Chapter 463: Substitute Teaching
While Yuliya and Danny were busy following adventurers through some ruins, things were far from calm at Saint Felis Academy.
Fast forward a bit.
After a wild week, the students finally caught a breather over the weekend, taking a moment to recharge before bracing themselves for another round of chaos.
With their spirits high, it was time for class!
The first period? Nothing to write home about—just the usual grind. Truth be told, many students felt the sole purpose of this class was to serve as a lead-up to the next one.
Whether it was looks, charm, or smarts, nothing compared to what was coming.
Sure, Okor looked decent enough at first glance, but in comparison, he fell flat—seriously, he just didn’t measure up.
Finally, the second period rolled around, and the bell rang—class time!
Who waltzed in on that bell?
You guessed it—Okor…
Looking at the jam-packed classroom of nearly five hundred students, he cleared his throat awkwardly, “Ahem, Professor Euphilia has something to attend to, so I’ll be your substitute today.”
“Huh?”
“Ugh…”
Seeing the look of disappointment on the students’ faces, Okor couldn’t help but lower his head. “Sorry, everyone, but Euphilia really has too much on her plate right now,” he sighed.
Here he was, helping out, and now he had to apologize? Talk about humble pie.
“If you came purely for Professor Euphilia, feel free to leave—no hard feelings.”
As soon as those words left his mouth, half the students dashed for the exit.
But honestly, good riddance! He could never get comfortable in a room like this, and unlike Euphilia, he had zero skills in commanding a crowd.
Looking at the remaining two hundred students, Okor pulled out a booklet.
On the cover, it read: “Magic Theories Even a Three-Year-Old Could Understand: Imagination and Visualization.”
Editor: Euphilia.
“Ha! Although I’m substituting, Professor Euphilia had prepared this material ahead of time. This class might actually turn out to be pretty fun!” Okor chuckled, holding up the little booklet.
Euphilia had hand-written this!
If it weren’t for the perks of substituting, he wouldn’t be so keen, let me tell you. He was all about those rewards—nobody enjoys doing things just because they’re told!
A moment of silence lingered before the students erupted in cheers.
“Wow, it’s a lot more spacious now—Okor’s got a little mischief in him!”
“I’ve always thought Okor was quite the charmer, and his magic lessons aren’t half bad!”
“Those who left were just there to see Euphilia. I’m here to actually learn. Can I borrow that booklet? I’m just dying to learn something!”
Sure, Euphilia was a sight for sore eyes, but her classes were quite engaging. If given a choice, most would opt for her class, even if she wasn’t present.
“I want to learn from that booklet too, so stop daydreaming and take notes!”
With that, he formally kicked off the class.
This lesson was a mix of reading and discussion, with Okor playing the role of both teacher and half-student, while the rest of the class acted as fellow learners and part-time instructors.
Euphilia’s content was wonderfully abstract and a real brain workout, so perspectives varied widely—it was a whole buffet of ideas!
Young students and middle-aged Okor were bound to interpret things differently; mutual discussions just made more sense!
In the end, the class vibe was overly chill. They were practically brotherly by the end of it!
Several students in this class were Okor’s regulars, so they all blended seamlessly together.
In terms of Blue Star dynamics, it was like arguing about who’s going to the internet café after school.
Choose between going to the café with Okor or learning magic with Euphilia?
Clearly, it was about tagging along with Okor to learn magic from Euphilia!
Inif, Kaise, and Heidis were also in attendance.
Inif wanted to avoid the crowd, while Kaise and Heidis were just trying to give their teacher some face.
And boy, did they come out ahead!
After class, Inif bolted back to her dorm.
Riya wasn’t around, so she preferred not to venture outside much.
Heidis always had her own plans.
So that left Kaise.
Kaise didn’t fancy returning to bicker with the princess.
She could argue in front of Lady Riya because Lady Riya always intervened—and, boom, it was a reward!
But with Lady Riya out and about, arguing was just asking for trouble; utterly pointless!
Then it hit her.
Wait a minute! With Lady Riya out, does that mean Professor Euphilia didn’t teach class today? Lady Riya is Professor Euphilia! Something could have gone wrong!
After mulling it over, she opted to check things out.
It seemed reasonable to see her teacher, despite never having direct contact with Euphilia, since she was one of her students.
Before you knew it, Kaise found herself at the Magic Academy, waddling into the Classical School building.
Students frequently visited here; some teachers invited their students to collaborate on projects and accelerate learning.
Kaise made her way to the upper floors unimpeded.
But here’s the kicker—she didn’t know where Euphilia’s office was!
So, she asked for directions.
“Excuse me, which way to Professor Okor’s office?”
“Head that way and take a left. It’s at the back,” came the reply.
“Are there any signs or something?”
“Not far down, take a right turn.”
“Okay, thanks!”
Great! She found it!
While mentioning Okor, she was really focused on Euphilia.
After all, Okor was just the messenger boy.
Forget the internet café; learning magic was obviously way more thrilling.
Next, things got easier. Kaise made it to Euphilia’s research room and spotted the sign—she had the right place!
Then she knocked on the door.
But there was no response.
“Is anyone there? Out for the day?”
Frowning, Kaise thought for a moment before shaking her head.
Nope, she should be here.
But if there was no response, that meant there could be a problem!
Anxiously, she upped her knocking.
Just when she was about to burst out loud, the door finally creaked open.
“Come in.”
Kaise jumped in and closed the door behind her.
“So… Lady Riya? Are you okay?”
Euphilia rolled her eyes.
“I’d be better off without you bothering me.”
“Uh… I was worried about you, so I thought I’d check in.”
“Relax, I’m fine.” Suddenly, Euphilia’s eyes twinkled. “Since you’re here, I actually have something for you to do.”
