Former Hero Streamer – Chapter 149

Chapter XX: The Return of the Streamer

“Your Excellency! You’re alive!”

“Rise up, Jujak~”

“Friede sis… G-Thanks ㅠㅠ I believed in you.”

“The precious time has come, and you’ve returned to this humble place ^^”

“There’s a lot of noise. Is this really a camp broadcast? ㄷㄷ”

“What’s the title? I thought Friede had made a national-level resolution, but apparently not ^^”

“You idiot! It’s a ‘Camping’ broadcast!”

“Of course it’s a joke. Why would Friede drift over here for anything less?”

“Friede sis heh~ Friede sis heh~ Friede sis heh~”

“You didn’t read the announcement and just barged in, huh? Not even a clue? All you loser fans waiting like dogs at home for Friede’s broadcast can go cut yourselves! Haha!”

“Seriously, it’s like once I log in I can only think of adult videos, it’s crazy ㅡㅡ Actually, I’m the same way, hehe.”

As soon as the broadcast started, the chat room exploded like fireworks, filling the screen.

“Oh! Is this the broadcast?”

“??? Who’s next to you?”

“I just heard a woman’s voice?”

“It’s not even Forming, could it be that editor Tenryun?”

“No, I know that tight-lipped voice isn’t hers.”

“Since the skinny guy brought two friends, it’s probably one of them. Maybe.”

“This girl… that sweet voice isn’t normal.”

Ah, they’re reacting to my voice. Jihae shivered slightly.

Is it just a heightened sensitivity to attention suddenly focused over here? No, it felt like a mini-version of the thrill one feels when being the center of attention on stage.

The real-time viewer count was surging up like a cryptocurrency market spike. Is this what they meant when they talked about Friede’s live broadcast?

Before I was summoned to this world, I had watched plenty of interesting videos on YouTube eight years ago in Korean time, but seeing a streamer’s broadcast right in front of me was a first. Worried I might disrupt the broadcast, Jihae set her fishing rod aside and began discreetly watching Sehee’s stream on her phone.

“Oh, it’s on?”

Addressing not the phone but what lay beyond it, Ahjin gave a thumbs up.

“Yep, it’s all good. Now you can do whatever you want.”

“True. Just do whatever you want ^^”

“Is that a crazy one? Is Friede your senpai now?”

“Who the hell is pushing this yuri crap?”

“Do you not know about mild yuri? Ah, hahah!”

“Info) That voice just now was editor Tenryun.”

Seeing Ahjin react, it meant the broadcast was fine.

Just then, a slight movement caught Sehee’s fishing rod.

“Uh, I think it’s biting.”

At Dayoung’s signal, everyone turned their attention toward the fishing rod. The broadcast camera captured the float dipping into the water — the fish had taken the bait.

Sehee’s arm moved like a flash to grab the rod and began to pull it up slowly. The force from the fish pulling down countered her strength, bending the rod into a parabolic arc.

“What is that?”

Dayoung tilted her head as Sehee delicately coaxed the line, seemingly loving the battle. With no fishing experience to draw from, she hesitated on what to say, but isn’t there some strong fish in river fishing?

It didn’t seem like it was a trivial catch. Could it be something big?

Regardless, the tug-of-war didn’t drag on for long. With Sehee’s skillful handling, the fish finally surfaced, clearly exhausted.

“Oh, it’s a big one. So… did Friede not eat any bait before this?”

“Well, that’s how it goes.”

Ahjin zoomed in with the phone camera, eager to capture Friede’s first catch from the broadcast.

Peeking from the side, I initially thought it was just a little fry, but it turned out to be a fish with a decent size. What is that?

“Is that a bass?”

“Looks solid. Are you going to eat it?”

“Eh? If you catch one like that nowadays, you might get in trouble.”

“If she gets infected with parasites, Friede’s face will be all messed up and the broadcast will go to hell, hahahaha!”

Oh, so that’s a bass. Dayoung sneakily glanced at her phone’s clock.

Since we threw the line before the broadcast started, it hadn’t even been 15 minutes yet. Is it already a good fishing spot?

The depth and water quality seemed decent, and while it felt good enough for an outing, it didn’t mean it was a prime fishing location.

But already getting bites… I might need to rethink my assumptions.

“Sis, what do we do with this fish? We don’t have a container!”

“Huh? Well… we’re not planning to raise it, are we?”

“Sis, I looked it up, and they said you can’t release it. You have to kill it and throw it away.”

“Whoa, I was about to release it. That would’ve been a disaster. Yikes!”

—<Thwack!>

With one punch, the flopping fish went flaccid. Did it die?

Dayoung could only shake her head.

As Sehee reset her fishing rod, she greeted everyone while checking the chat on her phone.

“By the way, I haven’t even greeted you yet. How’s everyone doing?”

“Mom, is that you finally looking at us?”

“Well, if the captain says so, I guess that’s that.”

“Tenryun! You only put off the broadcast because you’re full, right?”

