593. Uncle

So she officially turned nineteen!

“Uncle Liu is on a business trip, and his daughter has come back.”

“Isn’t it just to make sure you have company in your old age? I thought Uncle Liu and you had a fallout!” Lin Nan boldly pushed her mother’s hand away and rubbed her own cheek; even though she hadn’t applied much pressure, it still hurt a bit.
Her mother shot her a glare: “Do you need to worry about my affairs?”
Isn’t that so! If I don’t worry, who will? Grandpa? He’s so old; how could I bother that old man?
Lin Nan argued resolutely in her mind, but didn’t verbalize it.
Back in her room, after settling Lemon and changing into her outing clothes, Lin Nan returned to the living room.
“I’ve already set up the meeting with Liu Ying for you at the People’s Square,” her mother said as soon as she saw Lin Nan come out. “Your Uncle and I will be waiting for you at the KFC nearby.”
“Got it.”
Looks like her mother is eager to meet Uncle Liu.
Lin Nan didn’t want to let her mother down; she nodded earnestly and then walked out of the house first.
Why wouldn’t Liu Ying want her mother and Uncle to get married?
Lin Nan could understand this issue; if she were in Liu Ying’s shoes, she wouldn’t want her father to marry a woman she hardly knew.
Uncle Liu’s family was originally quite happy and lacked nothing, but after his divorce, for some sentimental reason regarding his ex-wife, he left with nothing but his daughter, Liu Ying.
Liu Ying was really happy as a child, but as she grew older, her family fell into hardship due to her mother’s divorce. Now that they’ve finally regained wealth, bought a house, and a car, she definitely wouldn’t want another woman ruining her happy life.
If her mother were just looking to live with Uncle Liu, Liu Ying wouldn’t mind much.

If her mother didn’t have that marriage certificate with her father, it wouldn’t be so easy to win a lawsuit now.
She didn’t have any dislikes for Liu Ying; it was just that this girl was a bit straightforward, and both sides had their own positions.
But for Lin Nan, right now, Liu Ying was the ultimate villain!
Following the sidewalk, after just ten minutes, Lin Nan arrived at the People’s Square.
After looking around the square and not spotting Liu Ying, Lin Nan found a random spot to sit and wait for Uncle Liu’s daughter.
Should she just use magic without saying a word when they meet?
But she could only control magic once; if she tried to use it again, it wouldn’t work, and even if Liu Ying agreed to her mother marrying Uncle Liu today, what if they had conflicts later on? What if Liu Ying demanded a divorce?

In the broad daylight, the square was deserted, and the blinding reflection from the tiles made Lin Nan squint uncontrollably.
Suddenly, a hand clapped on her shoulder, startling her; she quickly turned her head to find it was Liu Ying arriving for their meeting.
“What’s up?” Liu Ying, dressed in professional attire, radiated a mature woman’s charm.
But with that intense gaze and her office attire, Lin Nan felt a pressure from head to toe, as if she’d been caught skipping class by the homeroom teacher, making her feel a bit guilty.
She wouldn’t figure out I’m about to use magic on her, right?
That thought subconsciously crossed her mind, causing a momentary panic, but Lin Nan quickly dismissed it.
Liu Ying sat on the other end of the bench, legs crossed, casually playing with her long curls, not even glancing at Lin Nan; she just blankly stared at the massive screen at the edge of the square: “I know what you want to say.”
Lin Nan suddenly realized she should have used magic when they made eye contact earlier.
Now Liu Ying didn’t even look at her, and she had no chance to use magic.
“I’ve been thinking. I need to work, and someday I have to get married. My dad doesn’t need company right now, but in the future, if he does, I won’t have time to be with him.”
“Having someone to support each other is pretty nice.”
Lin Nan’s eyes sparkled, her little head bobbing up and down quickly.
