Chapter 456: The Folded Classroom
Afterward, Yuliya hugged her books and left. Later that night, she informed her three roommates that she would be accompanying her mentor for fieldwork starting next week, planning to be away for half a month.
This sent Inif and Kaise into a wail of despair.
Without Yuliya around, Inif would be cooped up, stuck in the classroom, research room, and dormitory— the dreaded three-point loop.
Kaise didn’t have as many excuses, though; without Lady Riya around, she would just be really unhappy.
“Actually, if Kaise wants to come with me, that’s totally fine! I’ll talk to Mentor Danny about adding you, and there shouldn’t be any problem.”
But even though they hadn’t decided on a direction yet, hearing about the History Academy and phrases like “development background” and “causes of extinction” made Kaise shake her head.
That stuff? Totally not worth learning.
Not even a dog would bother.
Not even a cat.
Heidis simply said, “I’ll make you some easy-to-store snacks before you leave.”
That simple statement carried the weight of a mountain.
That’s what a Big Sister does! So different from that princess complex and that annoying cat!
Early the next morning, Inif yelled everyone awake.
Because the first class of the day was with Mentor Euphilia.
Euphilia’s class was meant for the freshmen, and Inif didn’t need to attend; she hadn’t planned on it at all.
But yesterday her responsible mentor had found her and strongly insisted that she could not miss any of Euphilia’s classes moving forward.
And when she thought about it, weren’t the other three roommates in the same class?
Perfect!
Without a second thought, she agreed.
The groggy bunch looked at the time in disbelief as they awaited Inif’s next move.
“It’s only six o’clock.”
“The sun’s still asleep at this hour.”
“Yeah, it’s a bit early.”
“Not early at all! Not early in the slightest!” Inif insisted, dragging them all to the living room. “For Mentor Euphilia’s class, if we don’t head over early, we won’t get good seats!”
Kaise rolled her eyes. “We don’t even need to fight for seats.”
The three freshmen had their spots locked down; only Inif needed to snag some chairs.
“And today’s class is outdoors, so there’s no need to scramble for seats,” Yuliya chimed in.
“Oh… really?” Inif felt a bit embarrassed but pushed through, saying, “Well, we can still go early to stretch and warm up.”
Now that everyone was up, they had no choice but to brush their teeth, eat breakfast, and prepare for class.
Since they had a bit more time, Heidis took extra care on breakfast, and by the time they stepped outside, it was already past seven.
When they reached the outdoor training ground, the sight of an overwhelming crowd shocked them into silence.
There seemed to be over a thousand people at a glance.
“Is there too many people here or what?!”
“Are all the students from the Magic Academy here just loafing around?”
“There were a lot of people in the last class, but this is on another level!”
“Lady Riya, stick close, don’t get lost!”
Yuliya glanced around, her eyes finally settling on the spot where the Saint Felis Daily was kept.
She pulled out a paper to read it.
Sure enough.
The biggest, brightest headline announced Euphilia’s appointment as the Dean of the Magic Academy.
The others gathered around her to see the newspaper.
“Oh, that explains it,” Inif mused, resting her chin on her hand. “Perhaps it’s not just students from the Magic Academy; other departments might be here just to see the spectacle.”
“Since it’s a class outdoors, it works out for other curious folks to observe.”
Euphilia being appointed as Dean was indeed a huge deal for Saint Felis Academy.
Due to the unique nature of the Magic Academy, that role had been vacant for quite some time.
And now, just two weeks after her arrival, the new mentor had been unanimously approved by all faculty members!
“Wow, that was quick…” Yuliya murmured.
With such chaos and so many people, the original class plan would definitely need some reworking.
“Let’s avoid the crowd; the academy should have arrangements for this situation.”
Yuliya suggested everyone wait at the perimeter.
Sure enough, around 7:30, the Security Team along with several instructors arrived on the scene to maintain order and designate areas for students.
By class time, when Euphilia arrived, the situation had mostly stabilized.
In fact, this was all orchestrated by Euphilia in advance. If she hadn’t called for help, the Security Team wouldn’t have responded so quickly.
The moment Euphilia appeared, the students erupted with excitement, all yelling, “Good morning, Dean!”
Euphilia covered her mouth in a light laugh, looked around, then raised her hand; a dazzling white light sparkled.
In the next instant, the white light burst forth in a spherical shape, quickly enveloping all the students.
She twirled her hand again, and the world seemed to rotate with it, creating a disorienting sensation.
After a moment of being dazed, the students came to and found Euphilia was now just ten meters away!
Turning around, they noticed that all the other students had vanished, leaving only about a hundred from their area. Oh, they hadn’t really disappeared— they just seemed to be way smaller, like they were at a distance.
But the strange part was that every one of the over a thousand students thought the same thing.
Euphilia spread her empty hand, revealing a translucent sphere.
She held the sphere up to the students, and they saw it was covered in densely packed red dots.
The red dots were clustered by area, resembling how the students had been positioned.
Euphilia smiled and said, “Since there are too many students for this class, I’ve opted for this method instead.”
“This sphere represents everyone’s positions, and each red dot is a student, while I’m right in the center.”
Upon closer inspection, they found a colorful light point right at the center of the sphere.
Every red dot was equidistant from this central point, which meant everyone perceived that the mentor was only ten meters away.
“Let’s call this a ‘Folded Classroom.’ Think of this as a pre-class performance. Are you all satisfied?”
“Satisfied! Extremely satisfied! It’s so magical!”
“Wow! How on Earth did you do that?!”
“This is clearly spatial magic, but I’ve never seen operations like this before!”
While the students were in awe, the instructors on-site were genuinely impressed.
This was the master of the Classical School, truly capable of creating an unprecedented type of magic on the spot!