“Sis, can you please arrange the broadcast schedule? I’m dying here.”

“Oh, Friede sis is trying to turn her fans into frozen zombie minions.”

“Maybe it’d be better to set a fixed broadcasting schedule each month?”

When fans get really invested, it’s hard to shake off, no matter how many jokes you throw in.

Even though Sehee didn’t intentionally poke at them, her prolonged absence meant that she was in many of their hearts the same way, and that made them react strongly to what she just said.

“Broadcast schedule? You want to know why I haven’t made one so far? Honestly, it’s because I didn’t want to be tied to a schedule like a job because of streaming. But since it’s been irregular so far, I understand. I’ll consider it.”

“Now the broadcast notice is an ad for WVS Camping Car, but where’s the camping car?”

“The camping car’s in America!”

“Seriously, how random is this fishing? Hahaha!”

“The camping car is parked and we’re preparing for a barbecue party, so once we finish fishing, I’ll give you a proper ad and introduction. Oh, and the title? Right, it would be good to change it. Don’t want to confuse people.”

The notice was already displayed on-screen, but it seemed necessary to change the title.

Realizing this, Ahjin added in WVS Camping Car advertising while they were at it.

“Who are those people next to you? I heard Forming and the editor were coming, but I don’t know who the other two are.”

“They’re probably all girls, right? Our Friede wouldn’t bring a dude to camp and rub legs, would she? I trust our Friede.”

“Look at the wording of that trust!”

“They’re all girls. They’re just close acquaintances. As you know, the camping car is huge. I didn’t want to go alone, so I decided to take them along. And the screen time? Well, if I focus the camera on myself and Forming, it’s fine. How would you guys eavesdrop on us through voice? Right?”

“That’s true, haha!”

“They’re girls? Show us! No, show us all!”

“Is this a random flood of nonsense?”

“Uh, I’m here too!”

At Dayoung’s urgent shout, the camera panned over to her.

This was her first time fishing, so everything felt awkward, but her brown hair flowed beautifully despite her panicked expression.

“How do I do this? Do I just pull?”

“No, not like that. Let’s see… Forming, lean on me.”

Jihae hugged Dayoung from behind and they both held the rod together, pulling it smoothly.

“You can’t just keep pulling. Fishing requires patience and a bit of back-and-forth. Like this~.”

Maybe the fish was weaker than the one Sehee had caught, or Jihae just had good leading skills, but this one was quickly caught.

Though it was just a little fry.

“Oh, is that one of Friede’s friends?”

“She’s pretty.”

“I’m seeing Forming’s bare face for the first time, and she’s adorable ^^”

“I’m inspired… I want to join the fishing fun too.”

“Me too! I’ll skip work and join right away! Haha.”

“You madmen, keep your distance!”

“But are you all personally close friends? I get that Friede is, but it looks like other friends know each other too.”

Seeing the response in the chat, Jihae seemed even more excited, her voice bright.

“Wow, are you talking about me now?”

“Well, right. What else is there to talk about besides us?”

Making a V shape toward Ahjin’s camera, she cheerfully introduced herself.

“Then I should quickly greet everyone. Hello! I’m Jihae, Friede’s best friend!”

“Wow….”

Dayoung couldn’t help but admire Jihae’s boldness, repeating such a grand move while knowing people across the country were watching the broadcast. Didn’t she feel any discomfort or anxiety?

‘She’s different from Sehee.’

Unlike Sehee, who naturally attracted attention just by being herself, Jihae pulled it in with her lively movements… watching her was surprisingly refreshing.

Is this what it’s like to have older siblings? Just a year or two in difference, yet it feels so unfair.

“How much time do we have left until dinner?”

Hearing Sehee’s question while resetting her fishing rod, Ahjin checked from behind.

“There’s still over an hour left. If we leave around 5:30, it should work out perfectly.”

“That’s quite a while. Instead of just aimlessly fishing, how about we set a mission or something?”

“A mission?”

“A penalty game! I love those.”

In contrast to Dayoung’s sensitive reaction, Jihae raised her hand enthusiastically in support.

It felt like a slightly deflating soda, but even a serene fishing experience needed a little burst of excitement now and then.

“A big one’s coming!”

“Heart racing.”

“What’s the penalty?”

“Hopefully something fitting for a camping stream.”

“I’ll hold my breath until Friede does adult content! Hup!”

“Nothing like that, you gay!”

“You all want Friede’s adult content.”

“Absolutely!!!”

“I can’t do that, you gay!!”

“HAHAHAHAHAHA!”

“Seriously, what did you expect from all-age content?”

“I heard it’s possible for each episode to be rated R from Chapter 50.”

As the chat eagerly awaited the next update with popcorn in hand, Sehee smirked slightly, a mischievous glint in her eye.

“Should we film a shower scene live from the camping car?”

“That’s a terrible thing to say! What are you talking about?!”

“Puahaha!”

Dayoung’s horrified exclamation and Jihae’s laughter echoed cheerfully down the riverbank.
