### Chapter 485: Room Check Time!
Two girls, Nancy and Mevis, were second-year students at the Martial Arts Academy.
According to them, they had been going to bed early and sticking to their routine.
Students at the Martial Arts Academy generally have a pretty orderly lifestyle—early to bed, early to rise, and morning training.
Unlike those in Magic or Alchemy, whose schedules are a complete mess! They might pull an all-nighter if they have a sudden spark of inspiration, then sleep all day like hibernating bears.
The Martial Arts Academy believes in consistency; pulling an all-nighter isn’t really helpful and tends to throw off your body’s rhythm.
Given the time frame of the recent alarms, they only went off between eleven at night and two in the morning.
And both girls claimed they hit the hay by ten o’clock—complete mismatch!
In fact, it wasn’t just them; practically everyone at the Martial Arts Academy passes out by eleven, so their chances of being the culprits were slim.
But this is just a general observation; there might be some mischievous soul deliberately causing trouble at that hour.
Staying up late? Oh, sure, that’s totally possible.
So, the alarm went off in their room, and naturally, suspicion fell squarely on them.
They recounted their activities after it got dark.
They got back to their dorm after seven, hung out with friends in other rooms until around eight, then hit the books until nine-thirty before washing up and calling it a night.
These two were practically inseparable, with all their movements synchronized—except for that brief moment of washing up separately after nine-thirty.
However, they bumped into each other in the hallway afterward to exchange goodnight wishes.
And after that? Nothing. They had no idea what happened after they fell asleep.
Even when the alarm went off around midnight, they didn’t stir, sleeping peacefully until the early morning, then rolling right into their daily training routine.
All of this paints a clear picture: there’s not much to be suspicious about, and confirming their alibi should be a breeze.
What’s more, when the alarm triggered, Euphilia arrived in a flash, observing that the two were indeed sound asleep.
There was no one else around.
Unfortunately, she didn’t catch sight of who triggered the alarm.
So, the question arises: how did this happen?
There are three possible methods. First, someone could manually cast the magic, trigger the alarm, and then cancel it—but that requires a person.
The second is remote casting. For instance, spatial magic can be cast from a distance without a clear path.
However, no matter the type of remote casting, the caster’s location would also exhibit matching magical fluctuations, meaning both the spell’s origin and the caster’s position would trigger alarms.
But in this case, there was only this one alarm triggered in the entire dormitory area at that time.
Anything outside the dorm that might’ve triggered it is ruled out too, since being too far away would significantly decrease precision—who knows how far off it would be?
The third, and the last feasible solution Euphilia could think of, is delayed casting.
Setting it up in advance to automatically trigger at a specific time.
They—or someone else—could’ve prepared the spell beforehand and left it alone, going about their business while the alarm went off, with the two girls still tucked in their beds.
But, there’s a big problem with that: what’s the motive?
Delayed casting without being present to observe? What’s the point? What’s the benefit?
Are they just trying to amp up the stress levels on the Security Team and the Barrier Maintenance Crew?
An alarm sounding multiple times over the month just to keep the Security Team on their toes?
While it’s not entirely impossible, it’s hard to imagine any fool at Saint Felis Academy continuing this nonsense after multiple serious warnings.
Euphilia frowned in deep thought.
What was the motive? If she could figure that out, a lot of the questions would unravel.
Everyone in the room stared at Euphilia, waiting for her to make a call.
She had effectively become the brains of the Security Team and Barrier Maintenance Crew.
“Um… Professor Euphilia,” Mevis timidly spoke up.
Euphilia turned her head to look at her. “What’s up?”
“Is it really possible that someone cast magic in our dorm…?”
Nancy added, “Could it be a mix-up? We didn’t feel anything at all!”
“We’ve confirmed through the Great Barrier that the alarm location was right in your dorm.”
“But…” Mevis muttered, “Is it possible there’s been an error?”
“Yeah! I heard our barrier isn’t very sensitive… maybe it was something from another place that got misread as ours,” Nancy explained.
Euphilia raised an eyebrow. “What makes you think that?”
“Oh? I heard that from everyone…”
Euphilia glanced at the members of the Security Team, who were awkwardly staring at the floor or scratching their faces.
So, it’s common knowledge that our Great Barrier is terrible? Why hasn’t someone revamped it already!?
“We’ve confirmed that the location is indeed in your dorm; there’s no mistake.”
At that, Nancy and Mevis exchanged worried glances, inching closer. “If that’s true, are we in danger?”
I mean, who wouldn’t be scared to find out an unknown person was using magic in their room while they slept, especially for almost a month?
“Can we apply for a room change?”

“But the Security Team and the teachers seem to suspect us… I…”
“Hold on, don’t panic.” Euphilia’s voice was soothing, like a gentle spring breeze that melted away the chill.
“Right now, we’re not entirely sure of the situation, so it’s hard to say. But since we’re investigating this thoroughly, we’ll ensure everyone’s safety.”
“And we hope you both can fully cooperate in our investigation so we can resolve this matter quickly, and everyone can be at ease.”
The two shared a look, then glanced at Euphilia, finally nodding resolutely together.
“Alright! Thank you, Professor Euphilia!”
Euphilia smiled back, “It’s our duty to protect all the students. Can we check your dorm now?”
“Ah! This!” Mevis exclaimed, slightly flustered, her face turning a shade red, “It might be a bit messy…”
But Nancy beamed, “Welcome! It’s an honor to have you, Professor Euphilia!”
Euphilia led the two girls and her team into their dorm.
It was daytime, and though few people were around in the dorm, there were still some.
Upon seeing a small group enter the dorm, someone yelled, “Room check!!!”
In an instant, the dorm that should’ve been quiet erupted into chaos.
“Wait, they’re doing a check now? Are we not allowed to live?”
“Aren’t we supposed to be notified beforehand for room checks? What’s with this surprise inspection?”
“Oh no, we totally didn’t tidy up, and the others aren’t even here!”
Time to scramble! They had to rush to clean up in a frenzied panic.
Turns out, with enough desperate motivation, even the messiest room can be tidied up fast!
As Euphilia and her team walked up from the ground floor and exchanged a few words with the dorm supervisor before heading upstairs, they managed to make a decent amount of progress in just two minutes.
Just as they thought they could wrap up, they suddenly heard they were heading straight up to the third floor.
Before long, a line formed on the third-floor hallway, ready to greet the guests.
Then they took a look.
Holy cow! It’s Professor Euphilia herself!
