Chapter 394: Gold-Eating Beast
The bishop ordered someone to take Yuliya to the back and instructed others to prepare breakfast.
But he stayed in the front, continuing with his proclamations and prayers.
It seemed he had no intention of dealing with Yuliya anymore.
As for Yuliya, she didn’t care about him either; she was ready to eat!
She and Little Li split the entire breakfast on the table in half.
Oh, and just to clarify, it’s the breakfast on the table that got divided. The table itself isn’t edible—biting into it would hurt!
Once they finished eating, she accompanied Little Li in some games at the table.
After a while, someone finally walked in through the door and plopped down right across from Yuliya.
“Hey, you’ve eaten, aren’t you leaving yet?”
Yuliya shot a glance at the person opposite her, her lips curling up: “I finished eating, it’s time to rest and digest, right? Of course, it would be even better if someone could chat with me.”
She could tell right away that the person across from her was in a possessed state.
And the possessor, well, obviously it was the divine being from here.
“What should I call you?”
“Oh, big sis, I’m just a minor character, can you not mind me? I finally found this tiny little corner to scrape together a living, what do you want from me?”
“Uh…” Yuliya was momentarily taken aback.
Didn’t he sound a bit too pitiful?
Come on, you’re a god, right?
“Well, I just happened to pass by, had no intention of looking for you, just taking a look.”
“…”
The other party seemed taken aback as well.
“Really just passing by?”
“What else could it be?”
What else indeed? I nearly grabbed my bucket and ran for it!
But then again, finding another place would be such a hassle; I didn’t want to abandon my meager possessions here, so I thought I’d stick around a bit longer.
Of course, the main reason was sensing that Yuliya was a bit off.
“I won’t tell you my true name; just call me the God of Truth.”
“The God of Truth, huh?” Yuliya nodded, “No wonder this country turned out like this.”
Noticing Yuliya’s probing gaze, the God of Truth quickly raised a hand: “Let me clarify. I have no intention or ability to get involved in any disputes among you big shots. Can’t I just enjoy my meals and wait for the end in this little corner?”
“I see…” Yuliya rested her chin on her hands, looking at him with a sly smile, “But, after all, this is human territory. You can’t just come here and do as you please, can you? How about moving over a bit to the east? There’s a massive monster zone over there; it’s much better than this little place.”
“Monster zone? Big sis, please don’t joke with me!” The God of Truth stood up in a panic, but the next moment, his brows furrowed, “Wait, you… haven’t recovered yet?”
Yuliya thought it over and decided to just nod in admission.
He was the God of Truth; lying wouldn’t matter.
“Oh, in that case…” The God of Truth instantly calmed down, looking much more relaxed, “Looks like it’ll be a while until order is restored… sigh, your sudden appearance here really startled me.”
“Order restoration?” Yuliya’s eyes lit up, “Care to elaborate?”
“Don’t ask me; I don’t know. I told you I’m just a minor character. Such major stuff surely has to do with you big shots. Ask yourself.”
Though he claimed to be a minor character, his posture now radiated major character vibes, legs propped up, leaning back, with hands on the table.
Yikes… she might be strong, but right now, she wasn’t that strong. So, no need to panic.
However, not long after, she felt something wet on her hand.
Looking over, she saw a little guy licking her hand.
The God of Truth yanked his hand back in shock, shrinking back: “Ew!”
Little Li tilted her head excitedly and squeaked, “Ga! Ga ga!”
Yuliya glanced at Little Li, then at the God of Truth, and after some thought, said, “Uh… she says you taste good and wants to eat you. What do you think about that?”
I think… how about you look with your own head!
“Big sis, please don’t let her run wild! And definitely don’t let her eat random things. I’m not tasty; I’m not tasty at all!”
Yuliya smirked, beckoned, and instantly pulled Little Li back.
Then both of them, four eyes, stared intently at the God of Truth across the table.
“You seem to know her well. You mentioned something about a Gold-Eating Beast earlier; why don’t you tell me about that? You can’t just say you don’t know, right?”
The God of Truth looked at Yuliya, then at Little Li, hesitating.
But just then, Yuliya suddenly let go, and Little Li began inching closer to him.
The God of Truth immediately stood up, raising a hand to stop her: “No! Don’t let her run around! Let’s sit down and chat properly.”
Yuliya nodded with satisfaction and then reached out to scoop Little Li up, this time hugging her to her chest.
Smiling, she gestured, “Please, have a seat.”
This time, the God of Truth understood; a minor character should sit like a minor character. No need to pretend to be a big shot.
“Before, I wasn’t too sure, but now I am—it really is a Gold-Eating Beast.”
Yuliya scratched Little Li’s belly: “Looks like my Little Li is quite famous, huh?”
“Little Li… well, as long as you like it, big sis.”
But that name really doesn’t fit her at all.
“A Gold-Eating Beast was born around the same time as our new generation of gods. But I’m just one of the last born of that period, so I don’t know much about earlier events. Seriously, big sis, don’t ask me about those; this is why I’m just a minor character.”
“At that time, two of the four main gods fell, and their godhood, divine rights, and positions were all shattered and scattered. It took a long time to give birth to us new generation of gods.”
“And the Gold-Eating Beast is different from us, who gained power; it formed from the remains of one of the main gods.”
Yuliya gasped.
Whoa! That’s quite a pedigree!
“You mean to say that you gods gained power from two main gods, while Little Li here is actually the body of a main god?”
“Exactly.”
Holy moly! Are you saying Little Li is the direct heir to the legacy, and you gods are the sneaky thieves here?
Stealing from my family? That’s just wrong!
“I have a question.” Yuliya suddenly pondered, looking at the God of Truth.
“Ask away.”
“If you sacrificed a bit of yourself to enhance Little Li, would she become super powerful?”
“Big sis!”
“Just kidding!” Yuliya let out a dry laugh.
Not exactly the funniest joke.
But Yuliya knew that the fellow in front of her was just someone possessed by the God of Truth; he only had a tiny fraction of its power—not even a proper avatar.
Besides, even if this was its true form, with its current power, even if the God of Truth kept insisting it was a minor character, did she stand a chance against it?
The odds were slim.
“Sigh, Little Li, you’ll have to suffer for now. It’s my fault for not finding anything good for you to eat.”
Hearing this, the God of Truth felt a chill run down his spine.
Maybe it’d be better to scram? Losing this meager stash would be worth more than sticking around!
