Chapter 30: This is Like Picking Up Money
In the game Otherworld, there are two places that allow players to directly connect to the real world: the official forum and the official live streaming platform.
Players can enter these places online through the player operation panel or offline via a website or mobile app.
In both locations, gold coins and RMDB are in circulation. Using gold coins also grants a nice little discount.
Xu Xiaofeng casually said something that made the live viewers shower her with three million RMDB. After deducting the platform’s cut and other losses, she ended up with around 20,000 gold coins in her pocket.
Honestly, earning money was easier than picking it up off the ground.
Xu Xiaofeng sneaked a peek at this live room through her operation panel and found there was nearly no delay.
Taking another glance at the chat.
Holy moly! What a disaster!
She quickly closed the chat window.
The usual “I love you, wifey!” was the least concerning. Things got weirder—with stuff like checking educational backgrounds, foot f*tish comments, and all kinds of risqué questions.
At least in previous post comment sections, the posters had some awareness of decorum.
In the live chat, however, everything was quickly buried under a mountain of nonsense; they just kept getting worse and worse.
Even the Bear Mountain g*n God, who originally planned to read comments to his little nuclear bomb sister, was momentarily at a loss for words.
Sure, people can post whatever they want, but if he read those out loud, he’d be the one socially dead!
Finally, he found a comment that seemed decently serious among the ocean of stupidity.
“Nuclear Bomb Little Sister, we can interact with viewers in our live stream through the chat. I’ll read a few comments to you, like this one.”
The g*n God cleared his throat.
“Excuse me, Nuclear Bomb Little Sister, may I ask your name and how old you are…?” He stopped mid-sentence.
Trying to find a normal comment among these goofy netizens was like waking up in a swamp.
“What do you mean by that?”
“Do… do you have a boyfriend?”
Xu Xiaofeng rolled her eyes internally.
Pfft! Just this? I thought it would be something more outrageous. Among those comments, this one was the beacon of civility.
She tilted her head in thought and replied, “I don’t know my name! I should be eleven this year. What does ‘boyfriend’ mean?”
“Uhhh…” The g*n God paused, trying to rephrase, “It’s asking if you have someone you like.”
“Someone I like?” Xu Xiaofeng poked her chin with her finger, “Sure! I like Uncle Edward, Aunt Frieda, Grandpa Bond, and Lord Fan Lif. I have loads of favorites!”
“I also like all the Adventurers, and everyone watching me!”
There’s a saying that sincerity is the ultimate weapon. While you guys are being silly, I’ll be pure and innocent. Let’s see if your conscience takes a hit!
Sure enough, as soon as she said that, the wave of nonsense in the live chat suddenly reduced by half, leaving only a few still happily shouting “wifey!”
After a bit, many comments shifted to:
“I’ll just cast a big magic spell as an apology for my bad comments.”
“Two floating stones offered up as contrition for my inappropriate remarks.”
“Typing with both hands to show my innocence.”
Then there were a bunch of flashy apologies.
Big magic spells cost fifty gold coins each, floating stones were twenty, and the price for flashy apologies varied. As for the last type of comment, let’s just pretend we didn’t see that.
Xu Xiaofeng chuckled to herself.
Having been a goofy netizen herself, she knew many of these people were just here for the fun. They act like this online, but in reality, they’re not that ridiculous.
The live stream continued, and Xu Xiaofeng was still engaging with her viewers.
But the rhythm of this interaction felt a little off.
In summary: When something came at her, she dodged. If they got too close, she’d curl up in defense, clutching their pants and going “Wah wah wah!”
This wasn’t really an interaction; I’m practically switching sides here!
Or rather, this is true interaction—did you see my health bar plummeting?!
Medic! Ah Wei! I need a health pack!
Ah Wei is already dead, and he used up all the health packs!
Sometimes, shifting the chat’s atmosphere is as easy as retreating to advance, using kindness and purity to win the world over.
Yet, deep inside, Xu Xiaofeng thought: Heh! Look at you! I’ve got your number! Hand over those little coins!
Once the chat returned to normal, the Bear Mountain g*n God sighed in relief.
Xu Xiaofeng saw it was about time and returned to her spot by the teleportation array, ready to mine.
The g*n God stood nearby, reading comments from time to time and letting her respond as needed.
Suddenly, he announced, “Thank you to ‘Magic City’s Most Wild’ for the thousand gold coin flashy comment! I heard Nuclear Bomb Little Sister plans to go to the Imperial Capital soon—is that true?”
Xu Xiaofeng feigned shock, “How did you know? I didn’t tell anyone!”
Since the cat was out of the bag, she figured she might as well solidify it and use it as groundwork for her upcoming Imperial Capital plans.
Another flashy comment of a thousand gold coins popped up: Since Nuclear Bomb Little Sister has this plan, we’ll see you in the Imperial Capital. Today, I’m sending twenty city protection barriers as a greeting.
Twenty city protection barriers totaled ten thousand gold coins. Add in the two thousand gold coins for the flashy comment, and that’s twelve thousand gold coins just for saying hello, equivalent to 120,000 RMDB. These are some serious high rollers!
The g*n God translated it for the NPCs, nearly drooling as he spoke.
Xu Xiaofeng nodded, “Okay, I’ll remember your name. Big Brother, see you in the Imperial Capital!”
Darling, this chapter has more to offer, so click to the next page to continue reading. More exciting parts await!
After saying that, she thought for a moment and called out to the system in her head, “Sister Tong, can you help me out with some favorability points?”
In some wild area of a Beginner’s Village, a person who had briefly watched the live stream and sent some money—“Magic City’s Most Wild”—was about to get back to grinding when they heard the system notification.
He was stunned for a moment, then burst into joy.
He’d heard stories about Liu Haotian spending a hundred million on a skill, only to see no increase in favorability!
Without hesitation, he dove back into the live stream, tossing another thousand gold coin flashy comment.
“Brothers, my favorability just increased!”
This stirred up a tidal wave; potential rich viewers began to announce themselves in the chat and start throwing money.
As Xu Xiaofeng watched this unfold, a cunning smile crept across her face.
Hehe, not only are you giving me money, but you’re also bringing your friends along for a donation. Now that’s a proper golden goose!
After all, the rich folks’ money isn’t real money—it’s just numbers. Let it sit there, and it will always just be numbers. Why not spend it where it means something?
Like here, as long as it’s spent, the favorability skyrockets!
Then she gave each of those donating rich viewers a little favorability boost.
Well, just one point each.
And so, the day passed with Xu Xiaofeng mining (or rather, slacking off) while streaming.
Today’s mining returns were much lower; those who should have opened VIP yesterday were mostly done, and the remaining casual players didn’t offer much profit.
However, the livestream business was still a lush verdant field.
Eventually, in front of all the viewers, the Bear Mountain g*n God transferred the entire earnings to Xu Xiaofeng—over 120,000 gold coins.
When transferring the money, the g*n God felt the pinch, but he knew better than to touch that cash; just trailing behind Nuclear Bomb Little Sister was enough to fill his appetite.
But Xu Xiaofeng didn’t think that way.
She’d prefer the soup behind her to stay strictly hers. Once they hit the main city, having her silly sister do the streaming would definitely be better than this bear!
She set aside any talk of personality; at least her looks were on point!
