Chapter 20: Nuclear Explosion Slash – The Sword that Seals the Gods
Under the shade of a tree, Xu Xiaofeng sneezed.
“Achoo! Is someone talking about me? How strange.”
She was idly browsing the forum, clearly in a state of boredom.
Right now, there was nothing to do. The city was under martial law, the Teleportation Array was out of commission, and she couldn’t even pick up a brick.
Digging into her beloved little bamboo basket, she pulled out a handful of sunflower seeds, leaned against the tree, and started munching while watching the live stream.
Don’t ask where this stuff came from; you saw her pull it out, didn’t you?
On the screen was a real-time changing bar graph that recorded the top twenty output damage rankings for the BOSS raid.
Occasionally, ranks would fluctuate, with players dropping in and out of the top twenty. The output differences between the top three and the twentieth place were a mere few hundred—anything could happen at any moment!
After that, it was pretty much the same until the sixtieth place, where noticeable gaps finally appeared.
The reason was simple: the top sixty were backed by rich players who were funding the commoners to work hard. The rest simply didn’t have enough financial support, and their enthusiasm was lacking.
Xu Xiaofeng’s newbie village, 281st, consistently ranked in the top five. The top five positions had live visuals.
“Man, they’re rich; how nice would it be if that was me?” Xu Xiaofeng lamented.
“Hey! The BOSS is changing its moves!” She gulped down a big shot of soda and sat up straight, eyes glued to the screen.
But after a while, she slumped back down. So what if the BOSS was changing its moves?
With so many players crowded around it, unless it launched a nuclear bomb to clear the field, it wouldn’t change its fate of being beaten to d*ath.
“Boring! I want to see bl**d flowing like a river!”
Every time the BOSS lost twenty percent of its health, it entered a new phase, gaining faster attack speed and higher damage.
However, this was of little consequence; for those rich players, losing an extra two players per second just meant they had to chip in a bit more money—nothing too serious.
Finally, after an hour and a half of torturing the BOSS, its health dropped below forty percent, and the scene changed again.
The Shadow of the Wolf God began to whip up a furious wind, spiraling currents around.
This… bad! A large-scale AOE!
The seasoned players quickly reacted, shouting warnings. But it did little good; with the crowd packed together, they couldn’t escape.
There was a thunderous boom as the storm surged. Countless players were sliced into segments by the sharp wind blades, transforming into little light dots and disappearing.
In an instant, a ten-meter radius around the BOSS was clear—just a heap of dropped equipment left behind.
Some players at the edge who narrowly survived hesitated, and the crowd momentarily froze.
“Continue the attack! From now on, compensation is one and a half times!”
“Woohoo!”
The players cheered and pressed forward again, conveniently picking up the loot off the ground.
And so the raid continued, with the BOSS clearing out waves every so often, but still—too many players! It couldn’t take them all out.
Watching this unfold made Xu Xiaofeng’s little angel heart ache a little.
She was a softie and couldn’t bear to see others suffer. If possible, she really wanted to invite that poor little wolf back home for a sit-down. Maybe give it some actual damage and send it off peacefully.
Well, that was obviously out of the question. Forget if she could even manage it; just one of those little claws and she’d be destined for eternal rest herself!
In the BOSS’s next phase, it merely added a ranged energy burst, still doing little to harm the players or the wallets of the rich.
As time ticked by, the BOSS’s health gradually dwindled, while the heart of Fiery Conflict Across the Sky began to quicken.
Ten thousand! Almost there!
Nine thousand!! Good! Very good!
Eight thousand! About to hit it!
Seven thousand! Now’s the time!
Standing about thirty meters away on a large rock, Fiery Conflict Across the Sky suddenly shouted down to the crowd below:
“OK! Brothers! Everyone look at me! Look at me!”
“I’m declaring! I want the first k*ll on this World Boss!”
Upon hearing this, everyone froze. They glanced at the BOSS, then back at Fiery Conflict Across the Sky.
Brother, the BOSS still has around seven thousand health left! At this rate, it’ll take the guys ten minutes just to scrape it! Are you out of your mind?
Seeing their expressions, Fiery Conflict Across the Sky could guess their thoughts. He merely smiled faintly.
“Gentlemen, I have a sword! Come and see!”
Xu Xiaofeng also noticed the commotion, and even the live stream shifted to this direction.
“Ooh, is it about to start?” Little Loli smiled innocently. “Big Brother, go for it! Don’t let us down!”
But before that, she crammed a sunflower seed shell into a ball with her space power and tossed it at the BOSS.
Yep, snagged a drop of damage—good enough. Now, it’s the stage for the sword-wielding big brother.
Fiery Conflict Across the Sky drew out his prized sword, a blue-quality blade with pretty decent stats—one he had splurged some cash on.
“Gentlemen, watch closely! This sword is enough to seal the gods; don’t blink!”
With that, he held the sword up high, facing the BOSS, and yelled:
“Nuclear Explosion Slash—!”
“Explosion Slash—!”
“Slash—!”
His shouts were earth-shattering, crashing through the air. Even the BOSS was momentarily stunned, turning its gaze toward him.
Everyone was watching him—some with envy, some with confusion, others savoring the sound of those three words.
But everyone noticed that as the last word left his mouth, an indistinct energy began to gather at the tip of his sword.
The energy was formless but carried an intimidating presence.
“What a terrifying aura! This sword is definitely no joke!”
“Brother, do you see something we don’t?”
“Um, no.”
The energy at the sword’s tip swelled more fiercely, its intensity growing, as if ready to swallow the world. Yet, he continued to hold on.
Three seconds passed…
“Uh, why do I feel like something’s off?”
“Tian Ge, stop charging it and just slash already!”
“Yeah, stop charging! I feel like it’s about to blow up!”
Fiery Conflict Across the Sky gritted his teeth, holding his hand up, face flushed and trembling slightly.
He struggled to open his mouth: “I… I don’t want to… charge… but it… won’t… slash… down!”
“Uh? It won’t slash?”
“Does that mean—”
“Holy cr*p! Run!”
No sooner had he spoken, and the gang barely had time to pull their legs, a blinding white light erupted from Fiery Conflict Across the Sky’s sword.
With a deafening boom, dust kicked up from the ground, mixed with swirling elements in the air, forming a mushroom cloud that floated upwards.
In the last moment before the white light swallowed Fiery Conflict Across the Sky, he remembered a line from the skill description—
“With this sword, no one can force out a second sword…”
MMP! This skill is such a trap!
