Chapter 322: Main Quest – Defense of the Golden City
Time flies! Just like that, over a month has passed in the blink of an eye.
During this time, Yuliya has been living the good life, just lounging around. Counting her money, teasing Luti, occasionally making a public appearance, and then taking a weekly trip back to Emerald City.

Watching her energy crystal collection slowly rise, inching closer to that magical line she set, she felt a mix of excitement and nervousness.
As her heart calmed, determination bubbled up inside her.
Things had gone this far; there was no turning back now. Whatever awaited her, she’d have to face it head-on because only by confronting it could she come up with a solution.
Maybe nothing would happen, and it would all be a false alarm?
She called for everyone else, not just the usual Andrew and the usual four, but also several other squad leaders.
The Adventurers’ Guild was buzzing with dozens of people.
The ghost NPCs of Golden City numbered in the hundreds, approaching a thousand, so it was impossible to bring them all along. They had to select a few, who would then relay Yuliya’s words to the rest.
Maria suggested Yuliya head to the palace’s main hall, where she could address everyone herself.
But Yuliya shot that idea down.
The palace was a place for kings, and right now, Yuliya was still a long way from that.
She was still just a princess. Plus, for some reason, she felt a slight aversion to that place.
Once everyone entered the guild, the atmosphere turned tense and oppressive.
“Don’t worry too much, everyone! I’ll just say a few words. In three days, we’ll start fixing Golden City.”
“Actually, the main forces won’t be us. The adventurers will be our first line of defense.”
The NPCs of Golden City couldn’t even leave, let alone defend the city walls of Golden City.
If it ever got to the point where they needed to step in, things would be very dire.
“Adventurers might be a bit dilly-dallying in their daily lives, but when it comes to doing our tasks, they’re all business and will get the job done no matter what.”
After spending so long together, everyone had a certain understanding of these adventurers.
They were a bit unreliable day-to-day but surprisingly steadfast when it came to missions.
“So, all we really need to do is take care of logistics from the back.”
She started organizing the work.
They were just routine tasks, but Yuliya still pointed out every detail, leaving nothing to chance.
She was the backbone of Golden City, the will of everyone.
With her unwavering determination, others would rally together like a well-built wall.
Once everything was arranged, Yuliya noticed the heavy atmosphere below and tilted her head, “What’s up with you all? You look more nervous than I do!”
Forcing a relaxed laugh, she added, “Don’t overthink it! Maybe the adventurers will take care of everything for us?”
Andrew cleared his throat, “Everyone, focus on your tasks and don’t stress too much! We’re here to help Her Highness with her worries, do you really want her stressing over you?”
The veteran’s words clearly had an effect as others started to respond.
Some took deep breaths, others laughed at who-knows-what, and some just exchanged glances.
Finally, they unified in one resounding phrase: “Yes! Serving the princess!”
Yuliya waved her hand, “Alright, get busy!”
“Luti!” Maria called out.
Luti, who was standing beside Yuliya, suddenly snapped back to attention, as if she’d just woken up from a daze, “Yes, Miss Maid!”
“It’s time to go! We have our preparations to make. Stop clinging to the princess all the time!”
“Ah! Right!”
Luti hurried to catch up with Maria.
But after taking a couple of steps, she turned back and waved at Yuliya, “Your Highness! I’m off now!”
“Mm, good luck!” Yuliya smiled and waved back.
Once everyone departed and the guild returned to its empty state, the smile faded from her face, gradually turning into a solemn look.
Tomorrow would be the toughest test she faced in a long time.
If she passed this test, with the mobilizable Golden City backing her, her subsequent path would be smooth sailing.
But if she failed, who knows what would happen?
Her thoughts about tomorrow were a chaotic whirlpool of confusion.
The usual guiding premonitions that showed up often were now flailing around like a headless fly.
Out of her reach, clear as mud.
This time, she couldn’t feel where her fate was taking her.
Thinking about it, her opposition was a time-controlling demon; whether fate could affect it was anybody’s guess.
Ultimately, Yuliya sighed and leaned back, closing her eyes.
Players quickly noticed the Adventurers’ Guild announcement.
Word spread like wildfire, and in an instant, all players in Golden City knew about it and rushed back.
As they entered Golden City, a quest alert popped up.

Quest Level: Unknown (Epic, Legendary, ???)
Quest Background: Three days from now, a restoration ceremony will take place in Golden City, sending ripples throughout most of the Desert Realm, attracting countless monsters.
Quest Requirements: Defend Golden City until the ceremony is completed (10 hours).
Quest Rewards: Based on the actual difficulty of the quest, number of monsters defeated, and the success or failure ratio of the Golden City’s war losses.

At first glance, everyone was buzzing with excitement.

The last main quest in the Huaxia Server was completed mysteriously without most people being aware, while other servers didn’t get one at all.

Other servers could only sit there and watch, green with envy.
But this time, everyone in the Golden City could join in; finally, a chance to share the spoils!

What’s this? Quest level unknown?
And three question marks following the legendary level? That doesn’t sound too good…
But as they read on, everything seemed pretty normal. Just defending a city.
They’d done castle defenses in other games; it’s not a big deal.
At first glance, this quest didn’t seem too difficult.
After all, they had been grinding in the desert for so long, had faced all kinds of monsters, and had their countermeasures ready; the only headache would be the numbers.
Too many monsters could be a pain, but this was a defensive operation.
Defense differs from offense; the attacking side’s numerical advantage would be greatly diluted by the terrain.
