Former Hero Streamer – Chapter 113

Chapter 16: A New Beginning

“Hello. I’m Yu-ri.”

Da-young’s eyes sparkled with relief as she first laid eyes on Yu-ri.

Honestly, it just felt so normal… if anything, a bit plain?

She must have worried quite a bit about what kind of person Yu-ri would be, fearing she’d have a prickly personality or something.

To Da-young, Yu-ri seemed just fine at this point.

It was a somewhat excessive wave of protectiveness and concern, but… I could understand her feelings.

If Yu-ri were a total disaster of a person, I’d be pulling my hair out too.

If Yu-ri were truly beyond help or too twisted to salvage, I wouldn’t be caring for her like this, either.

Of course, I’d keep an eye on things going forward, but if the worst-case scenario came to pass…

That wasn’t a thought to entertain right now, so I quickly brushed it aside.

Anyway, it seemed that Da-young, Ah-jin, and Yu-ri were all capable of accepting each other without much fuss.

Hmm, alright. This is passing grade enough.

“Nice to meet you, Yu-ri Gay. I’m Ppae-ppaeda.”

As Ppae-ppaeda strutted around, showing off his presence, Yu-ri silently nodded her head.

It seemed that in this world, even a frog with angel wings speaking in a bizarre dialect wouldn’t rattle anyone’s mental state.

“Well, if your sister brought you here, there must be a reason you can’t speak up, huh?”

“Yep. I’m okay for now, but when I step outside this house, my gender changes.”

“Whoa, our Yu-ri Gay has real-time TS properties? That’s super rare!”

“I-it’s not rare.”

Seeing Yu-ri puff up her cheeks in irritation, I couldn’t help but break into a Zero Two dance.

Am I seriously considering this a livestream opportunity, or have I just become more of a streamer?

If Ppae-ppaeda were to do a live broadcasting appearance, I thought it might actually make for some pretty funny content.

A frog with wings? That alone is a ridiculous presence.

On top of that, the absurd way he talks makes him practically a walking content machine.

If he made it onto mainstream broadcasting instead of just internet streaming, I’d be in a dizzy dealing with the implications.

In short, one of the heroes who saved the world is doing somersaults while saying, “Yeah!” like it’s no big deal?

That’s just absurd.

“Sis? You okay?”

“Ah, yeah. Don’t worry.”

No matter what, I definitely shouldn’t let this one be seen on broadcast.

Even if that day comes when I have to come out as a hero…

I firmly resolved to look for the right moment to casually drop the hint to Da-young.

So this is… yeah, it’s about the Hero’s Pride issue.

There was a small hiccup, but things settled again, and the conversation’s flow started sinking into the depths.

Given that there are heroes buzzing all around, the awkward atmosphere was palpable.

Well, it’ll get better in time, right?

There’s no need to think too seriously about it.

Now then, on to the important stuff… I should fill Da-young in soon.

“Yu-ri will be staying here for the next year. Ah-jin will be moving in shortly too.”

The sweet aroma from the juice poured into the glass tickled my nose.

The reason for creating this gathering… was because I originally intended to introduce Yu-ri to Da-young.

However, I became aware of a different sentiment that lingered without my realization, right here and now.

“Is this me wishing that Da-young would come here too?”

But Da-young’s situation was different from Ah-jin and Yu-ri.

Unlike those still struggling under curses, she had returned to normal.

Though this place is a good living environment, I find myself questioning if it’s really necessary to move.

Well, staying here and moaning won’t solve anything anyway.

So…

“Da-young, how about moving here too?”

“…?!”

“Yeah. If Da-young doesn’t want to, I’ll at least demand to be let in, pitzise… Ugh!”

Immediately after giving Ppae-ppaeda a smack on the head, I turned my attention back to Da-young.

Her eyes were a mix of conflicting emotions—conflict, confusion, and warmth—glistening as they captured light and reflected back at me.

“That… I’d love to stay with you and everyone. But with Mother in the hospital and needing to manage the house… I think I’ll need to wait until Mother is discharged to get a proper answer.”

From what I’ve heard, it seems her condition has improved a lot and she’ll be discharged soon.

Da-young said she’d consult with her mother then.

Phew, that’s a relief.

Coming back as a hero to this world only to find family issues would be such a mental strain.

“Like I told Ah-jin, it’s just a matter of you coming here; the room is spacious, so Mother can come too. I’d really like you to think positively about it.”

“Yeah.”

As Da-young nodded, sipping her juice, she suddenly exclaimed, “Oh, sis! Aren’t you heading into the event soon? Have you gotten your team members sorted out?”

“Not yet.”

Looking at the schedule, it should be about time to start telling everyone.

But we haven’t even announced it to the public yet; is that alright?

Right then, Yu-ri, who had been quietly listening, raised her hand and spoke up.

“Uh, Se-hee…”

“Yeah? What’s up?”

“Can I… help with the broadcasting as well?”

“Huh?”

Eh? Huh?

“Ah, well… since I’m going to be here for a year with nothing to do, I feel like I’d just be eating away at resources.”

Yu-ri smiled awkwardly, her cheeks flushed with embarrassment, and Ppae-ppaeda jumped in with a click of his tongue.

“Yu-ri Gay, do you know how to edit like that Ah-jin Gay?”

“Actually, I’m not great at broadcasting, but I want to help with something.”

“Oh come on! If you want to help, just order and do a 100-person eating broadcast! How can a high school girl pass up a chance like that?”

Why are we dragging some poor kid into a 100-person eating broadcast?

There’s no way that could actually happen, but if it did, wouldn’t she just be treated like a human symbol?

Moreover, I wasn’t sure if it was okay to get Yu-ri—who’s still a minor—involved in this mess.

Wouldn’t her family chew me out later for this?

Eh, well, it’s not like we’re doing it right now, so I guess I’ll have to think it over.

Then, it happened.

-Wing!

An alert came from my smartphone, and I checked the email that popped up on the screen.

Inside was…

“It’s here.”

The formal announcement for the upcoming event had finally arrived.

Alright, let’s get this started.
