Chapter 40: What Major are You in College? I Major in Gaming!
Xu Xiaofeng spent half an hour thoroughly understanding the “Jadeite Ten Swords” and then jumped right into practice.
The basic sword moves were almost memorized after a single run-through, comprehended after two attempts, and by the third, she had reached mastery.
And those five built-in skills? Just one practice session boosted their proficiency by fifty points! After twenty tries, those skills were already at novice level!
Isn’t this a bit too easy?
Xu Xiaofeng scratched her head, feeling that this was a far cry from what she had imagined skill practice to be.
Didn’t they always say something like “hundred refinements make steel”? How come learning a skill here feels like munching on snacks?
She remembered that “Dragon and Phoenix Power” wasn’t like this at all.
Xu Xiaofeng took a look at her long-unused “Dragon and Phoenix Power” skill.
It wasn’t that the skill lacked strength; it was just that once activated, monsters would flee after the slightest hit, running off like their tails were on fire. That was way too inefficient for farming!
And now, its proficiency had reached 800 points…
Alright, looks like it’s just as easy across the board.
“Sister Tong, what’s going on here? I see other people’s skills don’t level up this fast on the forums.”
Sister Tong didn’t feel like answering her, so she just sent back some nonsense numbers: ACDEF.
“Ah, good point. I’m just a pro at slacking off.”
Xu Xiaofeng simply brushed her skill proficiency to novice levels, then decided to stop. The next stage required a tenfold increase in proficiency, after all.
She was ready to find some monsters to practice on.
This entire process left Edward, hiding in a treetop, utterly dumbfounded.
She’s already a novice?!
She had been practicing for less than ten minutes!
Could she really be a martial arts genius?!
Keep in mind, this is the “Jadeite Ten Swords”! It’s the highest-ranked military skill of the Jade Emperor Kingdom, not some roadside junk!
You could say that throughout the entire Jade Emperor Kingdom, from the highest-ranking officers to the lowest soldiers, everyone practices various versions of this swordplay.
Even the royal family starts with this!
And now, a girl of just around ten had managed to master it in under an hour.
If he hadn’t seen it with his own eyes, Edward wouldn’t have believed it. Now that he’s seen it, he suspected this girl had practiced before.
“Lucky me…”
Edward sighed, then continued tailing Xu Xiaofeng.
The rest of the day was uneventful.
With her newfound sword skills, Xu Xiaofeng sliced through monsters like chopping vegetables. Although her swordplay couldn’t be called profound, she certainly looked the part.
Edward watched the whole time, nodding along.
This was a far cry from the cringe-worthy swordsman she used to be!
After about an hour of farming, Xu Xiaofeng chose to head back.
Home, sleep, then log off.
It was already half-past four in reality, and tomorrow marked the first day of the new semester.
Though she felt she didn’t really need sleep, as a good student, she decided to log off and lay down for a bit.
Hmm, even if she skipped classes, didn’t turn in assignments, goofed off during lectures, had long hair, and occasionally wore makeup (thanks to Xu Xiaoyue), she still believed she was a good student.
At least she’d never failed a subject.
After lying down for two hours, Xu Xiaofeng got up and made breakfast.
Counting today, it was the last day of preparing breakfast for her annoying little sister.
She called her sister up, watching her bleary-eyed and sporting dark circles, and couldn’t help but chuckle:
“Early morning and you still want your Mocha Choco Grande? You clearly stayed up playing games all night!”
“Hmm? You didn’t?”
“Of course not! Just look at how energetic I am!”
Xu Xiaofeng displayed her full-on energy levels.
She was definitely not one to stay up late; she never did. Staying up is bad for the body, y’know? So she just pulls all-nighters instead.
“Little sis, today marks a full week – if you want your Mocha Choco Grande tomorrow, you’ll have to figure it out yourself.”
“Whatever!”
They exchanged a few quips and then headed to school together.
“Big Brother, did you catch Nuclear Bomb Little Sister’s stream yesterday?”
The keywords triggered Xu Xiaofeng’s inner alarm, but his face remained unreadable: “Nah, I have no need to watch streams.”
“True. I just realized that Nuclear Bomb Little Sister is not only cute and well-behaved but also makes money. If someone manages to bring her home, that’d be a jackpot!”
“Uh-huh~”
Xu Xiaofeng raised an eyebrow.
Honestly, who wouldn’t feel happy hearing genuine praise? Even a mature Xu Xiaofeng wasn’t an exception.
“So, Big Brother, you better step up! Aren’t you super quick on the uptake? Why’s there no action now?”
Xu Xiaofeng frowned. While that sounded reasonable, given what he knew about his little sister, it struck him like lightning.
Oh heck! If she really did manage to bring Nuclear Bomb Little Sister home, he wasn’t sure if he’d profit, but Xu Xiaoyue would absolutely be rolling in it!
Besides, that so-called “Nuclear Bomb Little Sister” is actually me!
By then, with the collar and chain… cough, okay, he wasn’t that messed up, but certainly some rough treatment would be in the cards.
“Xiaoyue, I warn you, three years minimum, and a maximum of life imprisonment.”
“Pft! You have the ambition but no guts. Just wait until we hit the main city; I’ll leave you eating my dust!”
Xu Xiaofeng smirked: “Heh, good luck with that.”
He was curious to see how his silly sister would stack up against him and what foolish antics she’d pull to catch Nuclear Bomb Little Sister’s attention.
They soon arrived at the school gates, ready to step inside when a voice called out from behind.
“Little Wind! Little Moon! Good morning!”
A burly figure bounded over with impressive agility.
“Brother Feng! Who’s this… beautiful lady you have with you?”
“Who the heck are you?!”
Xu Xiaofeng clenched a fist, landing a punch on Fat Wang’s belly, dealing… 1 point of damage.
Not even a tickle.
“Oh, Brother Feng! I almost thought I got the wrong person!”
With that, Wang Xinghao sized up Xu Xiaofeng, then gave a thumbs up.
“Brother Feng, this new look of yours is awesome! Have you had a life-changing epiphany or something?”
“Get lost! I’ve had an epiphany about your mom!”
Nearby, Xu Xiaoyue interjected just in time: “He blew up on social media and was happy all night because of it.”
“Yeah, and you get lost too! Isn’t all this because of you?!”
“Alright, alright, Brother Feng, cool it.” Wang Xinghao patted his shoulder, “Let’s get to the point.”
Xu Xiaofeng crossed his arms, looking impatient: “Spit it out.”
“Here’s the deal; didn’t our school recently start collecting information on game characters?”
“Yeah, so what?”
“Afterward, I found it a bit suspicious, so I dug up more info. You’ll never guess what I found out!”
“Make me guess with my head! Forget it if you’re not telling me!”
“Okay, okay.” Wang Xinghao leaned closer, whispering mysteriously, “I found out that the government is collecting opinions from major universities about setting up relevant majors!”
“Relevant? Like game-related?”
“Yup! Game-related!”
