Chapter 538: “Want to leave now? Sorry, too late!”
“So basically, that’s the story. If Tiger Yiyi asks you about her, just tell her I already said everything,” Bai Feng said casually, as if giving away the secret of how he managed to avoid trouble.
He recounted the recent search for Tiger Yiyi that Shui Xi Yu had been involved in. Shui Xi Yu nodded thoughtfully, her brow furrowing slightly. “So, even though East Continent is near the sea with lots of islands, there are forests too. Naturally, there are quite a few tigers. Does this tiger have any other special traits?”
“Hmm… she said she’s a bit like me.”
“Like you, teacher?”
Shui Xi Yu looked up at Bai Feng with a subtle smirk, already suspecting the answer. She knew her teacher was a master of Illusion Art — no difficulty at all slipping into a small monster tribe’s dream and stirring things up.
Bai Feng coughed lightly. “Don’t overthink it. Who knows if those illusions are real or fake? Just help find her, that’s enough.”
“Yes, teacher.” Shui Xi Yu’s lips curved into a faint smile. From his reaction, she was pretty sure she knew what was going on, but she didn’t voice it.
“Oh, by the way, how did you rest last night?”
Hearing this, Shui Xi Yu blushed slightly. “Much better now, and my cultivation has improved quite a bit too.”
“Good to hear.” Bai Feng cleared his throat again, then pulled out a storage bag. “This is the rice and wheat seeds I told you about through the communicator. You can plant some and see how it goes.”
“These are the wheat and rice that multiplied yields several times?” Shui Xi Yu eagerly reached out to catch them. “A few days ago, I was desperately worried about how to restore the villages devastated by war, and now, you’ve just helped me solve that problem.”
Inside were also seawater-resistant rice seeds, though their taste and texture might be quite different.
This was a specially improved version made by Tian Yan after he decided to promote rice and wheat across East Continent — working overtime for better crops.
“Seawater-resistant rice?”
Shui Xi Yu’s eyes widened in surprise. That’s seriously helpful. Many regions in East Continent are island chains, where freshwater’s scarce. Growing anything useful is tough enough, let alone worrying about flavor or texture. For her, survival was more important than gourmet considerations at this point.
She carefully stored the bag, wishing she could fly straight back to East Continent if not for other important business. “This is a huge help! I don’t even know how to thank you, teacher.”
Just keep spreading the word, Bai Feng said kindly.
“Even if you didn’t tell me, I’d do it anyway,” Shui Xi Yu shook her head. “Teacher, is there anything you want? This isn’t a student-to-teacher inquiry; I’m speaking as the Queen of East Continent.”
“Hmmm…” Bai Feng stroked his chin thoughtfully. “I’d like to see how you look when you’re acting as queen in the court.”
“Huh…?” Shui Xi Yu blinked confusedly. “Just that?”
“Because I’ve never seen what you’re like as queen!” Bai Feng chuckled.
“Well… okay.” Shui Xi Yu scratched her cheek, feeling a little shy. “Wait a moment, teacher. I need to change my clothes.”
“Got it.”
Moments later,
Shui Xi Yu pushed open the door and stepped out. Her hair was styled up neatly, with an intricate gold headpiece nestled among her dragon horns. She wore a wide, heavy red robe embroidered with golden dragon patterns. Her expression was calm yet imposing, the kind that brooks no argument. If not for the fact that she looked exactly like Shui Xi Yu, Bai Feng would find it hard to connect this imposing figure with the girl he’d known.
However, her regal mask didn’t last long. When she looked at Bai Feng, her display of authority faltered; a bashful blush crept into her cheeks. “Feels a bit strange…”
“Where’s the strange? Doesn’t this look good?” Bai Feng examined her for a long moment before turning his gaze to her nearly trailing-on-the-floor skirt. “Speaking of which, isn’t it inconvenient to wear this?”
“It’s supposed to be this way!” Shui Xi Yu insisted proudly.
Suddenly, a voice came from the corner of the room. Bai Feng lazily glanced over and saw Shui Miao Miao sticking her head out from behind another bedroom door.
She looked at Shui Xi Yu’s royal robes, and maybe because they had been through similar experiences, she couldn’t help but blurt out, “This heavy, oversized gown that hides your curves looks conservative but isn’t! When you’re alone with your lover, you can strip off all the inner clothes, then use subtle little gestures to make him realize that under all that modesty, you’re actually all smooth and bare underneath. Trust me, he’ll—”
“Enough, I get it,” Bai Feng cut her off hurriedly. His head was filled with forbidden images he definitely didn’t want to dwell on. Could she not be subtle just this once? Didn’t she see Shui Xi Yu’s face turning bright red already?
At this moment, Shui Xi Yu blushed even harder and hurried to the bedroom door. “Um… I’m going to take this off now…”
Deep inside, besides feeling shy, she also couldn’t help but think: No wonder Shui Miao Miao was always one step ahead of her. She really was better at this sort of thing. If it were her, she’d never have thought of using clothes like that in such a way.
But it doesn’t matter! She could learn, and from now on, she would never lose to Shui Miao Miao!
“Wait! You don’t have to listen to her!” Bai Feng called out urgently, grabbing Shui Xi Yu before she could slip into the room. Then, he looked at Shui Miao Miao again. “By the way, didn’t you go back yesterday?”
“Hey… because you… uh, due to illness — I mean, I was really exhausted, so I just slept here. After waking, I lay on the bed for a while and heard you all talking,” Shui Miao Miao said bashfully, rubbing the back of her head.
Bai Feng wanted to complain, but he suddenly realized Shui Xi Yu was nowhere to be seen now. Her door was half-shut, and he could vaguely see her changing clothes. He silently turned to look at Shui Miao Miao.
She sensed his gaze and, feeling a bit off, reached for the door, slowly retreating into the room. “Um… I haven’t slept enough yet, so I—”
“Want to leave now? Too late!”
Bai Feng materialized in front of her instantly, snatching her out of the bedroom.
He was not going to let her escape without a firm ‘lesson’!
“Wait, wait! Give me a moment to prepare!” Shui Miao Miao tried to cling to the door, but she wasn’t pushing hard — easily pulled down. “Hmm, but I kind of like it when you’re a bit forceful like that.”
“…This guy has no hope.”
And Shui Xi Yu, blushing like a ripe tomato, was already heading toward her room. “Uh… I’ll go start stripping now…”
Inside, she couldn’t help but whisper—just like Shui Miao Miao, she was definitely more adventurous in this department. She’d never have thought clothes could be used like that!
But no worries. She could learn. One day, she’d surpass Shui Miao Miao for sure!
“Hey! Don’t mind her!” Bai Feng urgently shouted, stopping Shui Xi Yu. Then, he turned his gaze back to Shui Miao Miao. “And you, didn’t you go back yesterday?”
“Hehe, because yesterday you… uh, well, I was just really tired, so I stayed here. After waking up, I laid in bed a bit longer and then overheard your conversation,” Shui Miao Miao explained shyly.
Bai Feng wanted to mock her but suddenly realized that Shui Xi Yu was gone — the door to her room was half-closed, and he could hear faint sounds of her changing clothes. Quietly, he looked at Shui Miao Miao, a little amused.
She sensed his gaze, felt a little awkward, and shrank back, “Um… I haven’t slept enough, so I—”
“Want to leave now? Too late!”
With a flash, Bai Feng appeared before her, grabbing her and dragging her out of the room, ready for a ‘serious chat.’
