend,” Zheng Qian claimed he had no extra thoughts about Lin Nan. But every time he saw her dazzlingly beautiful smile, his heart did an enthusiastic drumroll.
But bungee jumping?
He stared blankly at Lin Nan, his mind swirling with question marks: “You want to go bungee jumping?”
“Why not? I’ve never seen it before!” Lin Nan beamed, “Since we’re here, even if the others don’t want to jump, we should at least check it out!”
Zheng Qian certainly knew there was a bungee jumping spot at this attraction, but not only did it seem excessively thrilling, it also cost an arm and a leg.
Each student was pitching in three hundred bucks, but with the return trip, four meals, and entrance fees, he had serious doubts about whether that money would even be enough.
And if they went to the bungee place, surely they wouldn’t let the kids walk there, right? They’d have to take a cable car, which would cost more.
If the budget went bust, would he collect extra cash from the students afterward?
“No way!” Even though Lin Nan was smiling like a goddess, Zheng Qian turned away from her. After a moment of hesitation, he chose to decline.
Lin Nan pouted, looking almost pitiful.
“You’re not getting away with that cute act! I’ve seen your tricks before,” Zheng Qian scoffed. “You used this same tactic when asking for that overnight stay.”
Back then, it wasn’t just being cute; it was “charm” magic, or to put it plainly, seduction.
Mentioning that made Lin Nan feel a bit guilty. It was her little dirty secret, and now that she had a boyfriend, if Zheng Qian mentioned it to Chen Yao, things would get explosive.
She wondered if the mental control magic unlocked later still had any effect on him after the charm trick.
But she dropped the subject and asked, “So when are we heading back tomorrow?”
“After lunch.”
“So that means we have free time in the morning?”
“Yeah, free activities in the morning.” Zheng Qian glanced over at the tents nearby, where the sounds of snoring were like an orchestra. “Probably they’ll start waking up around nine or ten.”
Lin Nan nodded thoughtfully.
So, if they left in the morning, went to check out the bungee site, they’d definitely make it back by noon.
However, Zheng Qian saw right through Lin Nan’s little scheme and sneered: “But you’re not allowed to leave this mountaintop. Roll call every half an hour, and if you’re not there, I’ll revoke your overnight permit and stick you in the girls’ dorm!”
It wasn’t personal; he had to prioritize the students’ safety. There was no way he could let them roam freely.
“No way! Why does it have to be like this? We finally made it here, so what’s the harm in seeing some bungee jumping?” Lin Nan’s earlier sunshine smile vanished, replaced with a fierce glare at him.
Zheng Qian sprawled out on the lawn, yawned, and propped up his leg, looking like he couldn’t care less. His attitude was pretty infuriating.

Lin Nan’s eyes glimmered faintly red as she looked at Zheng Qian and said, “Look at me!”
“What now?” Zheng Qian lifted his head slightly but immediately froze at the sight of her glowing red eyes.
Looks like charm and mental control magic didn’t conflict!
Feeling a bit reassured, Lin Nan was about to speak when Zheng Qian flipped onto his feet, eyes wide with surprise: “Whoa, those colored lenses can glow now?”
“???”
“I thought those glowing eye cosplays online were all edited!” Zheng Qian marveled, “Do you do cosplay too?”
He figured Lin Nan was just showing off some glowing contacts, so he generously complimented, “Looks great! But wearing those out at night might scare people, so hurry up and get some sleep.”
Lin Nan was dumbfounded.
So the two magics really did collide!
She cut off her magic, looking utterly dejected. Poor thing thought she had succeeded when Zheng Qian was stunned.
Turns out, he was just spooked by her glowing eyes!
Feeling utterly defeated, Lin Nan had no more tricks up her sleeve.
Just then, a tent zipped open, and the duo turned to see Tu Junhui, who had passed out drunk earlier, stumbling out.
He had gone to bed early and now, suffering from a pounding headache from too much booze, had only managed a few hours of sleep before waking up.
“You two still awake?” Tu Junhui yawned, eyeing the pair seated on the lawn. He raised an eyebrow, suddenly smirking, “What are you two up to… sneaking off?”
Lin Nan immediately tossed her sandal at him, making him duck in a hurry.
With that opening line, it was clear he was about to be a nuisance!
“Bring my shoe back!”
“You threw it, you get it!” Tu Junhui scampered off toward the nearby restroom.
Lin Nan felt she had no options left, hopping on one foot after her lost shoe.
But seeing Tu Junhui gave her another idea.
The group pressure tactic!
After putting her shoe back on, she marched straight toward the restroom, waiting for Tu Junhui to emerge.
In no time, the big guy came out, yawning and clutching his head.
“What’s up?” He stopped when he saw Lin Nan waiting.
She got a bit closer, about to say something, but he stepped back two paces, looking terrified, “Hey! I’m a decent guy! No touching your friend’s wife!”
A certain inappropriate comment rolled around in her head, but Lin Nan held it back, keeping her expression calm while breathing in to squash her anger. She cut to the chase: “Did you know there’s bungee jumping here?”
“Bungee jumping?” Tu Junhui blinked, excitement spreading across his face, “You mean we’re going bungee jumping tomorrow?”
This guy was fearless!
“But Zheng Qian said we’re leaving in the afternoon and that we can do what we want in the morning, so he won’t take us…”
“Oh, you wanna go, but are worried about getting scolded for sneaking off two people? Want to bring more along?”
Lin Nan had initially thought about rallying up a few more interested students for the bungee jumping, but this idea was not bad either—safety in numbers!
She nodded vigorously, “Let’s get a group of ten or so! Zheng Qian for sure won’t fuss if there are a lot of us!”
Tu Junhui rubbed his hands together, thrilled with Lin Nan’s plan: “I’ll message everyone in the group chat. How’s tomorrow at nine for those who want to bungee jump?”
“I think that’s perfect!”
That way, if anything happened, he could take the fall.
“And tonight you can sneak off with Zheng Qian…”
Lin Nan’s foot kicked out, but Tu Junhui, being the agile heavyset guy he was, sidestepped it, still grinning as he taunted, “I swear I won’t tell Chen Yao!”
