I Don’t Want to Be Turned into a Girl by Magic – Chapter 614

623. Meeting the Parents【6/10】

==============================

Lin Nan was an easily satisfied person.

Her new home was a beautifully furnished apartment. The moment she stepped inside, she thought, “Why bother with renovations? This fancy decor already hits most of my home fantasies!”

She pictured herself and Chen Yao living in such a spacious place, raising pets, working nine to five…

Then, out of nowhere, an image of a hyperactive little kid popped into her head, totally wrecking their peaceful two-person life! Panic-stricken, Lin Nan clutched her stomach, her face paling.

Absolutely NO kids! Even if there’s a magic spell that temporarily dulls the pain of childbirth, NO WAY!

Meanwhile, her mother and aunt were pointing fingers and full of disapproval.

Auntie had been talked into buying this place; though the location was great. Since she bought it, the price had shot up by three to five thousand per square meter!

Lin Nan and Chen Yao felt helpless, wandering through what would be their future home while Liu Xuefei tagged along, her eyes sparkling with envy.

“Lin Nan, I heard that Guodong bought a place too?” she asked, following Lin Nan around, inspecting the lovely apartment.

Ever since Lin Nan revealed her identity as a woman, Liu Xuefei seemed less intrigued than before; they hadn’t interacted much last semester, probably because Liu Xuefei has a bit of a thing for girls.

At one point, Liu Xuefei had been puzzled as to how Lin Nan—a guy—could have br*asts, but now she finally got it.

And she was even engaged to Chen Yao, with a two-story wedding apartment to boot!

Pure envy!

“I heard it’s all renovated, but I can’t remember the location,” Lin Nan scratched her head. “I think he bought it in a small town out in the sticks?”

“Oh, really?” Liu Xuefei’s enthusiastic expression faded at that.

When the younger crowd’s ideas got shut down, they simply wandered around. The furnished apartment still lacked appliances, making it feel a bit empty. The furniture wasn’t particularly amazing, but Lin Nan didn’t mind.

The first floor had a Western style with white tiles, while the second floor sported a cozy, traditional Chinese vibe, complete with red wooden flooring.

Honestly, Lin Nan had no idea what the developer was thinking.

The two clashing styles gave her a headache, and it was no wonder that Auntie wanted a redo.

Her mother and aunt also took their sweet time wandering around, settling on the general direction for the remodel, then began discussing what brands of appliances to buy.

“Lin Nan, remember to invite me to your wedding!” Liu Xuefei chimed with a grin, linking her arm with Lin Nan’s. “By the way, do you know where Li Na has been lately? Can’t see her right before finals.”

Li Na didn’t get along too well with her roommates, but her friendship with Liu Xuefei had grown, likely due to their shared experience of dressing as feminine “sisters”.

Lin Nan answered honestly, “I heard she went on vacation.”

“Skipping out on exams too? Isn’t she afraid of not graduating?”

Honestly, Li Na probably didn’t care about graduation.

Chen Yao strolled casually to the second-floor terrace, hands stuffed in his pockets, taking a look around only to realize they were surrounded by residential buildings, blocking most of the view.

Otherwise, relaxing on a deck chair, playing with a cat, and enjoying the scenery would be pretty nice.

Lin Nan and Liu Xuefei followed him out to the terrace.

The floor plan didn’t hint at much, but standing here, they realized the space was surprisingly generous.

Lin Nan wasn’t interested in fish, but planting some flowers would be lovely, especially with mosquitoes not making it up to the 33rd floor.

This was the top floor, and Auntie had snatched it up for the rooftop garden, even if top-floor living wasn’t exactly the best for comfort.

But for Lin Nan, having her own little nest was more than enough.

After touring the future wedding apartment, Lin Nan’s mother treated everyone to dinner in the provincial city, after which they all drove home.

Wu Guodong planned to take Liu Xuefei to meet Lin Nan’s grandfather.

The two looked so cozy together, there wasn’t a hint of argument; once they were together, they were all smiles and cuddles.

Uncle used to get flustered and stutter around girls, but now, with Liu Xuefei, he was glowing with happiness while she wore a perky smile, radiating sweetness.

What a sight…

Then there was Liu Xuefei and her bouncy chest.

Lin Nan suspected that Liu Xuefei might have already had Uncle’s dessert thoroughly cleaned out.

Ugh, scary.

But hey, since they’d officially been together since winter break, it was reasonable.

In Wu Guodong’s car, Lin Nan and Liu Xuefei were in the back, while Chen Yao drove another car.

Liu Xuefei looked a bit nervous, whispering to Lin Nan, “Are your grandparents easy to get along with?”

“They’re in their sixties or seventies. Do you think they’ll mind the age gap with Guodong? Will they be really conservative? You know, like the traditional ‘daughter-in-law shouldn’t eat at the table’ nonsense…”

She’d asked Wu Guodong all this before, but he’d never talk bad about his parents.

At twenty, Liu Xuefei was almost a decade younger than Wu Guodong; that was quite the age gap!

Lin Nan furrowed her brows, considering her words. “Grandpa is actually quite nice; he just has this serious face that might be a bit intimidating.”

“But it’s not targeted at you—he’s like that with everyone. So don’t overthink it; he’s actually pretty great! In internet terms, he’s a bit tsundere. Even if he’s really pleased with you, there probably won’t be too much expression.”

“Mm-hmm.” Liu Xuefei nodded vigorously, fists clenched, seriousness in her eyes.

“Grandma is even easier to deal with—nothing to worry about there. She’s quite kind, so yeah.”

Liu Xuefei teased, “Why do you say ‘yeah’ to affirm what you just said? It sounds like you’re a bit unsure!”

But Grandma had indeed become quite fierce lately, managing even Grandpa quite well.

She switched the topic, “Just don’t worry too much; both grandparents are really nice. If you behave well, they shouldn’t say anything bad. They’re not too conservative, have no bad habits, and can speak Putonghua, so communication shouldn’t be a problem at all.”

Liu Xuefei nodded absently, “Should we bring a gift?”

Lin Nan initially thought of recommending some good wine, but while that might please Grandpa, it would irk Grandma, so she answered, “How about some fruit? Grandpa has gout, so steer clear of seafood.”

“Makeup should be light; seniors don’t like it too heavy.”

Just then, Wu Guodong chimed in from the driver’s seat, “You’d better get a push-up bra too, or else no b*obs or b*tt will charm the old folks!”

Usually, the older generation prefers their daughters-in-law a bit more… well-endowed, for legitimate reasons.

Which was why Lin Nan had won Chen Yao’s parents over in one fell swoop.

Liu Xuefei’s face turned crimson as she indignantly smacked Wu Guodong on the head from the backseat, “Smooth talker!”
